splutters green stuff across screen at Ianto's having no special talents

sits and thinks for a while for counter evidence

still thinking

hmmm splutters against screen some more

I'm off to google the wit & wisdom of Ianto Jones for a while.

Will clean glass on return

edam · 09/07/2009 12:05

Not usually interested in Torchwood but these episodes are good. (And am kind of interested because I've been enjoying the Beeb 3 reruns of Doctor Who so that has stoked my need for related stuff.)

Why don't they just take all the gas out of that box, though? Then the 456 can't come to Earth and nick the children. If they needed Jack to do their dirty work last time, they clearly aren't able to do it themselves. What's the threat that they are holding over Jack's/UNIT's/governments' heads to make them comply?

And there's something about 456 being how children learn to count... or letters DEF, perhaps? Have any Doctor Who aliens ever begun with those letters?

Agree it would be quite easy to compile a list of children I wouldn't miss.

ellceeell · 09/07/2009 12:17

Oh I bet Ianto has lots of special talents! I loved the bit when he and Jack were trying to get rid of Rhys for 20 minutes / half an hour

Katisha · 09/07/2009 12:30

And another thing, if Plot Device/Martha Substitute Girl was new to contact lenses :
a. It would have taken her longer than 2 minutes to get them in and
b. She would be blinking like mad and have streaming eyes.

OK so Martha is on honeymoon, the Doctor is on Saulis Major with the Graunthians. How about Sarah-Jane? Where's she?

OrmIrian · 09/07/2009 12:35

Why does that thing keep snotting all over the glass. It is very rude. I think they should offer it a hanky next time.

bunnyrabbit · 09/07/2009 12:35

hmm I like the idea of it being the children coming back. I mean the whole Alien atmosphere and green gunk spewing everywhere is a bit green monster, 1950's cliche isn't it? Exaclty how a child of that era (or this to be honest) might envisage an alien visitation.

LOL at Gwen's signiture jumping sideways while shooting move.

Lois does have talents as an organiser etc ("I'm a PA it's what I do") much the same as Ianto was to start with, only now he's more techy and involved, maybe they need someone to be arunner. Or she might have some hidden talents??

Re Ianto, he makes good coffee, apparantly.

oooh teeny weeny snatches of Doctor Who in the trailer for autumn (AND Spooks, hurrah!).

edam · 09/07/2009 12:37

more oooooh sorry if repeating something already on the Doctor Who threads but ooooooh!

bunnyrabbit · 09/07/2009 12:37

Oh yes the contact lense thing annoyed me too. She put them in like a pro, someone who's been wearing contact lenses awhile. I said to DH that's BX. Her eyes would be watering all over the place and her make up would be half way down her face...

bea · 09/07/2009 12:38

oooo! questions questions... i am absolutely not missing tosh and owen - tosh especially was exceptionally annoying! .... i love the cut down torchwood team (with rhys in too!)

can't wait till tonights ep... it's a definite hit with me! and it's like watching mini series from the 80's all over again!

can you imagine when the box set dvd comes out... you could watch it all in one go!

OrmIrian · 09/07/2009 12:38

Apologies if this point has already been brought up but has anyone noticed how anti-establishment this is. The government is the bad guy, same with Primeval. Compare with the older Doctor Who stuff when the govt/army were more or less on the side of the angels. Is it post 9/11 reaction I wonder.

JackieNo · 09/07/2009 12:44

Orm - more maybe that everyone is more cynical, and less trusting that the govt is there to do its best for us - now we figure it's just as likely to be doing the best for itself (see the mps' expenses, though I guess this was written way before then).

bea · 09/07/2009 12:44

ahhh! bunnyrabbit....

but these just aren't any contact lenses... they're torchwood contact lenses!

Longtalljosie · 09/07/2009 12:51

Ooh Edam that all looks smashing! Where does Matthew Macfadyen fit in though - was that part of Spooks? Maybe he's coming back, he wasn't killed was he, he just buggered off?

bunnyrabbit · 09/07/2009 12:52

Indeed they are, I agree, hence I have not quibbled about the hygeine isssues that sharing contact lenses raises!! But still, she cold have struggled a bit getting them in!!

bunnyrabbit · 09/07/2009 12:52

Did anyone else think it sounded like and M&S advert when Gwen said that?

bunnyrabbit · 09/07/2009 12:53

How incredibly self knowing....

Longtalljosie · 09/07/2009 12:56

Oh it was a definite M&S reference. Just like Gwen saying "what's occurring?" at the start of episode 1 was a Gavin and Stacey reference...

UnquietDad · 09/07/2009 12:57

And the stealing was all a Hustle take-off too.

JackieNo · 09/07/2009 12:57

bunnyrabbit - I thought about the hygiene issues too .

Longtalljosie · 09/07/2009 13:03

So did I - I guess it's a knee-jerk thing if you're a contact lens wearer!

Katisha · 09/07/2009 13:06

Me too but I don't want to come across as if I have a quibble every 5 minutes.
(Although I do...)

Tamarto · 09/07/2009 13:12

When was the doctor mentioned last night, i must have missed it?

sockmonkey · 09/07/2009 13:43

How do you get money by stealing folks credit cards though? Surely you will need to know the pin number... unless you order off t'internet, but that'd take a while to get delivered.

bunnyrabbit · 09/07/2009 13:53

no no sockmonkey, good call!! I thought exactly the same thing. I suppose they have some gadget they can use to extract money out of cash points, or determine the PIN or something.

Katisha, oh please do quibble it's what we all live for!!
