I wonder why she keeps going outside for a ciggie? Horse and gate, springs to mind!

LadyOfWaffle · 14/04/2009 21:42

Just turned over (DH watching football)

Yeyeayo · 14/04/2009 21:42

I had a baby when I was 19, and another at 26. 19 was the best time - less aches and pains during pregnancy and I recovered from the birth much quicker.
I've also read that late teens, early twenties are the best time to biologically have a baby Ewe. I do not like the way this programme is spinning teen mums at all.

expatinscotland · 14/04/2009 21:43

Give her a cannula before she goes into theatre.

Ewe · 14/04/2009 21:43

The midwife lady is nice and smiley.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 14/04/2009 21:44

It would have been lovely to have slept through ds's birth . Darn, I missed that trick!

OMG!! Lisa is driving me insane!
She's so rude and arrogant
Did I say stupid misinformed?

Monkeyandbooba · 14/04/2009 21:46

Yey - do you not think that may be in part due to pregnancy taking more of a toll second time round? I found my second baby harder on my body and it took longer to recover.

Appreciate they are not showing the positive side of teenage pregnancy though.

expatinscotland · 14/04/2009 21:46

Think Lisa's going to breastfeed ?

Alambil · 14/04/2009 21:46

who cuddles the baby whilst she sleeps? That's so sad she is too groggy to even look at her properly

My point is not that she isn't ignorant. Clearly she is - but you get ignorant people at in their thirties, forties, fifties and beyond. Her age is not the reason why she is ignorant. But they've chosen her to focus on. The other mother has more sense and just wanted to have the baby she had planned, and got upset like a lot of other mothers would do.
The way the professionals are talking about teenage mums as if they were one homogenous mass is pissing me off

liath · 14/04/2009 21:47

I'll revise my judgement of her if she breastfeeds!

expatinscotland · 14/04/2009 21:48

I do agree, though, late teens/early twenties is biologically a good time.

If I had to do it over again, I would NOT have waited.

Alambil · 14/04/2009 21:48

oh surprise surprise!!

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 14/04/2009 21:48

IMO, the pregnancy and birth is just the beginning. The problem is that they hand you a baby, kick you out and don't help you bring the little darling up. New parents go from lots of help, lots of support to nothing. There's not even a manual to help you along.

SlightlyMadStirrup · 14/04/2009 21:48

Bugger - I fogot this was on. Is it repeated?

Yeyeayo · 14/04/2009 21:48

Monkey,
I'm not sure - they say that your body recovers after three years and my second birth was seven years afterwards.

LadyOfWaffle · 14/04/2009 21:50

SMS - yes, lasts weeks was on the other night

Alambil · 14/04/2009 21:50

SMS it's on 4+1 in 10 mins

Kathyis6incheshigh · 14/04/2009 21:50

Younger mums are more likely to get hyperemesis. Though IIRC smoking makes it less likely, so perhaps the two cancel each other out.

Yeyeayo · 14/04/2009 21:51

that should say in the way that she had planned. Obviously she had the baby

Meglet · 14/04/2009 21:51

it looks like the reality of the situation has dawned on lisa. she looks like a rabbit in the head lights.

Ewe · 14/04/2009 21:52

You could watch it on 4OD I think SlightlyMad.

Lisa is ignorant and not terribly bright but you saw her Mum there who instead of supporting her daughter not to smoke she said that she'll probably start once she is outside. Self fulfilling prophecy much?
