I watched it and found all the "influencers" unbearable, and - i feel really judgemental saying this - several came across as thick as pig shit (as well as misogynistic, violent, homophobic, racist, anti-semetic etc).

But they are clearly very successful as influencers, and it seems wealthy, which is really disturbing and disheartening that this is the message/attitude/lifestyle that is attracting a whole co-hort of teens/young men. DS is 16 and said (about the programme) this is why he doesnt listen to or watch podcasts "because they are all like that" . Obviously there are thousands of podcasts that aren't like that (I listen to all sorts) ....but as a teenage boy I really worry that is the stuff he is exposed to

dancingredshoes · 11/03/2026 23:38

Did anyone else just think what low value men they all are? And bleeding insecurity! I watch shows like that and feel so much better about myself, that I’m not part of such an insecure, vapid world! Imagine that being your life! Just looks and money! That HS was so unhappy in his life and his mum did a disservice to women everywhere but not calling him out on his bullshit! If that was my son I would have wiped the floor with him. I do laugh when you watch these dumb fucks think they’re being so intelligent and relish when it all crumbles around them! The guy with the dog, another insecure misogynist! Trying not to cry whilst he explains his girlfriend left him!

dancingredshoes · 11/03/2026 23:41

@TellySavalashairbrushthe majority of girls are bought up to value themselves! Every woman and man in this programme placed their value in money and their looks. The irony being that the men were the male equivalents of the OF girls they ridiculed! None of them looked happy or cracked a genuine smile! The girls looked like scared rabbits in headlights! Embarrassing for all of them!

Wendalicious · 11/03/2026 23:42

That HS reminded me of Grinder from People Just Do Nothing- what an absolute twat 🫣

Yes he is like Grindah! Spot on. 😂😂

GarlicFound · 11/03/2026 23:45

Halfway through, and rudely placemarking to come back here. It's giving me more insight into why men buy into this. I am going to have a LOT to say!

I don't always like Theroux but his slightly bemused avuncular approach is perfect here.

PrimalScreaming · 12/03/2026 10:05

Well that was a depressing watch. Sometimes I thank my lucky stars I'm a lesbian without any kids!

I used to work in a Cat C Men's prison for a while. They reminded me of a lot of young men in there... completely obsessed with physique and money. They would spend all the time they could at the gym and flexing their muscles at each other and it was all about having the right gear. In prison that equates to the most expensive electric toothbrush money can buy (as they are allowed items) here it was cars!

Fizbosshoes · 12/03/2026 10:14

I think one of the things that shocked me most was the 2 fans or maybe "influencees" being completely enthralled, parroting all the mantras/soundbites word for word, presumably believing if they followed their formula or rules, they too would be earning millions and driving lamborghinis...when in reality it would be highly unlikely. Its like a cult.

Id say they were also pretty vulnerable (one had been homeless, his brother had committed suicide) with a lot of trauma and anger....ripe picking to influence them to go against "the system" or "the matrix" or whatever has supposedly caused their problems.

Fuelledbylatte · 12/03/2026 10:26

It was maddening to watch these young people truly believing their own rhetoric. That they have platforms to wang on about their uneducated and ignorant beliefs is a massive shame for those in the world who are vulnerable and get drawn in. (Thinking about that guy who was a fan, lost his brother to suicide, come out of homelessness recently. He needed a hug and a decent conversation with someone who could help him talk through his pain and circumstances. Not bullshit straplines designed to blind him with ideas of being buff and rich equals success)

Not the best I’ve seen of Louis but he held his own. I thought HS’s Mum was appalling and should be utterly ashamed her son is publicly talking the way he does. Laughable she said he wasn’t’brought up that way’ when he couldn’t clear up a mess on the floor!

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 12/03/2026 10:38

It’s a bloody pyramid scheme- those few at
the top fleecing thousands of teenagers for their pocket money, ‘teaching’ them they don’t need a job.
Yeah that’s a sound way to start real life…

blubberball · 12/03/2026 11:41

That lady who is the guy's wife about 30 minutes in, looks absolutely fucking terrified. Her voice is shaking, she seems to be wanting to say the right things, her husband pulls her close and she looks so tense and scared. Aw, and then he dismisses her, gives her the little dog and tells her to go clean up. Off she trots. I hope she escapes

Didn't it say at the end of the documentary that they had separated?

OrlandointheWilderness · 12/03/2026 11:58

LT is his usual brilliant self here. He doesn’t need to do anything, these idiots are giving it to him on a bloody plate. Being set up! 😂 they set themselves up.

Dolallytats · 12/03/2026 12:02

What have I just watched?? It's depressing and despairing. I just dont understand how, when these people have mums, sisters, daughters, they can be OK with the views they hold.

I worry for both my son (nearly 18) and my daughter (nearly 13) as they live in this world. I don't worry about my eldest DD (nearly 33) cos she was bought up before all this and would not put up with these attitudes.

Depressing and horrific.

Oh ok. I hadn't got to the end yet. But good for her 🥳

han6729 · 12/03/2026 12:06

I found this interesting, none of them believe a word of what they’re saying, they’re literally just trying to do whatever they could to make money
which means being increasingly controversial, it was deeply pathetic and cringeworthy to watch. They dont seem to see the parallels with prostitution or only fans and similar work which they were disparaging about.

ilikeeggs · 12/03/2026 12:11

It’s frightening how impressionable some of their fans are. I’m not even sure if these guys believe everything they are saying or if they’ve just realised they can make money from saying controversial stuff on social media for views and then trying to appeal to young men by flashing their wealth and showing themselves surrounded by beautiful women.

I dont think they were married but yes as @Belladog1 says they had separated by the end of the programme....i was happy she had escaped, hopefully she won't fall for another similar, professional misogynist.

Iwantmybed · 12/03/2026 12:14

Wow, it was Daddy issues galore. They all need therapy not a microphone. Weak pitiful boys lashing out because they don't have the emotional maturity to work on their own behaviour and personality.

Yes, and complete bullshitters to boot. Misogynistic Scammers is what it boils down to.

I’ve got it earmarked but I doubt if I can bring myself to watch it. I don’t want to lose any more of my fragile faith in this world right now.

Get over to the Lend with Care thread if you'd like your faith in human nature restored.

TheCheeseTax · 12/03/2026 13:03

I found myself watching the men being interviewed and thinking "I wonder what's wrong with him" and even asked my husband. In the end it was always "daddy issues and abandonment". Every. Fucking. Time.

ImWearingPantaloons · 12/03/2026 13:21

God who ARE these pathetic little twats?

Ohfuckrucksack · 12/03/2026 13:38

I think they were sad, insecure little boys whose fathers failed them and that they will be lonely old men.

I found it quite sad that so many young men found them inspirational.

TwoNicePuppies · 12/03/2026 13:46

What age is it suitable for? I have my teenage nephews staying at the weekend, sounds like it could be something to show them how not to be depending if it’s appropriate (age 14).
