i liked JLS too, but for the first show, it was a tricky song. But i say it every year i watch this, a group doesn't seem to stand a chance of winning, any more than an 80 year old, so why put them through it?

And Eoghan may have a short shelf life (not easy to say that!!)..but he is sweet..

What i really don't get is how, with a fair number of songs to choose from, the judges can still manage to nearly sabotage their acts on the first show. What does it prove? Rachel will get over it, but I think Scott will struggle to get over the obvious distress he felt in the first show. I don't think he should have been in the final 12, (I would have picked Mali) but he deserved a better chance than that. I hope next week is better.

Diana has my vote, for being different to all the big voiced divas that there are plenty of already. But i doubt themajority would agree.

i have just read that the leon single , and the fake winners song from the Peter Kay spoof, are really close in the midweek charts. It will be some irony if 'Geraldine' actually gets to number one. How humiliating for Leon, though!

Looking forward to tomorrow. it's Michael Jackson week- really hope no-one does Ben!! (If any one does, my bet would be Eoghan!)

BTW, the song was written about his young friend Ryan who died from AIDS, aged 18, in 1990 He was a haemophiliac (sp), and it was one of the first times the disease was acknowledged as having spread beyond the gay community. (Ta, wiki!),all very sad

However, not the best song choice in the world for this competition, if the rumoured list is true!
