Well, we soared through the last thread again, so here's a shiny new one!

Corrie is pretty much based around the tragic death of Billy at the moment. Bernie is starting to lose the plot a bit, and ended up in a hotel room with a strange man who is the husband of someone Roy has been chatting to. (It's all a bit confusing!!!) Then she ended up unconcious in the ladies toilets!

Todd and Theo are still together - annoyingly - and Carl (Debbie's brother) has just heard Theo blabbing to Billy in his coffin how he's not a murderer, and he should have saved him, and so on. A guilty conscience, or self pity? (I'm guessing the latter.) Carl was listening (conveniently!) and smirked when he heard Theo 'confessing,' but I'm not sure what he's going to do with the information. Especially as shortly after, Theo saw Carl doing some dodgy dealing with some blokes, and he photographed him. So, they now have 'something' on each other!

Not much happening with the Driscolls at the moment, and Ma Driscoll and Eva have called a truce. But for how long???

Shona and David's new little baby (Harper) is still a bit fragile.

Shiny faced Megan Trainer the Siren who has men (and boys) eating out of her hand, is showing an unpleasant, dark side, after practically threatening Sam (Nick's son) if he blabs anything about her and Will.

And Carla and Lisa have inexplicably made up, as if nothing has happened. On the plus side however, at least we have got rid of the dreadful Undead Becky storyline.

Probably some more bits and bobs to discuss, but I'm sure we'll get to them soon.

Re @AnnieLummox 's post about a cull (at 12.09 yesterday/5th Feb,) I agree with most of those. Sean needs to go IMO. Should have gone a decade ago. And yes to Izzy, pointless character. And Gemma is annoying, so she and Ches and the quads should be written out. Along with Street buffoon Kirk. Brian I am not crazy about, and Mary has gone past her sell-by date. Ed is rubbish too, and a bad actor. Really annoying voice.

The others you mentioned can stay (IMO,) for now. (Bethany, James, Alya, Maria, and Gary.)

Yes I thought this. Carl is rotten to the core, no way would he have confessed. Corrie just wrote this in for a second, so he could change his mind again when Debbie said 'I'm yer mum!' Really pointless bit of a plotline there. 'Oh I was JUST gonna confess too, but I'm not now, coz you're a bitch..'

Bit too convenient

She did for a bit but then it was back to the same line that she churned out when she had an affair with Imran, it was all because of Seb dying. She used it on Roy when he discovered she bought the gun that killed Natasha and now she is using it again.

It could have been a good moment if she just agreed with Kev, he had been the safe choice and it had been a marriage of convenience instead of the line about being besotted with him even though she keeps copping off with younger men.

Not sure how long the Baileys have been on the street but I remember the first time I heard Ed speak. I thought is this guy a real actor and being paid for this?

I'm still of the same opinion.

Ed's awful isn't he @Myrealnameisbetty :? 😬 When he does his booming voice, I have to mute the TV!

I definitely think they can all be saved. The writers/producers just need a decent strategy for them. Is Alya a restaurateur or a (fake) lawyer? Is Bethany‘s stoma story ever going to be covered again, or is it going to be forgotten, like Jack being an amputee, and Carla getting a new kidney every few years?

God yes Ed's voice and his eyes bulging when he speaks, drives me mad. Not a very convincing brother to Ronnie either.

Very good points! 👏 I find it bizarre that Jack's (amputated) foot is never mentioned. Or Carla's kidney - OR Tracy's! Tracy had a new kidney in the mid 1990s, so she should have had a new about 15 years ago... A transplanted kidney lasts about 15 years on average, 20 years top, so Tracy should be on her third one by now! 😬

Also, yes Bethany's stoma is never mentioned. Also confused about what Alya is meant to be. She drifts from hospitality to law. Then back again! 😆

Kev has definitely aged badly. If we did not see him all the time he would feature in tabloid "You will never guess what Kevin Webster looks like now" headlines.

Whereas Sal looks like she has drank the elixir of eternal youth

Speaking of Bethany, she was sacked when she was returned, usually it only takes her about two minutes to get another amazing job in journalism

Aww, I’m sad to see everyone being so horrible about Ed. I really like his voice, and he comes across to me as the down-to-earth tradesman and family man that he’s intended to be. I was glad to see the back of Deedee, who I found intensely irritating but (when I remember he exists) can’t see the point of Michael, and the invisible Glory, at all.

Yes I love Ed too and his voice. Could listen to him speak all day. I think the Bailey men are all lovely. I really liked Dee Dee too but not the storylines she was given towards the end.

I really want Theo and Carl to end up killing each other. I thought Theo was an awful actor when he first started but not so sure now. His creepiness and controlling behaviour is so believable I don’t think I’ve hated a character more… so he must be doing something right!

@zanahoria I agree Abi is in general a pain with her self-justification. But that scene felt authentic to me, she will never get over Seb’s death. They do harp on a bit about Seb, but at least it isn’t like most soap storylines where people forget deaths and disasters within three months (as mentioned above - Tracey and Carla's kidneys rarely get a mention and Tracey's would have run out of juice years ago).

I think 20 years ago the Bailey’s would have been a one year wonder like the Morton family on Classic. Nowadays they seem unwilling to admit characters don’t work. Ronnie is great, the others can do one.

Ed sounds like he's declaiming Shakespeare, not talking about cement. Not that he ever does talk about cement, because unlike 20 years ago the builder on the Street never does any building work.

@SabreIsMyFave surely you have not forgotten those heart rending scenes where Carla was hospitalised needing a kidney last year, Swain at her bedside, Rob offering his kidney and breaking out of jail and shooting someone - unforgettable kidney memories surely 😂

Ronnie isn’t actually that great an actor, it’s just the rest of the Bailey family are awful.
