I imagine some Lugers got bored and decided ‘you know what will liven this up. Going head first.’

Seems we are quite good at hurtling head first round an icy track then.

I reckon it was some wag who had had a bit of a drink and took a dare from a pal.

Me too , very good . I also enjoyed the cross country skiing this morning . Watching the figure skating now and hoping it’s going to be more interesting than the ice dance was .

Is it the best of 4, or some kind of aggregate/ average?

Some of the others must have heavier heads to propel them faster.

There is a mixed pairs event and Matt and Tabitha are in that (and have placed second in the worlds, twice) so maybe we will have a chance in that too.

It's the beauty of the Olympics, is it? I was watching the curling earlier- with all my expert knowledge - tutting at how badly it was going. Because I have been watching for a week and a half now...

Sadly mixed pairs is not like pairs luge.

2.5 weeks every 4years since Rhonda Martin’s team in 2002 has made me an expert. When Steve Cram retires I can be the one saying ‘that’s not what he wanted’.

Am now becoming an expert on half pipe.

I've been watching the men's free dance skating(on Discovery) whilst watching the skeleton on the BBC. The BBC will probably show the last 4/5 skaters.

Watching the short piece the Beeb did about John Curry, shows the contrast between then and now. He was all about the artistry, and balletic movement (when the judges wanted gymnastics). Now, we are waiting for a man to do 7 quad jumps and a back flip. Doesn't leave much room for artistry.

Exactly- I'm not sure I really knew much about curling before 2002. I knew what it was, but never watched it.
Now, well, today I did find myself saying 'that not what 'she' would have wanted ' at one stage during the women's match

I think it would be a bit iffy. And the potential for someone topplng off mid race would be horrendous.

Could try a luge/skeleton mixed type thing. A 69-er.
