Irn Bru

I live in Manchester- you can tell when my local Asda has run out of stock on an aisle, because the whole thing is filled with bottles of Irn Bru (or sometimes certain flavours of Pringles, but mainly Irn Bru).

So- does anyone drink it? . (or buy ketchup flavoured Pringles?).

I'm neither Scottish or English, but I love Irn Bru, kilts, shortbread and the National Museum of Scotland is one of my favourite places.
I like curling, but agree it has rather taken over BBC coverage, and that ice hockey matches are much better spectated live.
(As an aside, DCs and I were at a shopping centre yesterday and saw a couple of cleaning ladies playing their own version of curling, just having a bit of fun, and everyone who walked by smiled and was cheered by the sight 🙂)

Who are the love island influencer types who are currently learning about curling. Not seen either of them before last week. And I want to know if I will be seeing the more often or not. In similar roles on the bbc.

I saw Chris Hughes doing a brilliant video of him learning to do the skeleton- worth looking up it's very funny. His face when he realised he was actually going to be doing it, was a picture. But he looked very pleased with himself afterwards.

It is so rare to see a person of colour in the Winter Olympics. I was reading about Elana Meyers Taylor and came across this . Shocking :

On June 26, 2020, Meyers Taylor called attention to the racism she has faced throughout her athletic career—specifically in her bobsledding career—in an article by Team USA. She detailed an incident in which an Olympic coach of another country's team made multiple racist statements, both general and specific to Meyers Taylor. Meyers Taylor's article also explained that one of the fastest sled manufacturers in the world refuses to sell to black bobsledders. Her article resulted in the creation of a task force by the International Bobsled and Skeleton Federation to investigate these incidents.

I hope Tammy does not have to endure this, too.

Bill n Ted are teaching Chris the Reporter how to snowboard.

I’ve watched him do the skeleton and the two man bob, but I think he’ll find having both feet nailed to a single board a bit different.

It's pretty shocking- I think figure skating is a big example of this. It wasn't just her unorthodox style that kept Surya Bonally from winning medals- and I think many were aware of it. She didn't fit the aesthetic.

Chris Hughes learnt snowboarding with Ed & Tim and then Chemmy. He loved it!

It was really exciting and the positions change so quickly with a good/bad shoot! France had a horrific 1st lap and were down in 15th - yet fought their way back for gold 🥇

I can't imagine how hard it is to ski 2½ km, arrive panting at the range, and then be expected to hit tiny targets from 50m away - the prone/small targets are 4½ cm/1.8 inches and the "big" standing targets are 11½cm/ 4½ inches (not sure I could even see the small targets!)

I was hoping that Norway would win after the terrible time they have had - but after the poor shoot they had to settle for silver 🥈
