oh yes, between the "this cannot be true" and the "oh crap, she doesn't realise she has been taken advantage of" and after/before all the other reactions

thumbElf · 09/12/2008 23:32

tbh tinsel I think the writers were being very careful not to let any violence into the scene so as not to detract from the main issue of the child abuse - but maybe I am overthinking it.

wotuhohohoinat · 09/12/2008 23:35

It was a brilliant episode. Great TV. Patsy Palmer was superb.
And Tony is NOT fit.

thumbElf · 09/12/2008 23:38

I hope I never have to hear his creepy voice again tbh - and I hope Patsy gets some kind of TV award for it.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 09/12/2008 23:38

as I have not been watching EE much, only really last / this week, when it stood by the door I did think "blimey, those ears!"

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 09/12/2008 23:40

thumbelf, I think you're right but I also think it's not that far removed for her character in the situation.

I think your first thought would be "it's not true" and probably anger that she's lying like that, which is why I made it the first realisation. Until you realise it's true you can't get past the other realisations.

RamblingRosa · 10/12/2008 19:30

Sorry I'm a latecomer to this. Didn't get online last night. Just wanted to say what an AMAZING episode it was last night.

Someone give Patsy Palmer a BAFTA. I've got newfound respect for her. I thought that was an incredible piece of acting on her part. Really raw and believable. I felt sick watching it and I blubbed the whole way through

donnie · 10/12/2008 20:06

I agree, it was totally believable and pretty harrowing - patsy palmer was great.

LoveBeingAMummyKissingSanta · 10/12/2008 21:07

Flipping norma!!!!!!

Does anyone know when Danielle tells Ronnie she is long lost daughter though?

LoveBeingAMummyKissingSanta · 10/12/2008 22:18

Maybe that'll be xmas too

I never watch Eastenders as dh can't bear soaps.

But last night I caught it on a repeat channel and thought it was a brilliant episode. 'Bianca' character was v. believable. Was still thinking about it today!

BabyBaby123 · 11/12/2008 09:36

i think the danielle storyline might come out with all the amy/sean/jack stuff on christmas day

geordieminx · 11/12/2008 09:58

Is last nights episode repeated apart from on iplayer?

wotuhohohoinat · 11/12/2008 13:20

Was it on last night? On a Wednesday?

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 11/12/2008 19:47

Stupid police woman looking down her nose and shaking her head! Don't they think it would be specialist coppers who would be used to people's reactions? Gah, they're not a very caring bunch are they?

We3kingsoforientRaahh · 11/12/2008 19:55

liam hugging his mum, and taking the little ones out of the way just made me cry...what a situation to be in

thumbElf · 11/12/2008 22:37

Pat seems to be missing the point somewhat at the mo - she needs to be enlightened into Whitney's thinking she is in lurve with slimy teapot-ears. Whitney needs to be told about Lauren, that might shake her up a bit,

littleboyblue · 12/12/2008 07:51

I take back everything negative I said about tuesdays(?) episode. Last night was brilliant!! Bianca was fantastic.
Ricky makes me laugh, he's such a sapp, I love him!
Tiffany's so cute and I did shed at tear at how grown up Liam was towards his mum and the little ones.
I wonder how long it'll take for everyone to realise that Whitney is 'in love' with Tony and honestly believes it's not abuse and everything else. They are ll assuming it was very sordid and she's been living in fear etc. It's not Pat's fault she's a bit clueless.......

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 12/12/2008 13:46

But it is abuse! He's made her feel that way to protect himself, that's what grooming is about. He's an adult and she was 12, how else can you explain it? If a 12 year old "throws themselves" at a 30 something man he has the power to resist and he should. What would he see in a 12 year old?

Tillyblue · 12/12/2008 13:55

Uurgh, DD is 12 almost. It makes my skin crawl but has had a big impact on her and dd2.
For one, they now no longer think of pervs just being hairy old men and I am glad.

Thumbelf. Lol at slimy teapot ears!

Now i just want Roxy and Sean to move to the country with a slide and swing and live hapily ever after with Amy. Then Ronnie to be overjoyed at finding Danielle.

It will never happen though will it?

thumbElf · 12/12/2008 15:29

settle down tinsel, we all know it's abuse regardless of how Whit thinks she feels about it!

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 12/12/2008 15:36

I'm settled. Sorry LBB, I think I dropped a word the first time I read your post, reading it just sounds different to what I remembered

LoveBeingAMummyKissingSanta · 12/12/2008 16:59

Dh went to bed whilst I watched the 10pm bbc3 showing, I was crying.

OP posts:
littleboyblue · 12/12/2008 17:39

TBM I wasn't saying it isn't abuse, I was saying that tha's not how Whitney sees it iyswim and that's what Pat and everyone else has to come to realise. I meant that they're probably thinking she's been laying awake shaking with fear when it's not been like that, I didn't for a second mean to come across like I thought it is ok or anything.....
You already know I don't proof read my posts, prob should've bolded the key words..
