Well seeing as I did the threads last year I might as well kick things off again for 2026 now that the first teaser trailer has dropped.

If you haven’t seen it, watch here:

As a reminder, here’s the line up:

  • Amol Rajan – Journalist and Broadcaster
  • Bella Ramsey – Actor
  • James Acaster – Comedian and Podcaster
  • James Blunt – Singer/Songwriter
  • Jerry Hall – Model and Actress
  • Joanne McNally – Comedian
  • Joe Lycett – Comedian
  • Julie Hesmondhalgh – Actor
  • King Kenny – Content Creator
  • Leigh-Anne Pinnock – Singer/Songwriter
  • Maya Jama – Broadcaster and Entrepreneur
  • Michael Sheen – Actor and Presenter
  • Miranda Hart – Actor and Author
  • Myha’la – Actor
  • Professor Hannah Fry– Broadcaster and Mathematician
  • Richard E. Grant – Actor and Author
  • Rob Beckett – Comedian
  • Romesh Ranganathan – Comedian
  • Ross Kemp – Actor and Presenter
  • Sebastian Croft – Musician and Actor
  • Sharon Rooney – Actor

I’m guessing we’ll get 2 women and 1 man as the initial Traitors and hoping the Secret Traitor has been binned.

Will the Big Dog Theory come back? Will we get another Nick/Joe style bromance?

Feel free to espouse your theories on how it might play out.

Yes, I think that she modelled for one of Roxy Music's album covers, the one with the mermaid. She was extraordinarily beautiful. She was with Bryan, they might have been engaged and then she left him for Mick Jagger. Bryan was absolutely devastated.

I'm dredging this up from memory from forty odd years ago.

I think Jealous Guy was about Jerry leaving him

Molly was hopeless I'm pretty sure at one point she thought there were no traitors left, even though they hadn't caught one since the last murder. No wonder Harry kept her in so long really 😆

When Fiona outed Rachel last year, then they got Fiona as a Traitor. Harriet was the only one who said 'that was Traitor on Traitor' - because why would a Traitor go that hard on a Faithful out of nowhere and put themselves on the spotlight like that? But they banished Ross instead, for some inconspicuous reason.

He should never have accepted the offer of recruitment. He was a dead man walking at that point so it would have been better to get murdered and let the faithful know how off the scent they were, and force the traitors' hand. He knew how much heat was on him so he must have realised they were only recruiting him so he'd get banished instead of one of them, and of course the faithful didn't think he might have only been recruited the night before.

It would have been noble self sacrifice rather than a comic one day job...

So happy The Traitors is back on!

Great line up and think it’ll get better and better.

I think REG is probably toast at first round table. There’s so little to go on. Either James or Amol being murdered corroborates REG as Traitor.

I felt Maya was genuinely trying to help REG but perhaps she is very cleverly trying to throw him under the bus. She may know he can’t be salvaged.

Excited to see more from Blunt, Hannah, Joe Lycett . Also love Julie, Rob & Romesh. Sharon seems very funny too. So many great players. I have a good feeling about this 🙏🏼

gingercat02 · 02/10/2026 14:38

Loved the first episode. Not one I dislike which is good.
No idea what REG is on, I suspect he is cleverer than we all suspect.
I will be sad to lose Amol or James so early.
I'm out tonight so will catch up tomorrow

It was written by John Lennon, Bryan Ferry did a cover version. He did ge the title for his song Avalon from a book she left behind when she went off with Jagger called "the mists of Avalon"

gingercat02 · 02/10/2026 14:40

Oh don't know where I got that from then!

Was that with Sam the traitor? I couldn't finish that series, I found it unwatchable. I heard about the ending and that was sooooo predictable. What a shit and unsatisfying way to end the game.

Just watch the final episode to see Sam’s comeuppance! I agree - the rest of it was unwatchable but that final episode…

Becknutmeg · 02/10/2026 13:23

I agree. I'd keep him in for ages and just keep trying to see who he doesn't publicly interact with/throw under the bus.

Also if they take him out early another faithful is converted in their place. Keep in the known traitor rather than substituting for an unknown one. Can also see who he votes for/ who votes for him

I don't suspect he is clever at all. I genuinely think he thought it was a 'game' (as in, we've done the round table for the cameras, we are all now having a few off duty drinkie-poos, I'll just tell my fellow contestants that I'm a traitor, then we will get back to doing the pretending / acting / 'TV show') Am I the only one who thinks this?

A bit like when Louis Walsh used to spill his guts to Sharon Osborne on CBB and say "They aren't really filming us ALL THE TIME"

Adding: not sure if that makes sense, but as if he has been asked what role he was playing in a drama.

accidentalmillionaire · 02/10/2026 14:47

@RainbowZebraWarrior I agree. I don't think he's that bright.
James Acaster on the other hand has really surprised me. So far, quite perceptive, and made a very good, clear argument

Me too re: James Acaster. I so hope he stays. I have to admit I have found him quite annoying in the past (I'm an autistic woman and autistic men are sometimes too much for me, but I really feel for him and admire him after last night's ep)

I skipped to the end so I saw it, but I couldn't enjoy it. I actually don't like seeing people genuinely sad and upset even if they've been awful, and as soon as they explained how they were going to resolve it, it was obvious what was going to happen. It was just really unsatisfying and irritating.

jumpintheline · 02/10/2026 14:52

I think REG genuinely had a brain fart. Forgot they were still game playing. Joe caught him off guard and he gleefully blurted it out.

He should have dramatically paused and said I WISH !!! No sadly I am faithful, of course!!

My DH has had the honour (if you can call it that) of spending time with R.E.G. reasonably recently at a friend’s dinner party and the second Claudia touched his shoulder yelled ‘Oh GOD, don't do THAT!’ at the tv. He is absolutely bonkers, some would say in a marvellous way, some would say in an exhausting way. He definitely didn’t calculate what he was saying beforehand, I don’t think hes cognitively capable of that tbh.

ThatCyanCat · 02/10/2026 14:57

Actually I think he just got off on having the upper hand over everyone and felt invincible. Remember that guy who was a traitor in, I think, the first Aussie series? He was far, far too glad to be chosen - he did this really creepy grin under the blindfold - and after one murder, for absolutely no reason, he suddenly claimed to everyone that the traitors had tried to recruit him the night before. The other traitors looked absolutely horrified because there had been no discussion or plan for him to do this. He was just really enjoying having the upper hand and feeling like he was rubbing people's noses in it. He was even grinning as he said it. Twat. He got banished that night.

I think REG was in the same headspace. He was loving being a traitor far too much.

You’d have to ask the directors I guess…

friedaklein · 02/10/2026 15:07

How does he learn his lines ?

Quite a few actors have them on paper out of sight of the camera. Someone famous (Marlon Brando, maybe, I can't remember) used to prefer it because he didn't actually like knowing his lines too well as he thought it made him over-rehearsed and not natural and spontaneous enough. It's definitely one for film and TV actors though, can't see it working on stage.

BobbiBiscuits · 02/10/2026 15:11

I wonder what tonight's show will bring.. Hope it's as entertaining!

I'll forever see Ross Kemp as Julian Clary now.. 'Don't touch me!'😆

I know nothing about James Blunt and when he kicked into gear at the first challenge, I came over all unnecessary 😳. Then DH told me he had been a Captain in the Army and I came over all unnecessary again. Weird.🙃😂

I'm watching it just for him. He has a colourful history and a very self depricating sense of humour. He takes the mickey out of his one hit wonder Beautiful because it's made him a fortune.
His autobiography Loosely Based on a Made up Story is brilliant.
