They really seem to be winding down for the end of times but I think another series has been greenlit? So they must all be miraculously saved somehow. Possibly by Trixie’s private practice contact.

Needmorelego · 15/02/2026 21:29

A treat for the new thread.
The ACTUAL convent building in Poplar.
Still there today. Photos taken just last week.

The next series is a prequel set in WW2. There will be a film but the future with the current lot has not been confirmed.

There will also be a series 16 of call the midwife but not sure when. Guess they might do it between prequel series (assuming the prequel gets more than 1 series).

I think it’s CTM series 15 (airing now), Prequel series (starts Christmas Day), movie set in 1972 followed by series 16.

BestIsWest · 15/02/2026 22:26

I like seeing the clothes etc in this series. It’s just within my memory and reminds me of what my aunts and DM wore. My brother had the same pyjamas as the little boy at the wrestling and I had that Brownie uniform. It hadn’t long changed IIRC.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 15/02/2026 22:28

I’ve not watched this since series 1 or 2, is it consistently good all the way through?

RitaIncognita · 15/02/2026 22:34

Thanks for the new thread.

It’s gotten slowly worse - silly storylines and Dr Turner is now the main character. I think it was around series 7 or 8 where I started to enjoy it less, but series 10 is when it took a turn for the worse imho.

Saying that I still watch all the episodes so I suppose it can’t be that bad although I also watch and complain about every series of silent witness too

No, it gradually becomes nauseating.

ProudWomanXX · 15/02/2026 23:13

I called all three conditions correctly, tonight, long before they were announced!

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 15/02/2026 23:47

@PinkFrogss @TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Nooooo! Really? I so want to watch this all the way through but the sheer volume of episodes puts me off.

But this illustrates why I never seem to watch things when they are on, in real time rather than when the whole thing is finished, I have The Fear that a lot of things that start really well go downhill.

SonsRfab · 15/02/2026 23:47

I'm thinking of starting it again from the beginning. Is is available?

It looks like everything is there on the iPlayer, yes.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 16/02/2026 08:34

I think if you like CTM you like CTM 🤷‍♀️ I’ve always enjoyed it and even though some of the episodes have made me roll my eyes I still enjoy it.

It’s perfect Sunday night viewing.

A lot of you moan about it but still watch it every week 🙈😂

I had that Brownie uniform dress, but we had bobble hats rather than berets. I’m sure my granny had the blouse that Harmony wore when she left Poplar to drive north. White with a blue and red linear pattern.

I said “that’s not a sebaceous cyst”.
DH called Lupus.
I said “the Italian dad is going to have to deliver his baby, which is going to give him the confidence and need to face up to his cancer”.
Didn’t get sister MJ.

The earlier series are better.

Exactly. I felt the same with downton abbey. I really loved the first 3 series but it just got daft at the end.

This thread is destroying my list of tv to watch 😂💔

I didn't enjoy series 10 and 11 as the social distancing looked ridiculous and i struggled when they wore face coverings. It was just a further reminder of covid.

BrieAndChilli · 16/02/2026 13:22

I much preferred the earlier series - much more gritty and some unhappy endings which is more realistic. I was also in the throes of babies and toddlers so probably related to it more at the time!

However it is a nice sunday evening watch. nothing too stressful or complicated to get your head round on a sunday evening before the week starts again.
