I liked him the first time I watched season 4 but on rewatch, not so much. He spent the whole season saying he always runs when it gets tough, then the one occasion he should have run he didn't. It was very heavy handed and cringe once you notice what they were setting up. I forgive him though because he was much better than Jonathan's stoner friend.

Actually that’s true for me too. I didn’t mind him on first watching but second time round was when I was questioning why he was such a fan favourite.

HarryVanderspeigle · 10/12/2025 10:08

It was definitely better than series 4. I didn't like El snapping that soldier's neck, she hadn't murdered people before. I also still don't understand why Max couldn't get back to her body. But overall it was fun and had better pace than I expected. We watched the goonies and home alone recently, so was fun to see the nods to them. Sadly no random soldiers were launched off the toilet because they hit the pipes, as that was one of the funniest moments of my childhood.

Completely agree about Jonathan’s stoner friend, but he’s a shout-out to the Cheech & Chong movies (huge in the 80s), surely?

What was Chrissy's trauma/blame/guilt - as in why was Vecna able to get into her head?

The reporter killed someone in the car accident, Max was the guilt around Billy, just wondered what Chrissy's was (linked to her mother)

JustAn0therUsername · 10/12/2025 12:14

I assumed Chrissy’s was around feelings of failure. She was a popular cheerleader but miserable and resorting to drugs to cope. She wasn’t living up to what she thought expectations were.

Loopytiles · 10/12/2025 12:30

Agree @Daytimetellyqueen It was a great performance by Joseph Quinn but the writing was clunky.

The actor playing Chrissie was also fantastic, I thought. Wasn’t the story that she had eating and drug issues? And she was dating that very scary blonde Tom Cruise young man which can’t have been good!

I thought she was getting drugs from Eddie to stop the nightmares causes by Vecna.

We hear her mum and then see her mum and dad just before Vecna kills her- with the Hawkins Tiger Editor his last moments relive the car crash.

DallasMajor · 10/12/2025 13:56

What is the relevance of the wheelchair/invalid chair in the roof of Victors house ? Is that covered in the play?

RayonSunrise · 10/12/2025 16:45

Agree that Chrissie’s guilt was due to her hyper-critical parents. She was a golden girl on the outside and an anxious wreck within, and was turning to drugs to escape Vecna’s nightmares - which further increased her imposter syndrome.

Not sure guilt specifically is the emotion that draws Vecna - weakness and self-flagellation, maybe?

Loopytiles · 10/12/2025 18:36

I think in the play one of the parents - Bob and Patty Newby’s dad maybe - is in a wheelchair.

Thoughts on the new trailer?

Thoughts on the new trailer?

I only watched it once on the go, without the benefit of those YouTube ‘explanation’ people, but initial thought was just errr what happened then when Will came out with his powers in that end scene? Maybe Vecna was kept at bay but only just about?

Jaw dropping! So dark, I can’t foresee any happy ending at this rate!

Justcantwin89 · 16/12/2025 18:22

I think that is Holly falling, that Murray is going to die.
That Shock Jock involves electrical shocks (as seen with the demogorgon getting shocked).
Maybe thats why Henry/Vecna/Mr whatsit was glitching at the time or maybe Holly and Max was together so he couldn't keep up lol.

They apparently have a person on set for the last episode that oversees mature scenes, so who's getting it on? 😳

Loopytiles · 16/12/2025 20:15

Didn’t like the ‘you die I die’ bit with Steve and Dustin. My money is on Jonathan dying after Nancy chooses Steve.

I don't think he will die, I think it will be Murray and Henry after he sacrifices himself.

I also think that El is going to become possessed and they need her to open the 'wormhole'.
The 12 children are actually inside the body of the mind flayer.

Patty will be in the last episode.

We need a 😮button.

I hope Nancy doesn't get with either in the end and instead follows her career.

Mike and El for the sex scene? Although that is uncomfortable to think about as see them as children, but they aren't, plus there is a Neverland/coming of age theme throughout.

I prefer implied rather than actual sex scenes whoever it is.

Curved ball, it is Will and Henry - time hop balances out their age and love solves all (very Harry Potter)

Justcantwin89 · 17/12/2025 08:27

And thinking about it maybe 8 is a traitor 🤔

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 17/12/2025 12:04

I think 8 will act like she’s going to help but reckon she’s actually Team Mindflayer.

I absolutely ❤️ Rambo Nancy … so her badass mother’s daughter 😁 and agree she’ll stuff both Steve and Johnathan off to concentrate on being badass. Thus leaving Steve for me 😁

Justcantwin89 · 17/12/2025 14:45

Haha rambo Nancy, she is definitely kick arse!
So refreshing.

I think a lot of the woman/girls in Stranger things are strong individuals.
And the lads have that softer side which I love as these types of programes influence young people.
It's nice to see that gender typical being not so typical and seeing the lads have emotion and cry .

Im a little bit worried about Will becoming under the big threats possession.

Loopytiles · 17/12/2025 16:02

I think Mike and Will for the sex scene, not El!

I think Hopper and Joyce 😄

Ew no!

Actually I think I’ll be weirded out by a sex scene with anyone. For me it’s not been missed so far and on of the reasons I’ve loved the show has been how wholesome it’s been (brutal deaths, child abuse swearing aside obv 😁). I don’t think it would add anything.
