my sons' school do not allow piercings

i dont even think the ear is relly pierced

Why should Tom have to ask if he has a piercing or not?

And it's blatantly obvious what's happening with his school - he hates it. He's unhappy there - he's told his parents he hates it. So he's acting up because he wants to get kicked out. IMO.

Never mind where the cat is. Where is Charlotte? We never see her any more

I'm prepared to be swayed on this suburbandryad - what age is it ok to get your body pierced without parental permissionand what age is it not?
I'm trying to remember the ages I was for various piercings, but it was all so long ago I can't!
I don't care what anyone says - I can forgive Tom being spoilt because I adore the way he has cuddles with his parents.

I would think that 14 is probably ok. I would be more upset that he did it himself, rather than getting it done properly. And I can see why his parents were upset that Tom didn't talk to them about it - I would rather that he discussed it, not to ask permission but just to talk it over.

I am tragically happy gthat the cat is back - this was an easier watch than the shouty emily episodes.
I may have to ask my mother how old I was to see where I stand on the piercing issue - someone inbetween the dryad and the otter I think!

I had my first piercing done at 15 (ears) with parental permission, having nagged at my mother for years to be allowed to have it done. I do wonder whether if I'd been allowed to have it done when I wanted (I think about 9 or 10) I probably wouldn't have got the other 9 piercings that I did without permission!

Personally I think if a girl wants them done, then the summer holidays between primary and secondary school is the best time. For a boy I would say 14 - I know that makes me an enormous hypocrite but there we go.

I think they went way ott about the piercing, but then I am one of the very very few on MN who's dd's had theirs pierced at 3.

I felt quite sorry for Tom this week.

Also want to know why Charlotte is rarely in the programme.

You're just recognising what's socially acceptable for boys and girls in this country. How could you explain that to your son when his sisters have got them though!
