I have no idea why that came out twice! Maybe it's a Freudian slip for a Friday afternoon?

KayHarkerIsInDenial · 09/01/2009 13:55

What is it about the ice cream thing? I think it's the devoted care and attention he gives to the task...

KayHarkerIsInDenial · 09/01/2009 13:56

Twice for emphasis!

RustyBear · 09/01/2009 13:58

Of course, the Year 6 children would come to see what I was watching, but 10 year olds would just see 'Dr Who eating an ice-cream'.... wouldn't they?

KayHarkerIsInDenial · 09/01/2009 14:04

Exactly, Rusty. It's all conveniently camooflarged, innit?

gizmo · 09/01/2009 14:13

A plan for cardiff, perhaps?

If I drive the Mr Whippy van, you lot can all be the stock. It might be a bit cramped, mind, having to squash yourself into those biscuit cones, but I'll let you choose which flavour you want to be.

Oggsdog · 09/01/2009 14:14

Ooh, I think I've seen that clip on youtube. Is it the one where he's sat on a deckchair singing, in front of an ice-cream van with Elvis as a customer?
Very nice. I've spent ages watching him licking that ice cream...

Oggsdog · 09/01/2009 14:16

He's got a vanilla one in the clip hasn't he? Bagsy vanilla.

RustyBear · 09/01/2009 14:18

btw, in case anyone's worried, I'm not meant to be teaching the Year 6 children, it's just they are in the ICT suite, with their teacher.

I'm supposed to be updating a very boring spreadsheet with details of all the training courses the staff are going on.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 09/01/2009 14:52

Bagsy I'm the 99. That'll be the vanilla with added flake.

Katisha · 09/01/2009 14:53

I'll be Tennants Extra...

prettybird · 09/01/2009 15:03

... tall, skinny, receding hailine, big nose but really nice smile and twinkly eyes

Talked to a couple of people (both male and female) and they agreed. H e was maybe about 60% CE to 40% DT.

serenity · 09/01/2009 17:01

My sister got me Casanova for Christmas (watched it before she gave it to me, but that's both understandable and forgivable ) I do have a soft spot for it, it's the very first thing I saw DT in, and it's the whole reason I got so excited when I heard he was going to be 10. The end is deeply sad though.

serenity · 09/01/2009 17:05

Oh, and all those discussing 11's clothes might be interested in this if they have a spare few minutes

scaryteacher · 09/01/2009 17:16

Read in the DT today that the RSC will not be relasing a DVD of DT's Hamlet, as they narrowly failed to make a deal with a TV company to do this. Shame, it was the only way I would ever get to see it.

However, you can go and withdraw the recording of it that the RSC did make from their archive in Stratford and sit and watch it there.

Very commercially short sighted methinks.

JackieNo · 09/01/2009 17:24

I went to see DT in Hamlet on Wednesday - and the really annoying thing was that I ended up with a spare ticket, but didn't know till about 2 hours before the performance, when my friend missed her train . ANd I had no internet access, and was about to get on a train myself. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and spookily, there was a guy sitting just in front of me that was the spitting image of DT (but no glasses, and a bit younger).

JackieNo · 09/01/2009 17:25

(not that DT usually wears glasses ).

JackieNo · 09/01/2009 17:26

And apparently Jude Law's going to be doing Hamlet at Wyndham's Theatre in the spring. I'm not a v big Jude Law fan, tbh.

Katisha · 09/01/2009 17:39

Oh no Wednesday was the day of No Trains if you were coming into Euston. What did you think of it Jackie? (Hamlet not the trains.)

KayHarkerIsInDenial · 09/01/2009 17:51

serenity, I am so not doing transvestite-chic.

JackieNo · 09/01/2009 18:06

I was going via Paddington, luckily. I enjoyed it, though I think I was expecting to be completely blown away, and I wasn't. It was excellent, but I suspect that the Doctor Who thing got in the way of my believing in him as Hamlet. Also he kept doing things like dragging Polonius' body across the stage, and balancing on the edge of beds, and part of my mind would be thinking 'Nooo - don't do that, you might do your back in again' . But stunning to look at, great cast - esp DT, Claudius, Gertrude and Polonius, imo.

Oggsdog · 09/01/2009 18:16

Yay! Blackpool arrived in the post today .

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 09/01/2009 18:21

That's Oggs quiet for the rest of the night.

Jackie, that's so sweet and caring and motherly. Bless!

Oggsdog · 09/01/2009 19:38

No it's not Zeb. It's not the sort of thing dh would watch so I have to wait for an opportunity when he's not here .

Katisha · 09/01/2009 19:46

Jackie I completely agree about your four top cast members. I was less convinced by Ophelia.
But for me it was interesting that he was nothing like the Doctor in it - or at least only the ocasional flash. I thought he paced it really well. Have you seen the recent reviews? Grauniad and Torygraph
