Opening ceremony tonight, from 6.30pm on BBC2. Surprised it’s not on BBC1.

I think there's more widespread understanding of sophisticated techniques but what made them great was that you could tell watching them they'd got to where they did by just being on the ice , dreaming up possibilities and working stuff out. Easier to build on that after especially with greater input about physiology available, maybe not quite so creative.
