Love Jonathan Creek so was excited about its return. Thought it was a very good comeback with some very clever bits . . . . BUT . . . It was a bit too dark maybe? Not much humour in it like there normally is. More like an ep of Wire in the Blood or something like that. Liked Sheridan Smith as the new sidekick though.

We thought it was a bit dark as well, but really clever.

Fingers crossed it's going to herald a new series sometime in the New Year.

really clever....I thought she had hid under teh bed and then crept out after he had unlocked everything to bring her coffee

I did suss the reference to the bath though when they were at teh show...DP dismissed it on the basis that no-one would ever get in that manky bath (I have to agree actually given how manky it was).

BUT...what I don't get is that if the slashing of the throat was for real how come there was not a bloodbath????

And I'm just bloody glad I had my bath and washed my hair before sitting and watching it. Possibly the worst way of dying I can imagine, that.

Who is Sheridan Smith? Has she been in something else? Thought she must have been something else well known (soap?), although I have never heard of her (Was more pleased to see Jen from the IT Crowd in it).

Wasn't Caroline Quentin in it originally?

I couldn't remember what had happened with Carla so have no idea why she told the nutter that he was dead.

Was reading at the same time and lost track of why he killed Elodie.

I have missed JC, but it was much darker than I recall - it was more puzzle than body count before wasn't it???

Oh, and didn't get the bath til the last min, but did realise from the start that the room wasn't where they said.

Sheridan Smith has been in Love Soup, 2 pints of lager and she had a bit part in Gavin & Stacey (I think at the time she was going out with James Corden).

Sheridan Smith was Anthony's girlfriend in The Royle Family too, wasn't she?
I only caught the last half hour of this (and never need to watch it all now I know whodunnit ) but the bath was flippin scary!

Sheridan Smith is also a companion of the eighth Doctor in the audio-adventures, so I was seriously loving her as the 'companion' in what is essentially Doctor Who without the aliens...

Thought it was very good and the bath thing freaked me out too but I didn't get why you would bath in a freaky room okay so first guy didn't know but the girl did...

Was too long and the bit where she rescued a painting rather than the man was a bit wierd. The plot really didn;t need her being 'punished' for her previous actions.

Thought the swapping of partners was odd....

it's odd isn't it...I don't know why they do 2 hour programmes tbh. I assume they sell them abroad and then you have to add advert breaks so 2 hours becomes a lot longer (though maybe abroad they split it into 2 chunks, don't know). Maybe they were doing it to match the length of marple. It could easily have fitted into 90 mins couldn't it.

Yep me tto, was getting quite obsessed with it by the end!! She usual has a great figure but they made her wear very short things with lots of material around the tummy area.

posters on DS reckon that the 3D porn subplot will be removed to sell the programme as a 90 minute episode abroad. Why we need a 2 hour episode, i don't know.
