That was me! I thought I was really clever (and also though Pisa had the letters in Spain!)

At the end, Rob said Pisa was pais scrambled (which made sense) but said the Piran vs San Marino ticket was just to tell them they were in Piran - as if that helped!. I don't think that can be correct and sometimes think when the v/o is recorded they haven's actually spoken to the people who devised the clues! It was so obviously Pi and Sa

I've never heard of Piran. What a gorgeous place.

I was going to mention Pi v Sa from the last thread too. Good spot! No idea why Rob didn’t mention in it in his list of clues.

Yes. When Josh said they were just running down the clock as if they would be deliberately dropping the ball and missing out on a clue just to stop him getting a clue! 🙄

I don't like him much but I think he wanted a go and was frustrated. He did that sporty lad thing of not being very nice or kind about otehr people's lesser abilities. I actually wanted to see him have a go because I would have laughed if he was crap at it!

If they had known the challenge in advance they would have put him first which would have helped.

PuppyMonkey · 22/08/2025 08:39

Just joining this, have watched along sporadically and think it’s got much more interesting now. Also annoyed with Josh assuming he’d be great at the football balancing thing. Like that’s a thing he does all the time so of course he’d be fantastic. Would’ve loved him to have a go and be crap.

Didn’t get Pisa at all last night. I’d be rubbish at this game as well as throwing up on the bus due to not being able to see out of the windows.

Piggywaspushed · 22/08/2025 08:41

To be fair to Josh he knew where Piran was.

BestIsWest · 22/08/2025 08:43

It’s terrible but I’m enjoying it in an odd sort of way.

crumblingschools · 22/08/2025 08:53

Did I miss what the number clue was during the block building exercise?

I also took the first 4 letters on the ticket stub to make Pisa (but only after I had guessed Pisa from other clues)

flightofthecorkers · 22/08/2025 08:54

The ball balancing challenge was pretty impossible really. You'd have to practise for hours! What's the point of making it so tricky? Throwing or kicking the ball would have given them more of a chance. And ballerina shoes etc as a clue, not very helpful.

Also, why does Audrey Hepburn keep turning up????

Choux · 22/08/2025 09:25

I think the challenge was really difficult on purpose so they wouldn’t have clues. Then when Saskia complained (cos she would!) a producer said you know everything you do is a clue even the activities. Building towers and balancing something made her guess Pisa.

as they have been in Italy twice I think they will all assume that if the semi final is in France they are keeping going to Spain. But maybe they will circle back to Rome for the Roman Holiday / Hepburn connection. With the mix of red herring and real clues they could easily get the finalists each thinking they are in different countries which would make the final map room interesting. I think for the final they will all be winning their own clues and obviously not sharing so they won’t have the same information. They could show the map with the Xs on to them all so they can see their odds of winning and then announce the winner. I think the producers can engineer the winner by showing their preferred person the best clues. Based on the edit I think it could be Judith or possibly Darren underdog who will win. Saskia and Josh are not getting a good enough edit to be the winner everyone approves of.

It was impossible but I think it's main purpose was as a clue. Only Saskia seems aware the actual challenges are clues.

LittleBowSheep · 22/08/2025 09:28

I started to get suspicious about Saskia in the previous episode. She keeps saying that she's bad at geography but that's obviously another lie on her part.

What made me suspect something was amiss in the last episode is that she suddenly started talking about Pula and its colosseum. It seemed to come out of nowhere. It could be down to editing but last night I found it odd that she worked out Pisa from the blocks at the lake and the vague balancing references and not from the Letters clues.

I'm now starting to wonder if she is being tipped off or if she's not really a contestant. I'm probably over-thinking it all.

crumblingschools · 22/08/2025 09:29

Does Judith still have her card for getting the destination?

NCTDN · 22/08/2025 09:31

Getting ready for the next episode!

Pancakeflipper · 22/08/2025 09:43

Didn't Saskia say she did loads of AI "travelling" round Europe prior to the show starting? But she really seems confident.

Wow at Judith last night. She doesn't hold back does she ?

the80sweregreat · 22/08/2025 09:46

Josh questioning Daren about the clues was funny. Daren is definitely going to be ostracized now.

That's my suspicion as well. Seems really odd that she suddenly pulled Pisa out of nowhere, and to be so strong on that compared with possibly San Marino (as she was earlier) - the confidence seemed out of place.

I know there's a lot we don't see, but given that she didn't appear to get other clues - this was a little far fetched.

I'd like to know the answer to that as well.

Piggywaspushed · 22/08/2025 10:10

I think the Judith thing is like the annoying thing on Traitors where they sometimes have a perk that goes unused. They shouldn't have given out that free X on a day when not everyone went in the map room!

Re Saskia there is obviously editing going on but she is very bright and has said more than once that she revised.

She clearly figured out they were toppling towers. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is incredibly famous.

the80sweregreat · 22/08/2025 10:11

Maybe Saskia is chatting up the drivers or some of the cleaning crew lol 😆
Or a ‘ ringah ’like they have on strictly ( according to some )

Choux · 22/08/2025 10:16

I am trying to think what other activities they have done which might have been a clue to the destination X that episode:

Standing in a box in Alsace looking through windows had nothing to do with Paris although there was an artwork of an i falling which meant the Eiffel Tower.
Watching cranes light up in coloured sequences has nothing to do with Pula.
Any more?

And yet suddenly Saskia realises that building towers and balancing balls = Pisa? I am not buying it.

SwedishEdith · 22/08/2025 11:06

I'd forgotten about the ballet clue. Maybe I'm really ignorant but I had no idea ballet was created in Italy. I would have assumed France. Is it common knowledge that its origin is Italian?

the80sweregreat · 22/08/2025 11:12

I thought that Ballet was first created in France too, all those French sounding words they use to identify different poses. Goes to show I know nothing.

Tablefor4 · 22/08/2025 11:28

I think the final place will be Rome. The card a few episodes back with a map of Europe and lots of rivers/roads/lines on it - I think that is "All roads lead to Rome". We've now had Audrey Hepburn "Roman Holiday"; and there may be other clues along the way. Laurel wreaths, SPQR
etc

Yes the Audrey Hepburn clue last night

Oh, even a coliseum. Tenuous though. Nick might have been able to see the links.

Choux · 22/08/2025 11:54

Ok I have just gone back to watch episode 1 to see what was on the departure boards. I have watched literally the first 20 seconds and what do we have:
Munich
Salzburg
Pisa

plus Nice - coming next? Not sure about SIR and PUY. Is it possible we will get a shot to camera next week from Saskia revealing she walked around the airport at the beginning, memorised the departure boards and that was what put Pisa in her mind?
