Katisha dht hoght there were a lot of allusions also to the final solution with a few BNP overtones. It may well be that gets us talking which is the best way to protect aginst such bigotry (BNP not best fans of the disabled apparently).

There's also a G8 conference on Africa today which might be relevant IF RTD knew the date of broadcast.

I imagine it will get people thinking- would they dispose of other kids to save thri own? If not then how come thats already being doen in a social way via the school system? Whether it will amke it to long erm dialogues after a few special effects and bombs though I doubt

Hi all,

Have been lurking here all week and had to finally post I love all your theories, was utterly shocked by last nights episode, but feel that it was meant to do just that..

Going back to Tee2072's post your right Clem didn't run away they definitely didn't want him, but as he was dying did you hear the 456 say "the remnant will be disconnected"?? I took that to mean that maybe they had somehow "wired" Clem's brain and now they didn't need him so "switched him off"?? ... maybe he was an experiment to see if they could use adults too???

I am in equal measures squeeing with excitement about tonight's show and dreading it as it may be the last

maloofysmum · 10/07/2009 10:34

Obviously the last of this run but I meant the last one ever..

Thanks for those answers.

Now I'm wondering why they ddn't use Clem? He certainly wasn't the biggest of the kids taken, so unlikely it was a puberty thing. Maybe, because he was last in they decided to leave one behind but aware of them to ease their way back in (by the government being aware there was one left).

What about those other 2 oldies that there was an order to kill in episode 1. Did they srvive the first taking too? or were they somehow connected in another way? Were they the only remaining army personnel to be involved on the night or something?

I think Series 4 hasn't been confirmed yet, but given that this series has had ratings nudging 6 million, the BBC would be shooting themselves in the foot not to give it a re-commission!

It was first shown in Autumn 2006, though, with Series 2 not until January 2008, and this one in July 2009, so we may have to wait another 18 months for a 4th series - Winter of 2010/11 maybe.

The destruction of the Hub is no reason to assume it won't come back - that's just part of a BBC process of doing up sets every so often because they get shabby. (Look at all those soap opera fires and explosions - excuse for a re-design.) Neither is the odd character death - look at Spooks, which now has almost totally different cast from series 1.

Rumours, though, of RTD moving across to the USA and taking the concept with him - reinvented for a new and younger team... It won't be the same. Could end up turning into "The OC Fight Aliens."

UnquietDad · 10/07/2009 10:58

Hockeypuck - yes, the 3 other people in the "order to kill" were the other personnel involved on the night in 1965 - the woman radio operator and two others. Jack never knew their names.

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/07/2009 10:59

Surely there has to be some significance in Gwen being pregnant? I gather she's pregnant in RL, but as you can't tell - at least from the way it's been shot - then there was no reason to introduce it into the story otherwise.

BTW, it's RTD's concept but last night's episode was written by a scriptwriter called John Fay. Just a "credit where it's due" moment!

becauseimworth it - I think it's been written in because Eve Myles is.

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 10/07/2009 11:02

BIWI I just assume dthat it was why she wasnt doing as many stunts as she seems to usually?

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/07/2009 11:03

UQD - I know she is, but as you can't tell from the way she looks, why bother with it in the story? Unless there's going to be more TW imminently, which it would seem there isn't!

And she's been pretty active in all of this anyway!

UnquietDad · 10/07/2009 11:06

I imagine they are thinking ahead. Although this series was filmed last September/October (?) so I imagine she has had the baby now or is about to!

UnquietDad · 10/07/2009 11:09

I've heard a rumour that there is an even bleaker moment in tonight's episode.

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/07/2009 11:10

Spill!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 10/07/2009 11:11

BIWI - I thought that the pregnancy was a plot device to enable Jack to find out about the bomb inside himself. If Gwen hadn't been using that scanner then he would never have known.....

AitchTwoOh · 10/07/2009 11:12

first thing i thought when i saw the actress was 'she's up the duff'. her face has gone all soft and happy.

TheOddOne · 10/07/2009 11:12

YY Spill!

UnquietDad · 10/07/2009 11:14

I would but there is no way of "spoiler spacing" it here and some people who come on the thread may not want to know.

Gah you can't say things like that and then not tell!

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/07/2009 11:16

Alibaba - yes, I think you're right. But it was also interesting that the pregnancy was first 'diagnosed' by Clement.

OrmIrian · 10/07/2009 11:17

Very traumatising. Very good. I was in tears too.

But I did wonder if that woman cabinet member was an MNer. I've heard similar sentiments about failing schools on here It would clear up all those dodgy bits on the league tables nicely.

PeachyTheRiverParrettHarlot · 10/07/2009 11:17

UQD can you do on a poiler thread to help me decide whether to watch (and coz DH is staring over my shoulder doubting MN's valifity on these things LOL)

OrmIrian · 10/07/2009 11:19

And did we ever find out why they wanted them? Were they just the latest 465 must-have accessory?
