I know, I think I missed a word because it changed it's meaning when I re-read I think it's how grotty I'm feeling

Good episode today (ignoring the Amy story [eyeroll])

thumbElf · 13/12/2008 00:49

yes. looks like Whit is starting to get a grip after all - hurrah!

Just HOW ditzy does Roxy have to be? Hiding that letter somewhere Archie can and will find it? I mean, HONESTLY! Far too contrived.

Is Beale still on the list for being whacked round the head with a spade?

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 13/12/2008 01:15

I think overhearing Tony yelling at Bianca will be a turning point for her! As much as it hurt Bianca what he said I hope she can turn around and say "Yeah but it showed you up to Whitney!"

Did I follow it wrong with the baby? She is coming off the ventilator and she smiled (under sedation because she's on a ventilator and still only 34/35 weeks)? Tink smiled well before she was 6 weeks CGA, but not preterm. I wish I was going to Bliss tomorrow so I could have a rant about it, will be January before the next meeting so not sure it will be as interesting then.

I don't know how Ian has survived as long as he has. Does anyone else think that he and Phil actually really like each other but can't bare to admit it?

thumbElf · 13/12/2008 01:22

smiled, ha. as Peggy said, more like wind! But then, is a windy smile still a smile? My DS used to do a smile just as he dropped off to sleep when he was teeny - just off the boob, quick twitch into a smile and then sleep.

No, I don't think you followed it wrong - did you not see Roxy get the letter re. the DNA test and hide it between 2 boxes of crisps? (FFS! ) Mental!

Ian and Phil - well, they have that link with Ben but I don't think Ian could ever cope with Phil shagging his mum, even still! S'funny, every time I think Ian is getting better, he just sinks down into the mire of Bealedom again and I want to slap him!

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 13/12/2008 01:32

I'd like to know how anyone can smile whilst they're mouth is strapped to a ventilator! Wind or not

Also, I've just realised, she didn't have an NG line in, how do they intend on feeding her or any other wires? And, she's been under sedation for 2/3 weeks, but now she's in a babytherm, awake and alert? Tink had an NG in until she had proven she didn't need it, I think she had one in that was never used. She was on an apnea monitor strapped to her toe until she was in a goldfish bowl and then an under the mattress type.

I laughed at the letter between the boxes, especially how she left one corner out, I thought that was going to be deliberate to story.

thumbElf · 13/12/2008 01:35

true! not having had the experience that you had, Tinsel, that didn't cross my mind. Especially as we only saw her out of the incubator today (didn't we? I might have missed a bit but the only time I remember seeing her was in Sean's arms)

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 13/12/2008 01:56

There was a babytherm in place of the incubator. It's a bit like an open incubator, has like a gel mat (bit like the stuff you freeze to put in a lunch box) that's heated to keep baby warm. They drop the temp a little a time until baby is stable at that temp, then when they get to a certain temp they don't need to be surrounded by it so they put them in a babytherm. When the babytherm gets down low enough they can move to a goldfish bowl. It seems odd that the baby is ready to come off the ventilator (without weaning - after 2/3 weeks? - we're to assume as Roxy didn't know), feed orally and maintain temperature all in one day!

Another oddity, I've never seen a babytherm flat not that I've seen loads, maybe different hospitals do it differently. I find the lock on the door odd. You can't get onto the NNU where Tink was without a card or being let in, a lock on the door would slow down emergency medical treatment and how often have we seen that door propped? It's the little things you notice lol, you'd think they'd have brought someone in for medical advice. I can accept some things vary between hospitals but I don't think I've seen anything that sits right.

thumbElf · 13/12/2008 02:09

you do sometimes wonder where they get their medical advice from, don't you. But even in actual medical dramas they sometimes drop clangers - less so now, I've noticed, but in the early days of Casualty there were some fun "mistakes" from a lab scientist pov. God, we were sad!

littleboyblue · 13/12/2008 08:29

Again, Bianca was fantastic, loved the angry nose twitching thing she had going on. Glad Whitney heard all Tony said.
Tiffany really made me laugh when she was asking Pat if they had to move and said "And then mum yells, Tiff, Liam, get the bin bags" Brilliant!!!!

The whole Amy story is annoying me a bit, there doesn't even seem to be enough emotion around it all let alone inaccuracies in treatment for her.
Didn't Roxy have a pair of jeans on? And therefore have a pocket?.......... Bloody stupid

SesHasnearlyreachedhalfway · 13/12/2008 08:43

LBB - I thought what about your pocket or even shove it in the waist of your jeans. You just wouldn't leave it!

I also agree that the little girl playing Tiff is great. Loud and mouthy but that's perfect for Bianca's daughter! Really funny too.

This week has been really well done with the Whit / Tony story line. The acting has been great and Patsy Palmer and the actress playing Whitney should both be nominated for the next round of awards.

littleboyblue · 13/12/2008 08:50

Yes, I was a bit doubtful at the start of the week with how it came out and how Bianca reacted, but she is just rilliant. Agree she should be up for an award or 2 for it, how she can hold herself back from beating him senseless is beyond me, really tought she was about to do it last nght but then Ricky to the rescue, think thst made me laugh the hardest!!

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 13/12/2008 09:55

I think they've read medical advice for the wrong age and now they've decided that as the baby is an acceptable age they'll do it like it's not prem, although that baby is far from prem anyway.

Casualty is a lot better these days, I think Holby has always been a lot better. I remember cringing at how they put someone on a long board on Casualty once, the head was rolling about, the head supports just thrown on and not holding the head... It's basics like that usually they miss on which is infuriating, I was 14 when I did my ambulance training, it's not rocket science!

I think it's funny that Bianca has children who's names end in "Y" and I'm sure the writers did it deliberately. Does anyone else remember the storyline with Tiffany trying to find a name for her new baby? She wouldn't have a name that ended in "Y", she hated them, she didn't think Courtney sounds like it does . Little Tiffany is so cute and funny, I can't quite believe she does the things she does she's so sweet!

LoveBeingAMummyKissingSanta · 13/12/2008 15:43

They defo did well choosing the kids this time.

I haven't watched it in aged but watched all this weeks on the iplayer, it was amazing! And janine is due to make a return, I think I'll have to start watching again.

I thought they were all brilliant.

loobyt · 14/12/2008 07:36

Isn't Janine planning to marry another older man and bump him off to get his money... again. You can tell it's christmas, all of the juicy storylines that are about to explode. Why can't they think up good plots all year round?

thumbElf · 14/12/2008 12:01

great! so long as it's Max, that's fine!

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 14/12/2008 18:12

No, it's an old Jewish man.
