yippee!! on now.

OP posts:
ellceeell · 09/07/2009 14:16

I thought that they could use Torchwood's computer resources to get cashback from the credit cards.
Glad other people were worried about the unhygenic aspect of sharing contact lenses

Tamarto · 09/07/2009 14:22

I pressumed as they were futuristic contacts they'd have some sort of magical bug fighting film on them so be safe. Now if someone could please tell me how the doctor was mentioned last night i'll be most grateful.

RustyBear · 09/07/2009 14:37

Forgotten the exact quote, but it was when Jack said "I'm a fixed point in space & time" & he said the doctor told him. I can check the reference on iPlayer this evening, but I can't now because I'm at work revising school policies (Child Protection, Anti-Bullying & Health & Safety ) and not on Mumsnet at all.....

bunnyrabbit · 09/07/2009 14:43

LOL.. I feel so at home here. Not a geek at all!!

RustyBear · 09/07/2009 14:49

The 'fixed point in Space & time' is from the Utopia clip that I posted further up (or down) this thread. I think he was talking to Ianto at the time, when Ianto was asking about how he revived.

Tamarto · 09/07/2009 14:58

ooh ok, i remember that bit, i thought he was mentioned as in why he wasn't about. Do we know why the doc hasn't saved the day?

Tee2072 · 09/07/2009 15:04

Its been mentioned previously, although I do not think last night, that sometimes the Doctor is not on Earth (as we know) and not even reachable.

As for why no Sarah Jane...BBC politics, I would think. Sarah Jane is a kids show. Torchwood is after watershed. And they have said they will never cross them over.

They broke that rule, a bit, when they crossed them all over for Doctor Who finale, but that was an exception.

Eve4Walle · 09/07/2009 15:31

Can someone tell me what happened to Owen? He was the best thing about Torchwood IMO. [SMILE]

BakewellTarts · 09/07/2009 15:52

Sorry but Owen died (I mean really DIED) in the last episode last year. Twas a heroes death...sorry its Wikipedia

Sugarmagnolia · 09/07/2009 16:09

speaking of the government being the bad guy in this one - anyone else notice the uber-tough, we're all important charicature of the Americans?

RustyBear · 09/07/2009 16:33

RTD does do tend to have that attitude towards America - the American President tried to take over the situation in The Christmas invasion - Harriet Jones told him "You're not my boss and you're certainly not starting a war"

Then President Winters did take over from Harold Saxon/The Master to greet the Toclafane - and promptly got fried....

UnquietDad · 09/07/2009 17:03

Well, that's not really an attitude from Harriet - she was right!

Well, yes, of course she was - but it was RTD's attitude to America I was talking about - that he assumes the US will demand to take over in any and all circumstances.

Of course, he's probably right too...

SciFiFan · 09/07/2009 18:35

I wondered if the 456 are back because they didn't get their full quota of kids last time. After all Clem ran off rather than be taken.

Maybe he'll have to give himself to them at the end in order to save the day???

Or, as normal, I could be completely wrong.

Am loving it though.

BecauseImWorthIt · 09/07/2009 18:37

Re the contact lenses - I was thinking that it's a good job she doesn't already wear them, otherwise it would be a bugger trying to put another pair in over the top!

bronze · 09/07/2009 20:12

thats it.Shes had her eyes lazered. Thats how she knows how to put contacts in quickly and her eyes were used to it but how she isnt wearing one pair over another

Glad I wasn't the only one who say the two pictures together on the screen.

Noones mentioned (minds gone blank) the other guy, the one who had been monitoring the channel, this episode. Hes definitely suss

EdwardBitMe · 09/07/2009 21:03
