I thought this started on 20th Sept. DH reckons he's seen a trailer saying it is tomorrow!

Thinking about the jives - Austin does have a 'charisma' in that dance - he seems very confident. He also has a VERY endearing smile I think - Tom is a little smoother, and his dance was maybe a little more 'rehearsed' than 'natural'. Although he was great as well. I actually think he and Camilla were let down by the choice of music - it was slower, and didn't particularly 'fit' the dance - the music for Austin's really 'lifted' the dance and gave that sense of enjoyment.

Maybe it's just my DP who has simple neanderthal tastes (although not sure what that says about me !). Flavia and Matt made a gorgeous couple. Imagine how lovely their babies would be! Shame they split up. Vincent's really v annoying and IMO not much of a looker. Good dancer mind you.

tortoiseshell, I was a bit disappointed by a lot of the music choices for the jive. IMO you can't go wrong with some classic proper jiving music like that used for the group dance - the more contemporary choices can definitely detract from the energy.

But then I do love a bit of raucous swing music/proper rock and roll, so I would say that

I love this thread. Normally this stuff is full of us hormonal mums lusting after the male totty. This time we're all lusting after Ola and Flavia. I totally agree about the Flavia thing - but then I've always preferred the Katherine Zeta Joneses to the Gwynneth Paltrows

Couldn't agree more about the music.
I loved that fact that 3 of the 4 (I think) tangos used what sounded like 'traditional' tango music. I was really put off by the music that Ola chose for their tango.

Also agree that Erin's choice was perfect - really happy, cheerful and fast. I absolutely loved the bit when Oz walked towards the judges. The lyrics fit him so well - very clever by Erin there.

It has taken me a while to forgive Erin for probably throwing away the third serise with that daft show dance she did with Colin Jackson. I was voting for Darren Gough anyway but I felt that she made a serious error of judgement there and, possibly, cost them the win.

Tigerschick - dh and I STILL talk about that stupid dance she did with the dummies. We're a bit sad aren't we?

She REALLY wants to win this year.

I remember how scathing Arlene was re the Dummy dance- i think she was angry that they had blown their chances in such a big way. It was almost like Erin sabotaged her own chances, for whatever reason. She will def be out to prove herself this time.

Me and dh were talking about the dummy dance too! I love Colin Jackson and was so gutted... Don't think Erin has ever forgiven herself either, she seems fairly competitive and must know she cocked it up.

In some documentary about SCD earlier this year, Bruce and some of the judges were fairly open about how much she had blown her chances of winning and how it was a risk that just didn't pay off.

I'm intrigued! Tell me more about this dummy dance - I didn't see any of that series.

Zeb, Erin and Colin were in the final and IMO a billion times better than the other couple (was it Darren Gough that year). Then Erin choreographed a weird dance where she was dressed as a man and both she and Colin were dancing with life-size lady dolls. I kid you not. And yes, it was as awful as it sounds. I'm sure you can find it on the SCD website or youtube. It was a shame because Colin was so good and I think everyone felt that Erin had blown it for him by trying to do something clever that didn't work at all.

That was actually a rare final with three competitors, the other being Zoe Ball, who was also excellent. I was rooting for Colin and appalled by the dummy dance. Erin's rationale was that Colin was so good he could do an entire dance on his own so why not wheel out a couple of godawful dummies to prove it.

Always felt Colin should have won that one, although Darren did a spectacular showdance.

OMG - me and dh also still talk of the dummy dance. Is it me or is Erin not looking very happy at the mo? I mean dancing with Austin, I would be all smiles.

Have to say Flavia is gorgeous, she is my fave of the pro ladies, of the men well I dont know if any of you remember but PAUL KILLER KILLICK (as JLC used to call him) no one has measured up to him for me since, it is all about the hips.

just watched the dummy dance - i thought it was a nice bit of fun actually! not the cringefest i anticipated.

Flavia is indeed very gorgeous (despite the Mr Burns overbite ) but when it comes to bottoms you can't top Lillia. Phew. Definitely 'one for the Dads'.

It's amazing the effect that steroids have had on Dec Donnelly though.

Oh, I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who still remembers the 'dummy dance'!

Cyteen - I haven't watched it again but I'm sure that, for what it is, it's OK but it was completely inappropriate as the show dance at the end of the serise ... Compare with Darren amd Lillia's Mark and Karren's or Jill and Darren's ... And of course, Alesha's! (Quality a bit dodgy on some, but hey)

Tribpot - Serise 2, 3, 4 and 5 were all supposed to have 3 couples in the final but unfortunately it only happened in serise 2 and 3. (Serise 2 Erin and Julian Clary finished 3rd and serise 3, of course, it was Zoe Ball) That meant that, mid-way through the night, they were knocked out of the comp -they still got to do their show dance, but it didn't count. That's probably why they have the results show on the Saturday night for the final.

It didn't happen in series 4 or 5 because someone (Jimmy Tarbuck and Kelly Brooke) pulled out mid-competition.

I guess they have a system where, if someone pulls out, that's how they keep to their schedualling responsibilities ... don't know what they'd do if 2 people pulled out; let's hope we don't have to find out!

Oh dear, I've gone right off Tom. He might have a lovely tight bot, but man does he fancy himself.
