DH has just wandered in to ask if Bez has joined Bill and Ted in the commentator portaloo.

I felt really sorry for him. He was very close to him and his grandad had been the person who taught him to ski and died on the day the Olympics started - so only just over a week ago. He had said in interviews that he was skiing as a tribute to his grandad and was in first place after the first run - so to fail by clipping the gate must have devastated him. It was heart-breaking to see him lying in the trees, in the snow crying.

I expect that all of the emotions of the death that he has had to repress before the competition just came bubbling up.
