I am
not sure yet a bit london - centric?

whooosh · 18/05/2009 21:12

I am and it is sadly.....no surprise.

MrsMcCluskey · 18/05/2009 21:13

It is a bit - tell me something we dont know already.

Ewe · 18/05/2009 21:13

I am, think that bloke seemed a bit of a twat but I am reserving judgement.

The facts and numbers were pretty depressing but no surprise!

MollieO · 18/05/2009 21:15

I wonder if she has children?

EvenBetaDad · 18/05/2009 21:17

Feeling the same - definitely seen it all before.

Good point about men taking maternity leave though.

OP posts:
Ewe · 18/05/2009 21:17

I suspect not MollieO.

MollieO · 18/05/2009 21:17

Justin is a twat.

Ewe · 18/05/2009 21:17
HolyGuacamole · 18/05/2009 21:18

oh don't reserve judgement ewe, he is a twat

MollieO · 18/05/2009 21:18

Can someone slap him. So working part time means you don't do a proper job? Aarrgh.

Ewe · 18/05/2009 21:19

I though he might prove me wrong, alas no, he is indeed a prize twat!

MollieO · 18/05/2009 21:20

She is right about the sum of the parts being greater. I 'work' a 4.5 day week but actually do 5 days. The 0.5 is just not paid and not in the office

EffieGadsby · 18/05/2009 21:21

This is really annoying me. Justin whatever his name is, for example, is a twat. I've never seen him before; he can't always be this annoying if he has a broadcasting career.

MollieO · 18/05/2009 21:22

He is/was eco man on Newsnight.

EvenBetaDad · 18/05/2009 21:22

DiD I hear that right - only 7% of men want paternity leave and only 4% of women want Dad to do it to?

OP posts:
MollieO · 18/05/2009 21:23

'Women should be tied to the sink'? I know where I'd like to 'tie' him. Pratt.

MollieO · 18/05/2009 21:24

Yes BetaDad.

Ewe · 18/05/2009 21:24

Completely agree Mollie, I do a 4 day week on a 4 day salary and generate 5 days worth of revenue [sigh] makes me want to bang my head against a wall when people don't get this! I have a much better ROI than anyone else in my office.

MistressSeuss · 18/05/2009 21:24

EBD I was surprised by that too - the uptake is higher in scandinavia

Itsjustafleshwound · 18/05/2009 21:24

I would question these statistics bandied about by this programme

MollieO · 18/05/2009 21:25

The surgeon misses the point. There is a massive glass ceiling for would be female surgeons.

MistressSeuss · 18/05/2009 21:26

yes there is MollieO - there male domination but it is also because it takes so long - the sacrifices are massive

and the presenter is a twat

MollieO · 18/05/2009 21:27

There is still a macho culture of men not taking much time off to spend with newborn. Sort of paternity leave is for wimps.

EffieGadsby · 18/05/2009 21:28

I don't quite understand how that woman employer was able to say on a TV program that she wouldn't hire women of child bearing age. It makes it almost tempting to apply for a job with her, and then sue her for sexual discrimination when I, as a fecund female, am not offered the job. How can she go on telly and say something that could easily land her in court?
