Actually I think I’ll be weirded out by a sex scene with anyone. For me it’s not been missed so far and on of the reasons I’ve loved the show has been how wholesome it’s been (brutal deaths, child abuse swearing aside obv 😁). I don’t think it would add anything.

It might be as mild as a kiss, I think the film/show industry use intimacy coordinators a lot now to protect all which isn't a bad idea.

Daytimetellyqueen · 17/12/2025 22:28

I’d prefer no sex scene either! Or if there must be one, then let it be akin to Nancy & Steve when poor Barbara was taken!

Invisablepanic · 18/12/2025 08:02

Oh god I hope there isn't a sex scene, I can't understand how that would fit in at all. I enjoy watching something with DS 14 where there isn't really any sex. I'm not opposed to sex scenes, I just don't think it fits ST.

We re-watched the first 4 S5 episodes last night and it didn't get better, Robin was more annoying than I remembered and the dialogue was poor. So much unnatural exposition. I still also feel it was definitely a cop out not to kill off Karen and Ted considering how easily the Demogorgon cut through armed soldiers.

Ahhh ok! Went all Mary Whitehouse there

Daytimetellyqueen · 18/12/2025 11:48

I've seen one on YouTube so I presume that's the one everyone else is talking about.

Also, did ye know it's actually the 26th that it is released this side of the Atlantic? 1am I think. I was looking forward to watching at least 1 episode on Christmas day evening. We are going elsewhere for dinner the next day so it'll probably be the Saturday before we watch any now.

Bloody hell, thanks both! Massive massive goosebumps! Can’t wait for Boxing Day - will rewatch the first 4 episodes again next week to get ready!

Loopytiles · 18/12/2025 17:26

Stranger Things were rightly criticised for the treatment of actors regarding kissing scenes with younger actors in past series, eg Sadie Sink and Caleb McC at the Snow Ball. Perhaps they are seeking to treat them better.

Daytimetellyqueen · 26/12/2025 11:53

JustAn0therUsername · 26/12/2025 11:55

Same as Xmas. 8pm NYEve on the US east coast so 1am for us.

polid · 26/12/2025 12:51

I’m three episodes into the latest season and finding it dull as can be. And i love ST. Tell me it improves?

Oh no, it wrecked me last night, was hoping for a more ‘civilised’ UK time Grin

I’ve loved all of season 5, so can’t really help with that, sorry!

Me too. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s the same fun slightly insane adventure I know and love.

JustAn0therUsername · 26/12/2025 13:20

Although I am wondering how they’ll tie everything up in one last episode, even if it is movie length!

Sadly not huge fans of today's episodes in this house-although have loved it.
Still deciding but my thoughts atm-

There are just too many bloody ppl-when they all went on a side quest-there were about 15 of them-we now have the science teacher, candy striper, poor max in a wheel chair and other assorted stragglers as well as Derek and Holly and that whole storyline.
So many of the side characters just dilute our relationships with the main characters and I feel less invested. Just so many people.

In the beginning it felt tighter and now it feels like there is no budget and no one says no to anything so The Duffer Bros just throwing all sorts of wild effects in for fun.

Too much explaining the science and making wild plans.

I can remember the emotional impact of Bob dying and then Eddie and I def don't want them to kill Steve but it now feels less dangerous somehow-too many people to care about.
Side note-Karen Wheeler an absolute queen!!

Did laugh when Hopper called Kali a little ray of sunshine.
Will she wreck the plan and cause El to sacrifice herself?
Will Derek the Delightful survive or is he the new Bob/Eddie jolly character they kill?
Will Dr Kay have a satisfyingly horrible death?
And her nasty henchmen.
How can there only be 2 hours left because it's messy atm.

Edited

Thats how I feel! I dont see how they can tie everything up in a 2 hour episode. Dont think be a main character death as to little time for it to have any impact or if there is will feel a bit rushed no doubt

Hopefully it'll be fine...just think the first 4 episodes felt more put together

Invisablepanic · 26/12/2025 15:12

Not to be a downer but those three episodes were a bit flat for me. I loved Karen's stand in the last round but this time that was comical! Right at the last moment, she rises from her hospital bed to kill the demodogs, which not even the armed soldiers managed? I think, as @MrsMitford3 says, there's too many people. Why do we need Vicki?! Although I'm always happy to see Mr Clarke.

I would have liked them to focus a little more on 8 and her plan, it feels like that's going to be the very final plot after they defeat Henry but they've made it both too obvious and not spent enough time on it. I actually feel like I've barely seen 11! I also feel like Hopper threatening to kill a teen girl is a bit much, even though we know what she's up to. Unless there's a twist and she's just trying to get rid of 11, 8 is actually putting others above herself.

I also think they've made a bit much of Will coming out, I get all about self acceptance and we are talking about the 80s. I probably wouldn't mind if he hadn't of had about 4 'chats' with Robin. One would suffice, he wasn't even the only gay person in the room - there were two others!

I've got high hopes for the last episode despite being a bit underwhelmed today.
