Help me remember the actor's name

Just to satisfy my itching brain!
Had a dream last night which featured an actor walking across a car park. He seemed familiar and I'm sure he's a real person.
The problem is, I can't think of much detail.
He's the sort of person who'd be in drama things like murder mysteries or maybe period dramas of the 1920s/1930s - he'd be playing a hotel proprietor type character.
I think he's fairly tall. He's an older actor - or at least, was then - he may have died.
White hair, with a bit of a wave, sometimes worn slicked back. A bit 'jowly' but not with a particularly wide face and has a moustache.
It's NOT Richard Griffiths. There's a similarity but the actor I'm thinking of has a narrower face than that and I don't think he has glasses.

Any ideas?

I'm still sure it WAS an actor because in the dream he looked LIKE the actor I'm trying to pin down, who in turn looks LIKE but isn't, Richard Griffiths.
I'm hoping that at some point I'll have a flash of inspiration and be able to satisfy both myself and everyone on this thread.

I don’t think anyone’s mentioned Arthur White? He’s David Jason’s brother, has done lots of character acting. He’s got that slightly jowly look and the white hair.

I haven't RTFT so don't know if anyone else has tried this but I tried copying this description and the bit about the cream suit into Google Gemini and asked it to produce a likeness. Does he look anything liked this OP?

The face on the first one is more similar to how I'm imagining but that may be because he looks happier.
I think he may have glasses - possibly oval with a gold frame. Hair is a bit more 'piled up' at the front. I'm struggling to articulate exactly how. It's not a high hairline but it's possibly flipped from the first image and just a little more onto the face.
Maybe a cravat rather than a tie but again, that AI image is very good. He needs to be a bit heavier, and in my mental picture he's standing, possibly walking towards me, so you can see how the double chin leads into the neck more.

I've not yet gone through all the suggestions, but hope to over the weekend.

Absolutely brilliant work @EntirelyUnnecessary …those pictures are amazing. The first one in particular looks really like Stephen Moore, in the last one more like James Ellis.
