Just had a hankering, points for obscurities with ludicrous premises

OK I'll start: Midnight Caller
Jack Killian, late night San Francisco DJ and sometime crime-fighter(?), with a Moonlighting rip-off will they/won't they thing with blonde boss.
Really rubbish.

Love thy neighbour - was that the one where it was just hilarious to live next door to a black person?

MrsSprat · 27/06/2008 16:21

right serious question, I have never ever been able to find anyone who remembers "A sharp intake of breath". It was a late 70s sitcom that ran for 4 (4?!!!) series about some hapless husband (a pre Del Boy David Jason) fighting petty minded bureaucracy?

Anyone?

I do remember it. Amusing antics with someone falling off a ladder, and someone else repeating the end of every sentence?

MrsSprat · 27/06/2008 16:24

thank you UQD. The ep that sticks in my head was where he was best man, guess what, lost the ring and they had to use a rude keyring instead. Ho ho ho

Has it ever been repeated?

My So Called Life with Jared Leto n Claire Danes. Only got one series. Don't know why.

Has that been mentioned?

Punt and Dennis. 'milky milky'

MrsSprat · 27/06/2008 16:32

Love thy Neighbour ran for EIGHT series!

"...Launching the series, the TV Times proudly announced, "It is about racial prejudice - with a difference. It should make us laugh a lot... and think a lot, too." ..."

Good lord

Desmonds too and the wonder years .
Does anyone remember Beuty and the beast when it was based in New York and the beast lived underground and beauty was a journalist i think?

MrsSprat · 27/06/2008 16:47

Hmmm, the lion-faced beast in the sewers. That was indeed a rough old programme.

Right, back to the 80s - The Cuckoo Waltz (I think with Peter Davison)
Relative Strangers with Matthew Kelly

and the American one with "Balky" who was Ukrainian or something

OP posts:
MrsSprat · 27/06/2008 16:59

This one (Holding the Fort) sounds like a MN thread:

Russell Millburn (Peter Davison) works for a brewery.

When he's told that he'll have to move to Workington if he wants to keep his job, he decides to set up in business himself.

Russell's wife Penny (Patricia Hodge) decides to resume her Army career, leaving Russell to look after their baby daughter Emma during the day.

Russell starts a small brewing business, working from home.

He's "helped" by Fitz (Matthew Kelly).

AIBU to go back to the army leaving my DH with DD while he sets up a brewing business?

Party of Five

A very peculiar Practice

moshie · 27/06/2008 17:27

does anyone remember Man From Atlantis, with Patrick Duffy, complete with webbed feet?
this was pre-Dallas (showing my age now)

Mercy · 27/06/2008 17:32

I do!

squeaver · 27/06/2008 17:36

oh LOVED man from Atlantis! He was supposed to be THE star of Dallas when it started because he was so big because of that show.

meridian · 27/06/2008 19:22

ohhh 80's TV my favourite... next to 80's movies that is...

Wonder Woman
Amazing Stories ( the stories weren't really all that amazing but I was a kid and didn't care)
Moonlighting
Little House on the Prarie
THe Fall Guy (possibly the best theme tune)
THe Dukes of Hazzard
Battlestar Gallatica (proper version none of this Starbuck is a girl or coffee for that matter)
Quantum Leap
Buck Rogers
Macguyver ( how could you not worship a guy who could break into a lazer coverd building, rescue the girl, say something witty with only the help of a stick of gum, a paper clip and a rubber band)
Knight Rider ( this was also DH's fav he apparently tried to convince his dad to cut the steering wheel on the family car, weeks of campaigning never worked )
Air Wolf
The Outer Limits
The Muppet SHow

ermmm can't think of any more.. so will read though thread ..

bamboostalks · 27/06/2008 19:34

Who remembers that bizarre American import, Beauty and the Beast with Linda Hamilton? That was strange looking back, him living in a tunnel with the face of a lion solving mysteries. Did they get it together in the end?

CaptainUnderpants · 27/06/2008 19:41

Bamboostalks - I remebr that one !

Has anyone mentioned Hart to Hart yet ?

MrsSprat · 27/06/2008 20:26

Was that Linda Hamilton (as in Terminator)? I'm shocked - look
