I was very surprised that Don was kept in. I thought he was all over the place in the dance off. Travesty that Gary stayed in.

I thought both Ola and Lilia looked pregnant.

Also that John Sarjeant really reminded me of Jo Brand, both in looks and dry sense of humour.

I felt so sorry for Phil (irrationally so) I thought he tried really hard and was obviously really concentrating. Must be gutting to go out in the first week.

do the celebrities get paid a flat fee regardless of how long they stay in the competition or do they get paid week by week?

LauraT, DH and I were just discussing whether some of the professionals had put on weight since the last series. Matthew definitely had a bit of a muffin top over his trousers when he was dancing with Alisha Dixon. I think quite a few of them were touring in a SCD show so perhaps living in hotels and having a full English every morning was what did it. It must be hard to keep your fitness levels up and control your diet when you're away from home all the time. They'll probably all lose weight as the series goes on, both professionals and celebrities.

I think Gary should have gone, but there are 4 men who were clearly going to be knocked out in the first 4 weeks and the only thing that needed to be decided was the order. I don't think the men were particularly strong at all this year, but as far as I remember they never seem that good the first week and often improve very rapidly as the series progresses, especially the sportsmen.

Was wondering about the fee thing... I thought alot of the pro dancers looked a bit heavier - Karen WTF was with that hideous choreography, Lilia maybe isnt that tall hence the thighs looking chunky, and as for Ola - if her arse hadn't fell out her puppies looked like they were making a bid for freedom

Anyone betting that Gary is going to be this year's Kate Garraway? Cannot believe that he was not in the dance off - presume people were voting for him as a joke?!

Gutted - missed half of the show as DS would not go to sleep.

I am voting for Tom - may be smug, but looks great, and Christine, even if she did have a hand in splitting up Adrians marriage, if you believe the tabloids!

I thought Olgas cat suit was indecent, and wasnt keen on that highlighter green dress! I didnt notice any buldge with lilia, but will be looking out next week!!!!

I think they get paid the full amount no matter how long they stay in - celebs and dancers alike. But not all the celebs get paid the same fee.

Gary Rhodes is ridiculous btw.

And I still can't figure out what Erin's done to herself - eye job? Definitely something's happened to her teeth.

I think you need to have long legs to look good in a catsuit. Both Lilia & Ola are on the short side so some of the outfits are very unforgieving.

Yep! and I agree about Jo Brand too.

Flavia seems lovely, it was a shame she went.
But personally, I think Lilia is in a league of her own dance wise especially the Latin dances. I thought both she and Ola looked pregnant when they were wearing long, flowing ball gowns but not so much with the short sassy numbers (although Lilia's cleavage has that distinct pregnant look imo).
I don't really get Karen Hardy- she reminds me of myself dancing and has over the top facial expressions (but seems really nice).
BTW, so glad that others have notieced the Jo Brand thing!

Margo - my dh commemtned on John Sargeant looking like Jo Brand and I said that he looked line an older Martin Clunes, so yes, I agree with yuo!

Is it me or are the ladies outfits all looking a bit naff this year? They seem to be harking back to the 80's (but not in a good way.)

The results show group dance was awful. Poor Jodie Kidd looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

I didn't like the group dance either- I thought maybe Craig choreographed it (he has in the past) and that was why he was quite restrained.

Did anyone else think that Claudia didn't seem herself?

Ola's outfir was grotesque and unflattering, even on someone with such a knockout body.

Gary was terrible. He should def not have got the pity vote. He should have gone.

I reckon Gillian Taylforth will be the first to go next week.

I can already tell that Lisa Snowdon is going to get on my wick. She's too pouty and writhing for my liking.

My fave women were prob Cherie thingy and Rachel Stevens.

I was prepared to not like the new Russian platinum blonde dancer as she looked a bit slutty in the preview show but her waltz was so beautifully elegant that I forgave her

More terrible frocks for poor old Tess though. The wardrobe mistress must really hate her . I do wish she'd stop slouching though, it looks especially bad in strapless dresses.

It looks like Claudia Winkleman has toned down the mad 60's make up. She looked normal and modern on the Sunday show.
