Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Link below to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer - these are usually dropped at 6am on broadcast days - and you can read brief synopses of upcoming episodes:

It does make sense to bring grant back to see Nigel as he’s so ill, I can’t remember was Nigel here when he came back last time?

I get Kim was annoyed with howey but he was the local postie surely we’d still see him? Unless he’s in the kiddie cupboard.

Claire not coming back… why do I seem to think she cut Nigel off long ago?

storminabuttercup · 16/02/2026 05:32

Ok looked up on eastenders wiki
apparently when Claire came back in 2008 (new head) she was upset Nigel wasn’t supportive then when Nigel came back 2004, was it really that long ago? He said they’d lost touch

Yes Nigel was there when Grant last reappeared. He found out about the Dementia and wanted to take Nigel back to Portugal and look after him.

I hadn’t realised how limited Ross Kemp is as an actor until that last stint. His acting range is restricted to angry, shouty, aggressive and not much else. It’s quite stark when he’s in scenes with Steve M.

Shellingbynight · 16/02/2026 08:23

I agree about Ross Kemp. It's probably partly because he never acts nowadays, it's all game shows and documentaries, so he's out of the loop. He's not an actor any more (if he ever was!)

@storminabuttercup Howie was exposed as stealing from his job(s) as postie and courier so I don't think he'd still be working his round!

Southeastdweller · 16/02/2026 08:28

I was intrigued why he’s coming back for a long stint. I was reading an interview about money he did recently in the Sunday Times (it’s for a weekly interview called Fame and Fortune) and got the impression he’s very well-off. But perhaps he enjoys working.

That’s a very good point re. doing documentaries. Has he acted in anything apart from EE??

I always thought though, if you can act in the first place then you can act - regardless of how long you are out of the game. Looking at actors like Nigel and Julie who have just slotted back in and seem so natural. I was catching up the episodes last week and was shocked at how poor Jake Moon was. It was as if he was literally reading his lines of a script in front of him. I haven’t seen him in anything else over the last 20 years either.

Shellingbynight · 16/02/2026 08:42

I wonder if Ross has actually been asked to return in the past ten years, aside from the fleeting appearance last year. This producer seems to be bringing back every single character from 20 years ago who isn't certifiably dead.

@Eastie77Returns I wiki'd him and Ross did do some bits of drama after EastEnders but for the past 20 years (yes, that long!) it's just been those 'extreme' documentaries and Bridge of Lies. I'm not sure either he or Jake were ever very good to start with!

Eastie77Returns · 16/02/2026 08:48

For me, the most random return was Barry Evans in Nigel’s flashback episode. He had absolutely no connection to Nigel whatsoever. It was lovely to see Pat but again, no relevance. They could have just restricted it to Debbie without the need for the others. Instead she really only had a bit part.

the80sweregreat · 16/02/2026 10:44

Ross Kemp did an ITV Christmas drama years ago where he played a modern day bailiff ‘ Scrooge ‘ that learnt to be nice! It was quite good , even if it was just Ross playing a nasty Grant Mitchell.

I didn’t know that howie had left 😭

Just started watching today’s episode and Howie’s shown up for Anthony’s funeral.

cramptramp · 16/02/2026 12:19

I don’t know if this has been said previously on this thread, but surely to make things more believable you’d sometimes see other cast members going about their daily lives in the background of other scenes. Instead, people just completely disappear for weeks.

Hard agree

cramptramp · 16/02/2026 12:21

Didn’t take much to get Jasmine to confess to being a murderer did it 🙄

the80sweregreat · 16/02/2026 12:38

Oh, I imagined we’d never see Howie again tbh.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 16/02/2026 12:43

I feel really sorry for Jamie Borthwick, I think EE havd come down overly harsh on him.

I agree, his punishment was disproportionate. I wonder if he’ll ever get any acting work again. I hate this ‘cancel’ culture that’s emerged over the last seven or so years.

I think Jamie might have got away with one 'mistake' but he made two fairly serious ones in quick succession which looks like a pattern of poor judgment, so I can see why he was sacked. He is not a kid, he's old enough to know how to behave.

Southeastdweller · 16/02/2026 13:19

It was one incident Shelling. He shouldn’t have said what he did but the BBC went over the top and as usual had to be seen to be doing the right thing:

Jamie Borthwick

Jamie Borthwick axed from EastEnders after 19 years - BBC News

The 31-year-old played Jay Brown and was one of the show's longest-serving cast members.

That was the second incident.
The first was sending a video to the group whatsapp about a sex toy. It widely reported in the media - The Independent, Sun, Standard.

Shellingbynight · 16/02/2026 21:09

I thought there was some good writing for individual scenes today - Chrissie and Sam, Max and Lauren, Linda and Johnny.

But everything involving Jasmine was absolute drivel.

the80sweregreat · 16/02/2026 21:20

Amazing that Jasmine got her old job back.
As you wouldn’t after being away for so long!
Chrissie was good today. Shame she isn’t sticking around as I do like her.

Southeastdweller · 16/02/2026 21:22

I liked the scene with Cindy and Patrick. I thought that was an interesting (and for me personally) helpful view on grief.

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 16/02/2026 21:28

Yes, Cindy looked lovely today and they now share a bond.
I did like Kim’s outfit ( just so Kim ) and at least they let Howie be and didn’t start on him.
Jasmine .. just oh dear ! ..

Shellingbynight · 16/02/2026 21:56

Oh yes agreed - the Cindy and Patrick scene was nice too.

Bluesandwhites · 16/02/2026 22:19

Hello all, i think i may have missed some episodes, can anyone tell me what happened to Honey's job as the market inspector?

Oh, my, Chrissie looks like she has stepped from the pages of Vogue. Perfectly styled hair and make up.
