Well, we soared through the last thread again, so here's a shiny new one!

Corrie is pretty much based around the tragic death of Billy at the moment. Bernie is starting to lose the plot a bit, and ended up in a hotel room with a strange man who is the husband of someone Roy has been chatting to. (It's all a bit confusing!!!) Then she ended up unconcious in the ladies toilets!

Todd and Theo are still together - annoyingly - and Carl (Debbie's brother) has just heard Theo blabbing to Billy in his coffin how he's not a murderer, and he should have saved him, and so on. A guilty conscience, or self pity? (I'm guessing the latter.) Carl was listening (conveniently!) and smirked when he heard Theo 'confessing,' but I'm not sure what he's going to do with the information. Especially as shortly after, Theo saw Carl doing some dodgy dealing with some blokes, and he photographed him. So, they now have 'something' on each other!

Not much happening with the Driscolls at the moment, and Ma Driscoll and Eva have called a truce. But for how long???

Shona and David's new little baby (Harper) is still a bit fragile.

Shiny faced Megan Trainer the Siren who has men (and boys) eating out of her hand, is showing an unpleasant, dark side, after practically threatening Sam (Nick's son) if he blabs anything about her and Will.

And Carla and Lisa have inexplicably made up, as if nothing has happened. On the plus side however, at least we have got rid of the dreadful Undead Becky storyline.

Probably some more bits and bobs to discuss, but I'm sure we'll get to them soon. Smile

Carl ain't happy! Oh dear me. Poor Debbie, she was only a teenager when she had him. He is being horrible to her. Poor sweet Debbie. 😢

I thought he was going to be Ray's kid...Deirdres first husband...and be Tracy Luvs half brother. That would have been excellent. But Ray was too long ago.

Nevermind17 · 04/02/2026 21:04

Kinell Carl, nobody ever reacts like that with Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell!

rainbowruthie · 04/02/2026 21:06

That was so sad, poor Debbie

teambrief · 04/02/2026 21:12

The acting was dreadful. I can’t wait for Carl to be found out. He’s awful.

She looked broken didn't she?

Deb should fuck both Carl and Kevin off

Gingercar · 04/02/2026 21:55

To be fair, although Carl is a nasty bastard (and the actor plays it v well), I think he is justified in being a bit hacked off that his sister has lied. Fair enough in the past, but she should’ve told him when he was upset about his mum dying. Or when he first came back.

He will be calling her mummy by the end of the week

the80sweregreat · 04/02/2026 23:46

Carl is a good baddie though. Very believable

strugglingwithlife · 05/02/2026 08:04

I would go to the police and tell the truth if I were Debbie. Nasty piece of work, fuck Carl

the80sweregreat · 05/02/2026 08:43

Debbie should tell Kevin ! He’d go and tell the police about Carl in a heartbeat!

bizzey · 05/02/2026 09:45

Ronnie's acting in the cafe when he was talking/crying to Carl was really painful !!

And I love Ronnie !

AnnieLummox · 05/02/2026 10:17

Now DeeDee is gone (and seemingly instantly forgotten), Ronnie is the only Bailey worth bothering with. James could have potential, but was fairly obviously brought back for the adoption storyline, with no real thought as to where he’d go after that. Michael gets so little screen time that I sometimes forget that he exists, while Ed hasn’t had a decent plot since the gambling relapse (not helped by his marriage breakdown having to happen off-screen).

LesserSpottedCharacter · 05/02/2026 11:03

Did I hear someone say it was Debbie's sentencing today (yesterday)? She hadn't even been tried, the crash was only a few weeks ago. The RL legal system is at breaking point, things can take years to come to court. But Corrie has previous for this - when Becky was eventually found out to be a baddy she went straight to jail.

It was nice to see another one of the Chuckle Brother's acting talents last night. I did feel for Debbie.

I have always found Ed wooden and gambling plots are just drab and depressing, no drama just pure misery.

Michael is quite a nice lad and could always work as a background character, perhaps just keep him and James and develop their relationship as brothers.

The personal trainer stuff is such bollocks but soaps seem to love them even though it is hardly the sort of place where one would thrive. James loiters around like a street walker trying to persuade people to give him money to go jogging with him.

They should give him a proper job in football, perhaps coaching kids, Lily remembered she is a future lioness the other day or he could be the Pep Guardiola of the Weatherfield County u16s one legged team with Jack as their Erling Haaland

I think she is pleading guilty so no trial.

It is quick but not as absurd as Becky's

IRL they want to ditch jury trials to speed up the backlog but so many criminals in Weatherfield they just have to send them straight to jail.

Another weird thing soaps do it all this taking the rap for another person, police and courts would see straight through that and both would be in trouble

LesserSpottedCharacter · 05/02/2026 11:34

Doh! Of course Blush, sorry. And thank you.

AnnieLummox · 05/02/2026 12:09

To me, Corrie could stand quite a big cull:

Sean - It baffles me he’s still there. He’s been a spare part for 10 years at least. Crucially, now Eileen has gone, he doesn’t even have that “like family to me” connection. He barely even showed any emotion at Billy’s death, yet they were a long-term couple. If they can’t utilise Sean then, when can they? I can only think Antony Cotton has serious dirt on someone very high up at ITV!

Izzy - Reduced to cameos, none of which add anything to the plot. Barely gets a scene with her own son now - never mind showing any interest in Joseph. The uncomfortable truth is that ITV do not want “disabled actor axed” headlines. But surely employing a disabled actor and giving them virtually nothing to do is way more damaging in terms of inclusivity?

Kirk - Seemingly kept on for comedy value, but there seems to be precious little comedy and even less value. Essentially drifting since Beth left (although in reality a spare part long before then); Craig is gone and little is made of his connection with Maria.

Chesney and Gemma - As many others have said, the quads story was a disaster. Someone put their finger on it the other day when they said Chesney was a good child actor who didn’t mature into a good adult actor. There’s an element of sentimentality behind keeping him on. Gemma, like Sean, has shown she’s not even valuable in other people’s stories (e.g, just sitting stuffing her face at her brother-in-law’s funeral). Worst of all, this family takes up one of the street’s original houses - it could be so much better utilised.

Brian - Another spare part. His seeming attraction to Mary has never gone anywhere; Julie’s death story was the last time he was of any use. Like Sean, you could drop him with zero impact on any other character. We never even see The Kabin anymore (which would have long since gone bust in reality).

Michael - The voice of reason/normality in his wider family’s storylines - but when did he last get anything to do in his own right? He suffers a bit from the fact that a lot of the stories you’d give to a single dad (would a new woman want to take on a child etc.) have already been given to Daniel.

Ed - Not a strong actor, and is going to suffer by comparison as Debbie’s dementia ramps up and Ronnie gets the good material. The writers don’t even seem interested in him.

Teetering, but salvageable:

Maria and Gary - The interesting thing about them as a couple was that they both essentially settled for second best. For the second time, a man only married Maria because she was pregnant, only for her to lose the baby. It was actually quite realistic when we used to see Maria worrying that she was a poor substitute for Sarah, but now Sarah has had a broken marriage without any sign she’d go after Gary, that story path seems pretty dead. Maybe if Maria met someone else and it was genuine love, and she had to choose between that and her established life?

Alya - A bit on the edge since Yasmeen went, but largely likeable and a seemingly good fit for Adam. Maybe something simple and relatable for them - e.g. one wants a baby and the other doesn’t?

James - Has played his part in two stories since returning, but there’s no obvious path at the moment. Could he turn out to be the nice potential new boyfriend for Todd in the Theo story?

Bethany - Done absolutely nothing of note since returning from London. Perhaps there has been an issue for the actress post-maternity leave? Either way, she needs a good plot - preferably one that does not involve another reunion with Daniel.

AmusedMaker · 05/02/2026 12:18

Agee with everything you said @AnnieLummox

zanahoria · 05/02/2026 12:52

I actually liked some of the scenes that Sean had with Dylan when they first got the flat but we do not see that any more. Dylan has morphed into the latest bad boy and we do not even get Sean's reaction.

Izzy is so irrelevant that her own mother forgets about her when she visits.

I would have Gemma and the quads move out. Kirk and Peanut should move in they should also a Great Dane, only Schmeichel II could save Ches

zanahoria · 05/02/2026 12:58

I just wish they would stop trying to ruin Debbie Webster as she is clearly the best character the sort that has the show in her blood, she can carry episodes on her own and make you laugh with simple off the cuff lines.

The dementia was bad enough and the I'm your mother reveal just ties her closer to the abysmal Carl. We now need a miracle to keep her out of jail.

AmusedMaker · 05/02/2026 13:07

I’d add Nina to the cull list too.

AnnieLummox · 05/02/2026 13:32

I actually meant to add both Nina and Glenda to my “struggling, but salvageable” list. They’re both good, but have been reduced to making comic asides in other people’s scenes.

I’m surprised Jodie Prenger stays. You’d think she was well known enough to get decent stage work, but instead she settled for popping up and saying “Ooh - as the actress said to the bishop!” at the vaguest sign of any innuendo.
