who will it be?
DT will be a hard act to follow.

Or super-hero chic. He could wear his pants outside his [black] tights, a tight back vest with a question mark on his chest, and a cute little mask. Obviously he'd have to keep the floppy fringe.

Scaryteacher, I hope you put DS over your knee and spanked him for talking to his mother like that!

ReallyReally · 06/01/2009 16:43

you know what, I think it's all going to be fine

weren't we worried, Kay, that they would try to choose 'one for the mums' and we would end up with some ManThing hulking around giving salacious winks

I think he looks fun. And weird. And kind of morphlike, Besides, I haven't fancied a Doctor since CE and no-one has been commiserating with me that I can remember

ReallyReally · 06/01/2009 16:46

mind you come to think of it I could see Milton Wordsworth from Storymakers in the part, now that you are all wobbling about Dwayne Dibbley.

A black doctor would have got them talking doncha reckon

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 06/01/2009 17:17

I am happy I don't fancy him, that is a genuine plus-point in his favour. But I don't fancy Chiwetel Ejiofor, either. Or Paul Bettany. Or...

Oh, never mind. It'll be fine.

Actually, when Storymakers came on this afternoon I thought exactly the same about Miill-tun (you have to say Milton in the same way as Jackson, don't you?)

'First Black Doctor' does sound like one of those big milestone thingies. Although I'm not sure it should be a big thing, it certainly would be. I ended up quite incredibly bored with threads on OG that made an argument on the lines of 'But the Doctor is british, he can't be black'

'Youngest Doctor ever' doesn't have the same impact, really.

"Oh look, a young trendy person in a lead role. Crikey, you hardly ever see that. How progressive."

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 06/01/2009 17:38

Oh dear, do you think that's our problem? That he's, whisper it, 'trendy'? Uh-oh. Now I'm feeling dead old.

Personally, I didn't fancy DT at the outset, it was the character and acting wot one me over. Oh, and as Rose said, he had great hair. I'm not expecting to start fancying Mattie-boy any day soon, which I'm fine with.

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 06/01/2009 17:56

Oh, I fancied Tennant in Takin' Over the Asylum, but embarrassingly enough, I didn't actually make the link when he took over. In fact, all I could recall seeing him in was something where he was a complete sodding lunatic with a chainsaw. I was quite excited by seeing a total nutter in the role, and I hadn't got quite as attached to CE over one series (although I still cried when he went, wet that I am).

But he didn't actually properly win me over until The Christmas Invasion. It was the moment he steps out of the TARDIS in pyjamas and says 'Did you miss me?' that I was totally convinced he was going to be fantastic.

Now, I've just watched some of the Confidential again, and now the shock has worn off, I am definitely beginning to like him. No, not like that, what sort of dodgy fanfic porn writing animal do you take me for?

But when I didn't have a horrified haze of tears and the image of the word 'Cancelled' blurring my vision, he came across quite well, and strangely, not nearly as oddly shaped as I had first thought. I think I was sitting a bit too close to the telly on Saturday...

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 06/01/2009 18:10

Ooh, be very careful there. I feel a simper coming on.

KayHarkerIsSimperphobic · 06/01/2009 18:37

Not gonna happen. Besides, I hardly think 'Not quite as oddly shaped as I first thought' is all that close to simpering.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 06/01/2009 18:42

It's the start of the slippery slope....

OggsfrogisaBadWolf · 06/01/2009 19:13

You would have been proud of me today. I picked up a Dr Who magazine, flicked through it, then after seeing that there were no full page spreads of Ten put it back down and walked away .

OggsfrogisaBadWolf · 06/01/2009 19:15

How about Lord Percy chic, with a ruff and waving a handkerchief in a foppish manner?

KayHarkerREFUSESTOSimper · 06/01/2009 19:18

Zeb

OggsfrogisaBadWolf · 06/01/2009 19:21

What!! There's an annual???

How about Kevin and Perry chic?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 07/01/2009 07:35

And a calender Oggs.
Kay, you're in denial.

And I'm still smitten with the combined all round gorgeousness of Hugh Jackman & Rupet Penry-Jones to be too infatuated with DT at the moment (or emo-doc come to that!). I think it's something to do with their rippling muscles, which DT actually doesn't have. Maybe emo-doc could bulk up a bit....

OggsfrogisaBadWolf · 07/01/2009 08:41

Kay does your post refer to you hoarding 2008 copies of the annual or one copy of the 2008 annual.

If the former then I salute your dedication

Eleven seems to have notched up quite a few semi-naked roles, maybe he will be naturist-chic with just a strategically placed sonic screwdriver

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 07/01/2009 08:48

Hmm, Zeb perks up. Now all he needs is a little haircut, a few sessions in the gym and .....hunky-chic

scaryteacher · 07/01/2009 09:19

Zebs, ds is 13 and nearly as tall as me, so my knees would collapse if I put him over them! I thought removal of the series 4 DVDs and the CD of the series 4 soundtrack not being put on his ipod would do the trick.

He says at least I'll stop licking the TV when Dr Who is on now!

KayHarkerREFUSESTOSimper · 07/01/2009 09:22

Oh now that's just silly. Just-got-out-of-the-shower-chic, meh. DT has already done that, too, in Secret Smile.

Besides, I like DT's physique. As you know, from the picture in my profile. I'm rather keen on long and lean, actually.

I am not in denial. I am clinging onto the door-frame of acceptance, trying not to enter the room quite yet.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 07/01/2009 10:01

I like your DS Scary, sounds like he has a good sense of humour, and I agree with him that you should stop licking the tv immediately. It's unbecoming.

Long and lean is a good look too, but as I'm short and dumpy, I'd be afraid I'd squish him, hence my current fascination with the big and muscular. I've always gone for rugby players not footballers.

KayHarkerREFUSESTOSimper · 07/01/2009 10:19

I'm quite sure licking the telly doesn't taste nearly as nice as the real thing, either.

KayHarkerREFUSESTOSimper · 07/01/2009 10:32

Tastes better in the flesh

scaryteacher · 07/01/2009 10:57

How would you know what he tastes like? I'm

scaryteacher · 07/01/2009 10:59

I like my ds as well Zebs - I'm past unbecoming however where DT is involved. I'm short and dumpy as well, but I'd happily climb a ladder for him!

KayHarkerREFUSESTOSimper · 07/01/2009 11:22

I don't. But what which one do you think'd taste better? A slightly dusty glass screen with a faint tang of polish and a few unidentifable sticky fingerprints, or DT's neck?

scaryteacher · 07/01/2009 11:37

The neck of course! I shall have to go and run around in the snow now to cool myself down.
