Well, we soared through the last thread again, so here's a shiny new one!

Corrie is pretty much based around the tragic death of Billy at the moment. Bernie is starting to lose the plot a bit, and ended up in a hotel room with a strange man who is the husband of someone Roy has been chatting to. (It's all a bit confusing!!!) Then she ended up unconcious in the ladies toilets!

Todd and Theo are still together - annoyingly - and Carl (Debbie's brother) has just heard Theo blabbing to Billy in his coffin how he's not a murderer, and he should have saved him, and so on. A guilty conscience, or self pity? (I'm guessing the latter.) Carl was listening (conveniently!) and smirked when he heard Theo 'confessing,' but I'm not sure what he's going to do with the information. Especially as shortly after, Theo saw Carl doing some dodgy dealing with some blokes, and he photographed him. So, they now have 'something' on each other!

Not much happening with the Driscolls at the moment, and Ma Driscoll and Eva have called a truce. But for how long???

Shona and David's new little baby (Harper) is still a bit fragile.

Shiny faced Megan Trainer the Siren who has men (and boys) eating out of her hand, is showing an unpleasant, dark side, after practically threatening Sam (Nick's son) if he blabs anything about her and Will.

And Carla and Lisa have inexplicably made up, as if nothing has happened. On the plus side however, at least we have got rid of the dreadful Undead Becky storyline.

Probably some more bits and bobs to discuss, but I'm sure we'll get to them soon. Smile

I really liked Nina when she first arrived - a young woman interested in clothes, art and music seemed quite promising but they have not really developed her. Like all the other young women, she has been defined by tragedy and is otherwise left flitting around the cafe desperately trying to look ethereal and interesting but really just ear wigging into other people's business

Shellingbynight · 05/02/2026 14:22

I only just watched yesterday’s episode.

Brian was really annoying. But I liked the scenes with Kev and Abi. Jack is a pretty poor actor, sorry Jack but you need a head change.

Debbie “I know it sounds ridiculous now -“ yes it really does. The writers are really struggling with explaining their way of this one. Why does Carl give a stuff he didn’t say goodbye to Elaine when she mistreated him and he didn’t even like her. It all feels very contrived.

Carl is a good actor though. I agree Ronnie was struggling acting-wise, I don't know why. Unbelievable nature of the script I suppose😆

the80sweregreat · 05/02/2026 14:37

It seems to me that Carl is a just a bully and a coward. He won’t own up to what he did and

the80sweregreat · 05/02/2026 14:38

Posted too soon ..
I meant to say that he won’t own up because his scared of jail.

bizzey · 05/02/2026 14:42

I wonder if he really would have gone through with it and gone to the police, if Debbie hadn't had told him ??

the80sweregreat · 05/02/2026 14:46

I suppose we will never know if he meant to confess. He seemed very quick to turn the tables on Debbie , makes me think he may have got to the police station and then done nothing at all.

zanahoria · 05/02/2026 15:21

The Kev and Abi chat felt like one of those wipe the slate clean and forget this ever happened moments that they do on Corrie after an absurd plot.

Shellingbynight · 05/02/2026 16:26

It was very out of character for Carl to suddenly decide to confess. Again that seemed contrived, just to enable Debbie's confession. Carl has been stealing from Debbie for months including as recently as last week, he doesn't have a conscience, why would he suddenly decide to come clean - especially as it would mean him going to jail.

Shellingbynight · 05/02/2026 16:49

At least they aren't getting Kev and Abi back together @zanahoria and I think we're all relieved to see the back of self-pitying Kev.

1reason · 05/02/2026 19:01

@Shellingbynight
No?
Looked like the first step in resurrecting their relationship to me.
First of all, back working in garage together. Then Abi will move back in.

Mollypolly2610 · 05/02/2026 19:25

That's what I thought too. Back together like nothing happened.

Agree Jack is by far one of the most wooden actors I have ever seen and what’s happened with his amputated leg ?? Like a kid would never mention it ! Bloody ridiculous

Shellingbynight · 05/02/2026 19:57

During their conversation on the roof Abi made it clear she no longer 'loved him like that'. It sounded to me like they were just ceasing hostilities and prepared to work together and co-parent.

This is Corrie so I wouldn't rule it out in future but it didn't sound like it was going to happen any time soon.

eggandonion · 05/02/2026 20:09

If Abi has a catastrophic washing machine leak or similar she could move in for a few days like Lisa did with Carla.

1reason · 05/02/2026 20:46

@Shellingbynight Ah, OK, I missed that subtle phrase.
Being Corrie, anything could happen!

Shellingbynight · 05/02/2026 21:28

@1reason It did look as if the rooftop chat was leading to go towards them getting back together, but it then veered away with Abi's comment. But I do wonder what they are going to do with the pair of them, because there is no obvious other partner for either.

eggandonion · 05/02/2026 22:03

Maybe they could be single? Or Brian and Mary are sort of available.

But we have self pitying Abi back, she was telling Kev that it was the grief that made her cheat on him. She works herself up into a fury about Carl but never takes responsibility for anything she does

Shellingbynight · 06/02/2026 09:31

I thought Abi did take responsibility on Wednesday. When she mentioned that Carl turned out to be a lying cheat, Kev said "are you after sympathy?" and she said no I've made my own bed and I've got to lie in it.

I thought it was a really nicely written scene (for a change). A bit of soul-searching, a bit of humour, both resolving to make the best of it.

MaePedwarGolau · 06/02/2026 09:57

I don't understand why everyone, including the police, are blaming Debbie for Billy's death. Yes, they believe she was drink driving, but her and Carl were just caught up in an accident that had already happened. John, who actually caused the crash, is dead. No one is blaming Carla for stepping out in front of the minibus and causing it to swerve. Perhaps Billy would have survived if she hadn't done that 🤷‍♀️ Am I missing something?

Shellingbynight · 06/02/2026 10:03

None of it makes sense. Forensics apparently didn't even check Debbie's car and realise the seat was in the wrong position for her to have been driving. That plus 'You're my son!' is just to load the tragedy onto Debbie, as if suffering from dementia isn't tragic enough!

the80sweregreat · 06/02/2026 10:05

I like Debbie ( I know I’m a returner to this soap and wasn’t aware of the character at all before November ) but the writers seem to be giving her some tragic storylines :(

SabreIsMyFave · 06/02/2026 10:05

I do agree about all of this, Debbie being accused of killing Billy when many more people were involved. And yes, surely there would have been more forensics done to check it actually was Debbie in the driver's seat. Quite a few people seem to think/know it was Carl, yet the police couldn't see it. Confused

I know right. Abi is probably hoping Kev will have her back. I hope he doesn't!

Now DeeDee is gone (and seemingly instantly forgotten), Ronnie is the only Bailey worth bothering with. James could have potential, but was fairly obviously brought back for the adoption storyline, with no real thought as to where he’d go after that. Michael gets so little screen time that I sometimes forget that he exists, while Ed hasn’t had a decent plot since the gambling relapse (not helped by his marriage breakdown having to happen off-screen).

Ronnie is the only Bailey I like. Him and Debbie together are really good. They seem to have good chemistry.
