Oooh is the snow bad again. I've really enjoyed that today 🤣 I know it makes it tougher for the skiers!

One of the Skiers lobbed his poles and went stomping off in the snow.

Sammy900 · 16/02/2026 18:47

quite a few non finishers after the snow took over during the mens slalom earlier..at the end of the race the weather was beaut, it changes so quickly

Applecharlotte2 · 16/02/2026 18:47

Skiing delayed to at least 8pm

CrushingOnRubies · 16/02/2026 18:49

Another one who finds curling boring too. But everyone I know irl is totally invested and into it. And I’m just not

Sammy900 · 16/02/2026 18:50

bet it messes with your mentality a bit sitting there for another 2 hours - or maybe they're used to it

SabrinaThwaite · 16/02/2026 18:51

Applecharlotte2 · 16/02/2026 18:31

Yes I guess so and thanka for pointing it out but she didn’t do what was expected on her run - someone said Freya was faster than her

it just feels like it’s all becuase of him

Edited

If they chose the teams based on the individual results, then overall Stoecker was faster than Tarbit. Stoecker is also the faster starter, and the start was going to be a key element.

In the actual event then yes, Tarbit was faster than Stoecker, but you are talking fine margins and just a single slight error makes all the difference.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Yes I agree

just felt she only got the medal because of him rather than joint

In the same vein, you could say all the female athletes only got a medal because their male partners slid faster than them.

No not at all

its because she didn’t do what she needed to and he was left with the task of making up her time above his own

not the case at all in the skiing - the women nailed it for the pair

I think it’s because the commentary was all negative after Tabitha run and made it sound impossible - then he did the impossible and she got a medal by default

in the skiing once nightingale had gone they were positive which made it seem more of a they both did what they needed to

anyway i was just asking to see if it was just me

RafaistheKingofClay · 16/02/2026 19:11

Lost you all. My weekend of not watching Olympics has obviously worked well for us winning gold medals.

Now back to jinx the women’s curling.

Sammy900 · 16/02/2026 19:13

I can't believe there's so much constant curling on, surely they're done with that now

I don’t think you can really compare the snowboard cross, where you’re mixing it with other competitors, with an event where you’re on your own.

It’s on every single day of the Olympics, I can’t work out how or why.

Sammy900 · 16/02/2026 19:16

Every time I turn it on 😂

MouldyCandy · 16/02/2026 19:16

@Applecharlotte2
I thought something similar because last night the time clock appeared to show that Matt had to make up at least a 0.3 second deficit and that was seen as pretty impossible, whereas after Tabbys run, Matt just had to be 0.18 seconds faster for the gold. Definitely a team effort.
BBC Sport News

Freya was 60 secs flat. Tabby was 1:00.77.

Sammy900 · 16/02/2026 19:23

I reckon they're just in the middle of a snow storm so its an indoors P.E day

HollyGolightly4 · 16/02/2026 19:25

wanderingstarz · 16/02/2026 18:44

One of the Skiers lobbed his poles and went stomping off in the snow.

I saw that! I was torn between feeling sorry for him, as his Grandad has just died and then feeling he needs to be a bit more graceful in loss.

They had the mixed matches now men’s and women’s play 9 matches each so 18 matches for each country in this category

Raahh · 16/02/2026 19:34

I don't know as many of the pairs skaters as I do the ice dancers, but the Candian pair (the one with the woman who had the head injury and didn't know if she would be skating- worse the gold dress last night), have just done very well. Don;t think they will be in the top tier- these are the first set of skaters.
The British pair are just skating. I don't think pairs has ever been an event we've done too well in- but they've done a great job to get to the free programme.

I am flipping between that and the curling. I love the curling. Grin. There are 3 competitions, with round robins, so to fit it all in it had to start before the games began- and Idon't think it ends until the last day (or maybe the day before).

cashmerecardigans · 16/02/2026 19:39

Where has the skating gone? It seems to be curling everywhere, iplayer and bbc2

Scottish dancing all round then!

saltandvinegarchipsticks · 16/02/2026 19:42

I’m so glad I paid for a TNT/discovery+ subscription this month so I’ve been able to watch the events I enjoy uninterrupted

FuzzyPuffling · 16/02/2026 19:43

Well you know what us pensioners say..."Heating, eating or decent sports telly"!

SabrinaThwaite · 16/02/2026 19:43

That’s not correct.

Freya was 1:00.47, Tabby was 1:00.77.
