EMILY NEEDS TO LEAVE HOME

a lot of 19 year olds are lazy night owl fetted bed layabouts - time to leave home

jenk1 · 15/10/2008 21:58

ive noticed that the mum complains to the dad about emily, and the dad complains to the mum about tom.

Yes, why doesn't she leave home? Has this been covered? Is she going to do further education? [granny emoticon]

Emily is the family scapegoat. (Agree she's a bit of a nightmare though!)

Whenever mum's not on at her, dad is (wasn't shown today). Mum and dad really need to show a united front IMO - it seemed really weird the way mum expects dad to do all the disciplining and communicating.

ahundredtimes · 15/10/2008 22:07

Yes, I think so too. Not fair on anyone. Then Mum blames Dad, but he's trying to keep everyone happy but then can't take it any longer and flips out about the bath.

Hmm. Easy pattern to fall into though I reckon.

southeastastra · 15/10/2008 22:09

mum spent alot of time in cod's word's 'perfecting her undereye bags in bed' lol

now thinking it's cynical editing

NotAnOtter · 15/10/2008 22:13

emily is NO scapegoat

i challenge any of you to live with someone who lives like that and not start nagging

what dad said about the contents of emilys bed 'glasses bottles' etc - so so true my dd would merrily sleep with a full cutlery drawer and half the contents of a coal scuttle under her duvet

Emily needs to move out, then they can refocus their energies on themselves and not on her all the time.

Why wasn't the son in it? Will he be in it next week?

IllegallyBrunette · 15/10/2008 22:15

At 10yrs old, mny Dd1 is an 'Emily' in the making.

We already have rows about her room, and her generally shitty attitude.

God help me.

ScareyBitchFeast · 15/10/2008 22:17

no, didnt you notice mum took the hoover upstairs
or perhaps that was meant for emily?

anyfucker · 15/10/2008 22:18

I have an Emily here. She is 13.

She made me cry with worry tonight (wasn't home when she said she would be)

Bloody teenagers!

anyfucker · 15/10/2008 22:19

is it too young to ask her to move out ?

pandoora · 15/10/2008 22:29

I think mum and dad are lovely parents. Emily is taking the piss, sleeping all day out all night. Fair enough if she had a job.
Changing the subject, their house is full of character but looks bloody freezing all the time!

mumblechum · 17/10/2008 11:47

The dad is irritating imo, he's far too wimpy most of the time then when he lost his temper with Emily he was practically throwing her out of the bedroom.

The mum is/was when young v. pretty. I kept getting the mum and Emily mixed up.

Doesn't she work? She seems to just hang around the house all day eating toast.

ruddynorah · 17/10/2008 12:08

she has/had 2 jobs.

the one she keeps not going to, where 'pauline' rings looking for her is a part time job in warehouse the clothes shop.

her other job is as a 'tequila girl' which is a night job.

I think the parents are remarkably patient actually and seem to manage combining discipline and showing love to their children at the same time. I bet those kids never feel unloved even when he is roaring at them.

The going out thing wouldn't really bother me tbh as long as I wasn't being woken up. The not cleaning the bath thing though would really piss me off.

Seems to me to be a classic case of the alpha female thing going on between Mum and Emily. She needs to move out.

frankbestfriend · 17/10/2008 13:39

Agree with others that Emily will not grow up until she moves out, I was the same, no appreciation or respect for my parents until I had to take responsibility for myself.

I think they are great parents, sometimes sulky and shouty like the rest of us, but always loving and affectionate. They are more patient with Emily than I think I could ever be.

Agree with ALMummy, bet the kids always know they are loved.
