Carrying on from the last thread. Smile

Asha took an overdose, as she has been depressed and low, but she's OK (physically.) Recently been attacked by a horrible racist woman who seems to have got away with it thus far!

Brody - Kit's son - is starting to become 'nice,' like (nearly) all the bad kids do!

Tim has just met up with a woman he knew from years ago... An ex flame I think. Sally is not happy!

Jenny has left!

Bethany is back! Lost her journo job. Again!

Todd is still in a bad, toxic relationship with Theo! Lego hair.

Lisa Swain's deceased wife Becky has risen from the grave! Threatening Lisa and Carla's relationship.

Kev's brother Carl enjoys having sex - with anyone really. Abi believes that Carl loves her. He doesn't!

Tyrone's not having a good time lately! He's in a bad way after being hit by a car.

Probably some more stuff going on that I've missed.

The term ‘a stiff’ is commonly used to describe a dead body, so maybe the word ‘stiffy’ is completely acceptable in the undertaker world.
The word has been hijacked by others to refer to an erect penis, so who are we to judge?

I’ve never heard it myself, but I wouldn’t be surprised if David has said - ‘Mr Smith is coming in at 2.00pm for a blow job’

😆

I have never heard of undertakers using such silly terminology, and they definitely wouldn't call an award a stiffy.

I think why a few of us are getting a bit >>🙄is because it's just one in a long line of nob gags, and Carry On film type innuendo, and it's tedious and a bit pathetic. I don't presume to speak for everyone, but I think that's how most people are feeling. Like, le sigh, another nob gag, oh ha ha!

It is just relentless and tedious, especially the car stuff - oops Todd's damaged it again! Theo's cross!

Agree about Todd (and Theo.) Why is Todd staying with this vile article? 😖 They have no major ties together. They rent the flat, they're not married, and they have no children together, or intertwined families.

I had a couple of boyfriends who were controlling, and passive aggressive, and actually aggressive a couple of times (before I met my DH) and I dumped them. I certainly never went as far as moving in with them!!!

Theo has showed who he is many times, and I'm pretty sure he did before Todd moved in with him, and yet Todd keeps going back for more.

Why Todd why? Sad

I think Corrie is trying to push the message that men as well as women can be in a relationship with abusive behaviour. Most blokes would have punched Theo. He’s doing a great job at manipulation with both Todd and others who think he’s fine.

Anything happens to Todd it will be “ but he was such a nice man !” 🤷‍♀️

Yes of course. I forget that it's a soap opera of course, and it is good that they're pushing this, (the fact that men can get abused too, in same sex relationships..) it's just infuriating that Todd keeps giving Theo another chance and another and another. I wouldn't for sure. Then again, people are different, and maybe some people would, in the hope things would get better.

Was Theo like this with his ex wife I wonder?

NebulousSadTimes · 25/10/2025 12:06

Todd has lost any strength he had already, it's like being under a spell. Yes, he occasionally has stood up to Theo but has always been talked round or has backed down and stayed quiet to prevent any more 'upset'. Theo is a cunt, as are all abusers. The questions asked should be of them, not their victims.

Totally agree with you about the knob 'jokes' @SabreIsMyFave . There's an air of desperation about them.

SabreIsMyFave · 25/10/2025 12:15

You're right of course @NebulousSadTimes Many abusive people are very cunning, and can be 'charming' and 'nice' sometimes, and they keep convincing their victim to take them back. It's just infuriating to watch! (And my heart breaks for Todd.) 😢It doesn't help that everyone else is seeing Theo as a nice guy!

You're right. Theo is a cunt! I do wonder though (as I said earlier,) if he was like this with his ex wife.

Most soaps have had domestic abuse storylines and some have ended tragically but unless I'm mistaken this is the first same sex one. Do the producers think this puts them top of the tree for awards or something? It's even more painful to watch as Thugeo is twice Todd's size. He needs castrating with no anaesthetic (and that's just for starters) 🙁

Actually same sex relationships have higher rates of DA/DV than heterosexual ones do.

I found it absolutely chilling last night

I totally agree it's infuriating to watch Todd take it. I've read quite a few books by women who were abused and found myself being very frustrated at them for not seeing it (having said that I didn't see most of what my then husband was doing to me until I had support from WA) or staying or not taking opportunities to get out when they could and I've been through it so why do I still feel the frustration? I feel very hypocritical but at least now I can take a step back and understand and articulate but it's still very difficult not to feel frustration at the victim, which is all manner of wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I am raging at TCTheo even more.

I did bring up the question of Theo being like this with Danielle a while back. Somebody said it's maybe because he's angry at being gay, or something along those lines. I just see him as yet another weak little man with irritating hair.

@MonickerMonica it'll be interesting to see how this comes to an end. There should be no closure, it is rarer than hens' teeth for that to happen in RL, no "ha! that'll teach him!", no killing of Todd and Theo is imprisoned immediately and everything goes back to normal. If it's anything like RL Theo will move on to his next victim and Todd will need understanding support and gentle care from those around him. And no knob jokes.

Cheeseontoastghost · 25/10/2025 13:27

@NebulousSadTimes It is frustrating but victims are vulnerable and hooked on their abusers.

The way abusers keep them in the relationship is through the cycle of abuse.

Starts off great, amazing connection( abusers love bomb and mirror) then they enter a dynamic where the abuse is tested, then once established its discard, devalue, abuse followed quickly by apologies, love and promises.
This puts the victims brain into a state of flooding followed by withdrawal of dopamine .
Literally addiction
It's horrific

carmak · 25/10/2025 13:44

Todd and Theo are doing a good job with this storyline, impressive.

eggandonion · 25/10/2025 14:12

Poor Todd just wanted a lovely longterm relationship and to settle down. I remember years ago and psychologist who was running a course I was doing talking about a friend who needed to leave an abusive relationship but hadn't enough emotional or physical energy to organise herself.

Gary knows the other side of him, or is starting to…

eggandonion · 25/10/2025 14:50

I put allmy faith and trust in Gary to do the right thing. Plus George and his two women will counsel Todd.
Eileen should never have swanned off to Thailand. Todd needs Eileen and Jason.

but hadn't enough emotional or physical energy to organise herself

Absolutely this
The brain is literally disabled by abuse/ bullying
It's mental violence
It how manipulators/ abusers work
They are so egotistical and weak they cannot obtain self esteem by their own achievements, they have to beat others down until they can barely function .

Why didn't they just leave?

I get why people ask, it's unfathomable until you understand how abusers work

R0ckandHardPlace · 25/10/2025 16:36

When did Dylan come back? I thought he’d been packed off back to that London with his Mum?

Middlemarch123 · 25/10/2025 17:36

I’m hoping that Gary sorts Theo out too. He’s definitely got him weighed up.

Middlemarch123 · 25/10/2025 17:49

I’m pathetic I know, but I’ve just watched last night’s on catchup and when Theo threw the table over, I stopped watching, just couldn’t watch the rest. I know it happens and it’s realistic, but I want fun Corrie, not this heavy stuff. There’s enough reality abuse docs etc on Netflix so I can choose to watch something heavy if I want too. Sorry, like I said, pathetic.

ajandjjmum · 25/10/2025 17:59

Not pathetic - really not relaxing though. I hate seeing Theo in a tantrum, and I'm muddled as to how an actor can make me feel like that when I don't think he's that good. Maybe he's actually better than I've given him credit for.

I highly doubt it as Danielle has got the Character to have spoken up and tell everyone what he’s like, especially Noah and I can’t have seen him keeping quiet. It’s a bit unrealistic that he would all of a sudden become a cunt in a new relationship, though.

Dontcallmescarface · 25/10/2025 18:12

I'm wondering if Todd's saviour will come in the shape of Tyrone. Ty was a victim of DA (Ruby's mum), and so may recognise the signs and maybe help Todd realise what's happening to him. Just a thought.

ErlingHaalandsManBun · 25/10/2025 18:12

Just caught up. Bloody hell that was intense wasn't it?

Not an easy watch at all. I just wanted to jump in there and save Todd. The acting was pretty decent to be fair from both of them. Theo was scary and felt like he was a total loose cannon and you didn't quite know what he was going to do. Todd's anguish was great to watch. Okay its a pretty brutal storyline but its being done really well IMO.

Oh yeah I totally forgot about that. That was pretty brutal to watch at times too. Both actors did really well in their scenes.

AmusedMaker · 25/10/2025 19:25

I don’t think Theo was abusing his wife, she’d have mentioned that for sure. I think he abuses his male partners because deep down he’s still ashamed at being gay and takes it out on them

Exactly this . Theo is inwardly disgusted with himself and can’t accept what he is - so he takes it out on Todd .
