The stuff I’m so struck by is how many of these men have major daddy issues.

HS mum is a disgrace, she should be ashamed of her son, but she’s swapped her parental morals for him to pay for her lifestyle.

the thing that I always come back to is if you have to say your an “alpha” you absolutely are not. Every time Louis saw the influence on kids, he looked like he was dying a little inside,

all of these people, when their fame disappears in five years max, where do they go from there? They all seem supremely unhappy in their lives, and couldn’t get their head around Louis having the best of everything, fame, money, fortune, respect….

but ultimately, all these influencers and content creators bang on about how they don’t like “mainstream media” but they are desperate for the approval of mainstream media. That’s why they all agreed to be involved. Because they wanted to be on Netflix, they want to be on a BBC doc, cos they know that their platforms are so precarious.

The daddy issues thing was interesting. Anyone who’s ever argued with a “red pilled” man will know “daddy issues” is their favourite insult for any woman who disagrees with them.

“oh you don’t like my idea that we should all live like we’re under taliban occupation? Bet your dad left you huh”

Who knew they were projecting the whole time.

Did I hear tikkytokkys mummy sent him to private school and he talks like a fake gangster 😂

Codyrhodesisaheel · 16/03/2026 16:34

I did wonder @Lurkinginthedarkness whether the private school background was actually part of the problem? I think there's genuinely a HUGE issue when 'success' is defined by monetary value rather than societal impact.

It's a superficial element of having the car, the Rolex, the house...rather than actually, to me, success is about "am I happy? Am I putting good into the world? Am I actually helping society?"

InMyOpenOnion · 16/03/2026 16:42

I found it really disturbing and ended up stopping 20 mins before the end, I'd had enough. It was telling how that twat with the podcast show shut down any conversations that Louis tried to have with the women. What struck me most though, is that they're a bunch of insecure, poorly educated men and the internet gives them a platform for it, rather than helping address their obvious issues.

Unfortunately, I cannot bear Louis Theroux. I find him too smug and patronising.

Hasn’t he been very dismissive of issues affecting women before. I’m sure there was some controversy about him.

Has he? Example please? I haven't heard this.

I thought Louis did really well in the doc, and handled it better than most. They were thugs, I don't know how they escaped prison for attacking that man within one of the scenes. It was sickening.

Tinytimmy123 · 17/03/2026 20:15

Just finished this documentary.
My thoughts...

🤢

Glad I'm single.

All these 'men' wearing handbags in the manosphere 😂

Most of them were crapping it that LT would 'stitch them up' ...but they did that themselves by opening their mouths.

Still laughing at the guy who couldn't pronounce LTs name. 😂

twentyeightfishinthepond · 18/03/2026 16:40

I’ve just watched it. There were some revolting men on it. I was quite shocked at the end that they were so horribly antisemitic, even more especially as their own political heroes are working with Israel.

Crushed23 · 21/03/2026 02:41

Anxietyspiral · 12/03/2026 23:23

Im about 3/4 of the way through and wow, its really eye opening. I knew a bit about the toxic male culture and had seen clips of Andrew Tate but some of the other influencers I'd never heard of. I think most of them vastly inflate their 'wealth' as it looks good for their followers

Some of the dialogue with HS and his goons had me rolling!

HS: You've got big cameras
Louis: Yeah we're the real deal, we're not Youtubers

Random man: Is that a peado?
Goon: No, its Louis Fur-ox!

😂😂😂

Totally agree about vastly inflating their wealth to get more followers / scam them into “investing” etc.

HS claims to make £20m a year, but he is shown live-streaming for 7 hours which would earn him £300/hour if there is enough engagement. So £2k a day. He probably has a couple of other income streams, but then he’s paying a full-time videographer and security guard. Doesn’t add up.

Then there was the guy in Miami who spends $20k a month on rent, has 2 kids and a girlfriend who doesn’t work, and spunks his money on super cars and suits, and we’re supposed to believe his net worth is $30m?

twentyeightfishinthepond · 21/03/2026 04:31

Within 3 minutes of watching that show, I was annoyed. It’s good, but a hard watch.

Codyrhodesisaheel · 21/03/2026 15:32

It's all smoke and mirrors @Crushed23 They don't own those cars, they lease them (or even hire them for a day). They are paying vast sums of money in rent on a flashy penthouse without actually investing in property. So as soon as things crash and burn they're left with nothing. Let's be honest, we all know HSwankysocky hasn't put any money into a pension or a savings account for his future.

Its the same as the agents on Selling Sunset - they don't own their designer clothes, they rent them for the day. Probably the same as housewives I should imagine.

I've watchined Greg James all week doing his bike challenge and I REALLY wish we could say to people "this is what a real man looks like" - someone who has worked his arse off, genuinely likeable, open with his feelings, supportive of others, adores his wife and dogs, clearly loved by his coworkers.

That is what success should be.

Yeah, that wouldn’t surprise me. It’s the whole ‘fake it till you make it’ but taken to the extreme.

I found the hostility towards Theroux by these grifters very, very interesting. They understood that this is a man who has worked hard and built his career and reputations over decades, and therefore has earned respect from respectable people, so to speak. They also seemed to understand that this was a Better Man and his achievements were more deserving of admiration and respect than their instant-gratification anything-for-clout route to money and fame. When Louis asked “why not inspire good in people and not cater to their worst impulses?” to HS, you could see him agreeing with Louis but not really having an answer beyond the contradictory twaddle of “I don’t approve of it, but I promote it for the $$$”.

Very interesting documentary, I thought.

Codyrhodesisaheel · 21/03/2026 19:37

They will absolutely be doing stuff like this - https://shootaviation.co.uk/studio-sets-mockups/private-jet-interior/

what I find amazing is that they are so “anti mainstream media” but the second mainstream media comes calling, they are wetting themselves in excitement. They wanted the clout of being on Netflix. Heck, even Mr Beast sold out to Amazon, and they would bite their own bollocks off if it got them their own show on the BBC.

The men in this were unappealing and it was interesting to see how many made their money not through their streaming nonsense but through dodgy investment schemes preying on the vulnerable men they claimed to represent.
i also felt everone had it in for the Jews. The lefty Free Palestine movement hate Israel/ Jews and the far right groups also hate them. It was interesting seeing former Trump supporters turn against him for supporting Israel rather than Iran. With their views on women that shouldn’t be surprising.

Fizbosshoes · 22/03/2026 19:29

In the Romesh Ranganathan podcast with Louis theroux he explains (to a certain extent) how they make money. Its a very interesting - and funny episode

TheeNotoriousPIG · 22/03/2026 19:54

I admit that I haven't yet seen the documentary (no Netflix account at present), but I've watched the trailer and heard a lot of people talking about it.

Needless to say, I felt reassured when I saw a fellow female farmer do a post about her opinion on it. It involved telling men to behave, otherwise she'd be after them with a castration ring and pliers, and I imagine that most other female farmers would feel the same way 😂

I know you're trying to be light-hearted, but your post really pressed my buttons. I just don't think this is a light-hearted issue (and whilst I'm at it castration rings and pliers in the context of humans isn't that funny either). I know this could be taken as po-faced. I think I'm just sick of the whole misogynistic world we live in.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 22/03/2026 20:33

Sorry for any offence caused, @Rostio ! I appreciate that we all have different senses of humour (although I'm glad to see that you also frown on misogyny). Farm humour can be seen as a bit bizarre to the rest of the world at times, but it keeps us going. Enjoy the rest of your evening! 😊

The absolute perfect antidote to the manosphere rubbish around. He's got his own thread but wanted to share it here too.

Wow !! With all the dumb awards that are usually handed out, this is one that is truly well deserved. 👏

MisoA · 25/03/2026 23:03

It’s clever. I think there is a gap where young men obviously need dating tips and support, a sense of community. They’ve found a way to make money out of that.

I’m not convinced that the influencers actually believe what they’re saying….they'll say anything to make a fast buck but come across as terrified of the women in their lives and losing them.

The scary thing is there are loads of lonely young men out there who will literally buy into this. It’s irresponsible.

Fizbosshoes · 25/03/2026 23:32

I saw on social media this week, an influencer who was into looksmaxxing (dont know if ive spelled that right?) He allegedly advocated hitting yourself in the face with a hammer to get a more chiseled look....Confused
I would hope anyone looking at it would think it was absolute lunacy....but given hes an influencer maybe some people might actually believe him.....which is concerning on many levels...

MisoA · 25/03/2026 23:50

It is scary especially with cases of kids inadvertently taking their own lives after watching online content….can only hope to raise sensible kids who aren’t mindless sheep.

If you're talking about Clavicular, he also non chalantly described going from taking Adderall to crystal meth every day because he is "leanmaxxing" and seems to be on a pretty serious downward spiral. I really hope young people aren't actually influenced by him.

That lady who is the guy's wife about 30 minutes in, looks absolutely fucking terrified. Her voice is shaking, she seems to be wanting to say the right things, her husband pulls her close and she looks so tense and scared. Aw, and then he dismisses her, gives her the little dog and tells her to go clean up. Off she trots. I hope she escapes

Edited

They did separate but weren't married.
