I don’t think Saskia’s a ringer - I think she’s just very clever. She deserves to win imo.

Choux · 22/08/2025 13:15

@savesallthat Someone posted last night about the location of one of the buildings in the trailer shown at the end of the episode. And people were posting during the episode about having googled Piran and confirming that was what Darren was looking at. We can’t ban all discussion about clues and theories about what’s happening until the series is over.

the80sweregreat · 22/08/2025 13:24

The destination board may be wrong though !
They have a lot of red herrings too dotted about.

Really don’t like her

the80sweregreat · 22/08/2025 13:36

It was only me being ( not that ) funny about saskia and my ‘ringer ‘ comments. ! It’s just what they say about strictly when someone is good at the dancing.
Plus it wouldn’t make sense for a show like this really. Unless she is getting some inside information from somewhere , but that can’t be easy to do on there and must be restricted.

I always think that anyone from the acting profession who appears on Strictly will have an advantage of sorts if they've been to drama school, as most courses include dancing and singing as well as acting. They therefore can't claim to be complete beginners. Obviously some will be better than others, as evidenced by e.g. Leyton Williams, who was accused of being a "ringer".
Regarding Saskia, I think she's just good at the clues, which are not really all that difficult. She also probably revised European geography really thoroughly before starting the filming (wouldn't anyone do the same?) I do wonder whether pencils and paper are banned on the coach, though - writing down the clues from memory would have made things so obvious when viewed together, e.g. with all the anagrams of Pisa (and Pula).

placemats · 22/08/2025 14:35

Saskia did say that she revised her geography before the filming.

Audrey Hepburn was born in Belgium. Bruges, cathedral, seems too far away though.

Oh, yes, you're right.

cakeorwine · 22/08/2025 14:52

All roads lead to Rome.....

I wonder how accurate in Rome they would have to be?

The people in the final could both put their marker in Rome.

I saw Nick and Ben? doing some kind of drawing game - so they must have pens and paper on board. Or else that would make the day drag even more.

We've never seen them eat on the other bus. It would be interesting to see some of the logistics involved.

placemats · 22/08/2025 15:07

I wonder if they'll end up in the Bocca della Verita. Of course no one has ever had their hand bitten off, but Gregory Peck did famously surprise Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday in that iconic scene.

I'm getting the travel bug feeling being on these threads which are excellent.

the distance is from your X to the actual location of the bus. Whatever car park or street it is in. So someone could lose by a couple of metres in the final.

They made birthday cards and decorations.

Re spoilers - I can't see what a thread like this would discuss if not the puzzles the players are tackling! As far as I'm concerned, if it's been broadcast, it's fair game for discussion.

I've enjoyed this series more than I expected to. The best bit for me is Rob Brydon, closely followed by the scenery, although I'd like to have seen more of that. However, the main interest for me, as for The Traitors, is people watching. Saskia and Josh have not been shown in a good light but the others both seem as thick as mince, so it's anybody's guess how it will all end.

bizzey · 22/08/2025 18:29

I wonder how they would do an series 2 .

Us as viewers , and the contestants are all a bit 'clued up ' (sorry ..couldn't resist! 😅😅) on how the clues might be working ??

But I suppose the same could be said for all 2 and series of these sort of games ?

Love love 💕 💕 Rob !

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/08/2025 18:45

I'd have said the same about The Traitors, but even on series 3 there were people talking, apparently sincerely, about what a strong bond they'd formed with someone else, how that person would always have their back and would never lie to them - and seemingly forgetting this is a game show about competing to win a large amount of money where by defniition some of the competitors are telling lies and deceiving other people! Absolutely fascinating. The human urge to be accepted and liked seems to be so strong it overrides all the logical side.

Very much looking forward to Celebrity Traitors in October! But that's for another thread.

bizzey · 22/08/2025 18:57

I will be there for Celebrity Traitors !!

I don’t think Saskia is clever. She thinks she is though. She is such a mean girl, I can’t bear how she treats the other and her facial expressions when she is caught out lying.

I was just thinking the exact scene! If it is Rome, and they've all guessed it, it's going to have to be a fairly specific clueable spot. And that's the most memorable location based bit in the film.

ChompandaGrazia · 22/08/2025 19:17

off topic

celebrity traitors will be interesting as, unlike normal traitors, they will either know each other or know who each other is.

SwedishEdith · 22/08/2025 19:37

See, I don't really enjoy Traitors as much. I think it must the Claudia element. But the human behaviour stuff and not learning from previous occupants was the same in Big Brother.

bizzey · 22/08/2025 19:57

Massively off topic ...
I am going to go and try and watch Roman Holiday somewhere ...as I have never seen it !😲😁😁!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/08/2025 20:13

I have seen it, but a loooong time ago. I find it hard to believe that many of the contestants will even have heard of it, never mind seen it and remember the key locations.

the80sweregreat · 22/08/2025 20:27

I’ve never seen Roman holiday either !
