Doesn't the person at the front steer and the one at the back brake?

Mmm don’t know

just read the front bob has ropes that steer which speed corners

FuzzyPuffling · 17/02/2026 20:53

I thought it was a repurposed dodgem car.

Why is the BBC rationing us to one hour of figure skating a night? Yet god forbid we miss a single second of curling. And they're showing the same bloody feed on both linear TV and player half the time, it's maddening.

So glad I subscribed to TNT for this Olympics, I’ll be doing the same in future.

Oh that bloody annoys me when they do that - and it contradicts the tv guide

yea showing not in real time means we know already we aren’t getting a medal

I think the beeb thought we'd do better at curling. I also suspect it was cheaper, as there us so much of it. Supply and demand.

Can anyone explain what the skiing and shooting is all about? They are totally different disciplines how do they fit together? Is it a bit of a ‘hunter gatherer’ type of idea, why not skiing and shotput? Am I totally missing something here? Confused

Thanks for the explanations, it makes a bit more sense now. ‘All because the lady loves Milk Tray!’ You have to be old enough to know 😉

Yeah I'll have to do that next time, but I do prefer the BBC commentary and presenter teams (except for that physicist pillock with his annoying VTs). I just keep thinking of poor Robin Cousins chattering away into the ether for nothing.

I don't understand why they don't have more iplayer channels running, like they did in the Summer games.

You do - I’m old enough sadly

gosh that was such a luxury

I read something about the amount of funding per sport- and curling has by far the most. About £600k per athlete. It was about that in total for ice skating- because our medal hopes are really pretty low, across the board.

I don't mind them showing the curling.

But at the same time, I know I sound like a hypocrite, as a die hard tennis fan who hates when Sky prioritises Brits over other players. And I am not interested in watching the Brits. Never have been.

But I'm not solely interested in the sports that GB has a chance in, I just want to watch people doing mental things on ice and snow, I don't care where they're from. They show all the football matches during the world cup and Euros, regardless of whether British teams are playing.

They’ve been showing the skiing and bialon today

the MJ skater has the whole MJ look

really isn't now. It's such a shame.

Yeah I've been watching all day every day, the coverage is fine during the day, they just seem to be showing hardly any figure skating at all. Seems odd to me because you'd think viewers would like to watch it. We've only ever had the final group each night, so 4 or 5 max. The nadir was the men's singles when they didn't even show the gold winning performance (on either channel), because they were too busy showing asinine VTs of toddlers being pushed across utility rooms on trays.

JellyBeanSpring25 · 17/02/2026 21:12

Our British skater is remarkable considering her spinal
surgery and no power in her lower left leg!

Because TNT are buying the rights to everything. They are allowed 2 at any one time. I think that includes BBC2. It’s an IOC thing I guess but the BBC are struggling with what to show.

An hr of figure skating is probably about right given the number of other sports they will have to fit in to keep everyone happy.
