New 4 part drama. On weekly on ch 5 which means usually has to be tv pace

Gives evil cackle so no one can binge 😂😂😛😛

In The Inheritance, three siblings embark on a dangerous journey to discover whether their father was murdered.

Larry Lamb plays their dad Dennis who dies unexpectedly, and afterwards the grieving siblings learn they weren’t left the inheritance they'd all been banking on.

The revelation sees the family fall apart at the seams, exposing long-buried secrets, jealousies and lies and poses the question whether blood really is thicker than water.

The Inheritance follows siblings Daniel (Robert James-Collier), Sian (Gaynor Faye) and Chloe (Jemima Rooper) who are part of a seemingly close and loving family.

The trio are left reeling after the sudden death of their father, Dennis (Larry Lamb) and are later devastated to discover they have not been left their expected inheritance in his will.

This leads them to question whether he really did die in an accident, as they were told, or if he was murdered. Their investigation takes them down a dangerous path and sees secrets unravel, relationships ripped apart and lives lost.

Thank you @lazymum99 I saw someone ‘back and dangerous’ meaning harm to Susan. I missed the name.

I’d totally missed the bit about Dennis not wanting Susan to move in until they all knew. Although it turned out that Chloe had known and, for a long time too. So I wonder why they didn’t just come clean? Do we have a time frame for the affair, splitting with Michael and the marriage?

Michael must still have loved Susan if he left her everything. I suppose that points to no children, or, that this James is their only child, but they were estranged with good reason.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 19/09/2023 17:21

I had forgotten that there was a shady character watching DVDs in a caravan. At the end of last night's episode, i was "FFS" as they introduced a completely unknown character who might turn out to be the basis of the entire storyline.

I know that Susan had supposedly been in Dennis' life for 14 years, but do you think it could have been longer? That Dennis and not Michael is tha father of James (presuming James is Susan's son)?

ilovebrie8 · 19/09/2023 17:57

Sian’s ex nasty ! Hope he’s not done any more harm to Nathan ….he wasn’t picking up when Sian was trying to call him and warn him…too late he’s been head butted !

Chloe’s hubby nasty and an odd ball and up to something…

why did Susan change her mind at the end about the inheritance?

martinisforeveryone · 19/09/2023 19:00

why did Susan change her mind at the end about the inheritance?

Interesting question, I thought because everything to do with Dennis, including that necklace, was somehow tainted? Maybe there are shocking revelations about him, more than the fact he'd had the affair with Susan and married her.

I always have to rewind to read the messages and letters. It’s as though the producers rely on you being able to do that

Ditto

Paise

Squint

Esp text messages

If they want us to read it make it bloody bigger

Just finished ep3 on catch up, I share your confusion re messages, letters etc. I'm also losing track who was apparently receiving money from where.

Why does Adil Ray want the restaurant business which might never turn a profit, unless he needs some sort of legit business to cover dodgy dealings? He seems very sus

Is James Susan's son and he has pooled all the inheritances in Susan by killing the siblings' dad or making him do it. Ditto Susan's first husband Michael.

And now if Susan dies James will inherit everything...

But there is something about Chloe's husband. He is up to his neck in this somehow.

Sounds about right me. Reasons for Pete wanting the restaurant? Spite? To humiliate Dan? Money-laundering for something dodgy?

butterpuffed · 21/09/2023 15:53

I too think James may be Susan and Michael's son . But who was she talking about when she was saying 'He's evil' , could be Pete , Sian's ex or even Dennis himself maybe .

Nathan's probably not answering Sian's phone calls as her ex scared him off .

I thought you had to pay if you didn't want adverts on My5 but when the adverts are due mine just says 'Sponsors for The Inheritance are blah blah' and goes straight into the next part .

purpleme12 · 21/09/2023 15:58

There's the odd occasion where it doesn't have adverts but that's not the norm.

diddl · 23/09/2023 16:38

When Susan said "he's evil" I assumed that she meant James.

So it looks like he'll be after Susan now.

I thought it must be the son of her & Michael but I suppose it could be the son of either or a brother?

Initially I thought that she'd decided not to take the inheritance from Dennis as she now had everything from Michael.

I wonder if Pete wants the restaurant solely for Chloe's sake?

Where's the fire brigade?

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 25/09/2023 22:04

I'm still slightly lost. I now understand who James is. [Trying not to give the game away for anybody who hasn't watched it yet.] But how did he stand to gain from what happened, or did something not happen the way he hoped it would?

SoosanCarter · 25/09/2023 22:06

I knew it!
Although lots of holes in the plot.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/09/2023 22:14

Erm. I got up for a wee and then awake so watched it and caught up ff the ads

So estate agent was susan's and micheals son who they adopted

James aka Nathan - who basically wanted revenge and killed their dad to gain his money

Tho not sure why he thought he would get the money as either it would go to the kids or to the wife (his mum)

So unless he always planned to kill his parents what was the point

I was actually happy to see the thug ex turn up and beat up Nathan

And then rescue them

He redeemed his self imo so thought Sian was heartless to say this can't change anything

So they didn't get the house /money or any of the processions as burnt and went to Nathan

Or as he killed the dad does he lose out on proceeds of a will

And the home insurance will pay out

Guess we don't know what Susans will said

Maybe she had in it once she does that the house/money would go to kids as certainly not going to lewve to her son

Makes you wonder why they put him into care

It's been on tv

It's fair game to talk about it

OP posts:
Clawdy · 25/09/2023 22:17

No explanation about why James was adopted. And no real explanation why he thought Dennis would leave him all the money.
Bit mean of Sian telling her ex "This changes nothing" when he's just saved three lives!

cittigirl · 25/09/2023 22:22

A jumbled and disappointing final episode imho

TimeforaGandT · 25/09/2023 22:31

And how did Dan find out about the caravan? Did I miss something?

LemongrassLollipop · 25/09/2023 22:46

Very shoddy final episode

And THE most unconvincing fight scene between Glen and Nathan 🤣🤣

duc748 · 25/09/2023 22:49

What I thought was a bit daft was that Nathan gave Sian a dodgy business card with a fake business number. She could have easily checked it out the very next day, and been suspicious right away.

TheCatsBlanket · 25/09/2023 22:49

Very disappointed with the way it ended, thought it was too rushed and a bit shit all round if I’m honest

This was the biggest hole in the plot. You’d ask the guy which agent he’s from, then look up the agency and their website with team members.

duc748 · 25/09/2023 22:55

Tbf, it's always hard to tie these things neatly in a finale. And I have enjoyed it, above the average run of mini-series.

BarmyFotheringay · 25/09/2023 23:01

What a load of utter tosh! Started promising, good actors but no explanation for loads of stuff. Unbelievable rubbish.
