Just been watching some of his interviews on youtube. I think he is going to be great. He came across well when I was watching him. Definitely has a quality about him that I like. I am sort of in a minority here because I must say I really didn't like the last series of Dr Who. I stopped watching after episode 3 I think. Couldn't get into it and wasn't keen on Catherine Tate in it either, which surprised me as I usually like her.

Maybe if I had really liked that series then I would have some reservations but for me personally, I am ready for a change. Even though I think David Tennant has done a great job, I still think it needs an overhaul.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 04/01/2009 17:00

And whinging about life not being fair

Don't you just wish you were a teenage girl again..... not

serenity · 04/01/2009 17:08

You lot do get that he's 26 not 16 don't you?

wintera · 04/01/2009 17:11

How old was Peter Davidson when he got the role? He was young wasn't he? My older sister loved Peter Davidson!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 04/01/2009 17:16

PD was 29. And yes, we get that he's 26 but he looks 12. - I'm just having some sad Sunday afternoon fun as DS is with his dad today.

I'm sure he'll be fine, the show will be fine, his hair had better be fine, all will be fine.... and if he's rubbish he'll get shunted off to Torchwood with the rest of em.

LoveMyLapTop · 04/01/2009 17:24

Iget it!
Was being silly
I think he will be good.
He looks a bit 'other- worldly'

serenity · 04/01/2009 17:25

I must be the only person who doesn't think he looks young then - must be my own excessively youthful looks, everyone else looks old and haggard in comparison

He's getting slated less that Catherine Tate did though (generally, not just on here) and the mood seems to be quite positive on the whole.

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 04/01/2009 18:23

I have thoroughly enjoyed all four modern series, and even I, as a very big fan of Tennant, am quite ready for him to go. I just wasn't ready for teen Doc. Honestly serenity, he's a baby in looks, it's not like that hasn't been confirmed all over the place, promise.

I believe the TARDIS console room itself is due for a different look.

Peter Davison was young and fresh faced etc. But he still had that 'Dad-ish' quality (and oh gosh I love, love, loved him, which mildly disturbs me now I've called him Dad-ish).

Are you sure you're quite ready for DT to go.....

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 04/01/2009 18:46

It's a reaction to EmoTeen. Like Hysteria.

serenity · 04/01/2009 19:06

I think I'm just being contrary and stubborn, the more people fret the more I like him

(but I wear black nail polish, have a thing for Marilyn Manson and really, really liked Mitchell off of Being Human and probably a few other things mentioned on the thread)

BarcodeZebra · 04/01/2009 19:22

abouT iT. There's a T in both words you idle twonk.

UnquietDad · 04/01/2009 19:23

LOL at the Doc on facebook.

"The Doctor is defeating the Zarqon invasion of Galactixus VI"

"The Doctor is having a cup of tea"

"The Doctor and Rose Tyler are now friends. They found each other through the Interdimensional Friend Finder"

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 04/01/2009 19:24

I wear dark purple nail polish, masses of black eyeliner and go with the pale-faced thing and dye my hair silly colours with stargazer hair dye. I am still a baby-goth at heart.

But I'm not the Doctor!

Ach, I'm definitely warming to him, I am. I'm just sure I never wanted to be thinking 'Aw, cute lickle emo Doctor, bless'.

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 04/01/2009 19:27

Oh, I'm extremely amused by some of the facebook groups. Was told there's one saying no to Matt Smith because he lacks experience, and they want... Richard Hammond instead. WTF?

VSisFlouncing · 04/01/2009 19:51

Lol @ Richard Hammond.

We'll all be saying I heart Matt soon enough, it's fiiine, I mean, it's not like he i taking over as Gene Hunt is it?

annaje · 04/01/2009 19:56

Will reserve judgement until I have seen him in action (must keep the faith ) but have to admit was dissapointed initially. It seems like they have just decided to stick to the DT formula - I would have liked to have seen someone totally different.

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 04/01/2009 20:03

it's not like he is taking over as Gene Hunt is it?
-----

faints dead away in horror

I'm afraid my open-mind disappears when it comes to gene Hunt. Which is as it should be

KayHarkerDoesNotSimper · 04/01/2009 20:09

See here I'm crying with laughter

VSisFlouncing · 04/01/2009 20:59

LMAO.
That's great

Housemum · 04/01/2009 21:30

I am going to sit on my hands and not criticise - I sort of see it working but now will have to find someone else to drool over as new guy is:

a) not gorgeous
b) far too young for me

But non-gorgeous doctors can work - I really liked Christopher Ecclestone. Can't see new guy's face on a poster working that well, though (perhaps cos I'm not a teenager)

Might be interesting to have a goth/Emo doc (unless he starts taking his sonic screwdriver to his wrists...)

The guy in that new series Demons would've been good, in same sort of style (or has that been said already, 12 pages is too much to read...)

paolosgirl · 04/01/2009 21:44

Yeah, but Christopher E had presence, charisma, darkness, experience and humour. This guy looks exactly like a million and one other emos, with the same irritating hair flicking and pasty looking skin.

They should have got Noel Fielding if they wanted that kind of look - at least they'd have got someone seriously funny, sexy, unique as opposed to sheep-like, who doesn't try to act 15 and with that definite presence. Now the Mighty Boosh in the Tardis - that I would like to see

PortBlacksandResident · 04/01/2009 22:46

"The guy in that new series Demons would've been good, in same sort of style (or has that been said already, 12 pages is too much to read...)"

Are they trying to go up against this sort of thing? And Angel / Buffy etc. Dr Who has enough about it to not need a fugly young thing at it's helm.

UnquietDad · 04/01/2009 23:00

I am reliably informed that the first Doc11 smut has already been posted.

Have you people no shame?!

VSisFlouncing · 04/01/2009 23:04

UQD wanna see a pic of his mum?
