Fixed? Golden tickets didn't help much, did they, not sure what the advantage was in the end.

I thought this series got better as it went along. I really enjoyed Josh losing!

Very glad Judith won.

Between us, DH and I got it right every episode - except tonight as Rob opened with "oldest shopping centre" which is Milan. Got the right country though.

But despite our "success", I didn't really enjoy it and hope they don't do any more.

Is the "oldest shopping centre" not the forum or something as in actually ancient Roman?

thetemptationofchocolate · 28/08/2025 22:34

Sorry, I meant to reply to Night Sweats that none of the advantages seemed to do them much good!

Trajan forum/market was multi storeyed shops and colonnades from ancient Rome .

LIZS · 28/08/2025 22:41

I would have preferred the series to be more like that last episode where they collected clues and did puzzles within the destinations or en route. It seemed strangely static even with activities like canoeing and too much time together in the bus .

Motherbear44 · 28/08/2025 23:15

I have just watched on catch up because I had to go out. I wanted Judith to win, even though I can’t forgive her for not getting the equations. They were yr 3 maths.

beasmithwentworth · 28/08/2025 23:21

So happy for Judith. I thought Josh was mean and arrogant towards her which makes her even more deserving. He so thought he had it in the bag.
I loved Daren but the last challenges were so physical (especially the Spanish steps) there is no way he would have matched the others.

I has a few tears when Judith won.

dapsnotplimsolls · 28/08/2025 23:38

I was out so I've just watched the last 10 mins. Phew!!!

Phase42 · 28/08/2025 23:52

Does anyone else think it is a bit suspicious that Judith won? By thirty seconds?

She wasn't good at tasks, wasn't particularly fast all the way through the series?

Surely Josh would have seen her (and the accompanying cameras) on the steps ahead of him?

Perhaps I'm cynical but I did think Josh - with his two advantages - should have flown through this.

placemats · 29/08/2025 00:00

You've never been to the Spanish Steps have you @Phase42 ,? It's always packed. A 30 second win may translate into a 3 minute advantage for Judith when she arrived at the bottom of the steps.

He was weighed down by his massive ego...surely the size of the Holy Roman Empire itself.

TheFifthTellytubby · 29/08/2025 00:34

So - according to Rob, there were four hidden coordinates to find and use to form an X on the map. But there were only three tasks - Audrey Hepburn picture, ice smashing and putting the destinations in order. You can't form an X with only three pins. Anyone else confused?😳

champagnetrial · 29/08/2025 00:52

Good spot! Exactly right – Rob said 4 coordinates. They did 3 tasks. And there were 4 pins on the map at the end (you can see it most clearly in Judith's go).

No, because why the hell would it be a fix?

Wasn’t there a putting gold in a creepy starue’s hand?

MegCleary · 29/08/2025 07:07

Well, first BBC thing we have watched for awhile. Against the thread grain we liked Saskia and Josh and found Judith a drip. Is the park/statues challenge alll she kept saying was “I must do well in this” did not see her pick up her feet and run.
coil not believe she was so poor at the bag/equation challenge, we worried for future nuclear accidents.

I think the editing was rough on some. As it ended we were saying we don’t like Judith bet she’ll win. She had no reason too. Poor at challenges pretty much all the way through. Saskia at least had done some homework and Josh, if I could fly a plane I’d have an ego. 😜

InMyOpenOnion · 29/08/2025 07:22

I am glad Judith won of the three that were left, but Claire was my favourite. I did get a bit sick of Judith playing the victim though. Mind you, Josh and Saskia were just awful in the last episode, with their pally exclusion of Judith on the bus. Hopefully watching the series back will open Josh's eyes to what an arrogant arse he is.

the80sweregreat · 29/08/2025 07:35

I was pleased for Judith, but it really was anyone but Josh !

BIossomtoes · 29/08/2025 07:40

It was nothing short of miraculous that Daren got as far as he did.

Serenster · 29/08/2025 07:43

GuiltyPleasure · 28/08/2025 22:27

No way was Josh only 30 seconds behind Judith, when the filming of Judith getting there, waiting for Rob to appear and opening the box was at least a couple of minutes. If he was really 30 seconds behind her he’d have run in the same time as Rob appeared. Nevertheless I’m pleased Judith won above mean girl Saskia and arrogant Josh

There was obviously some production management going on with the ending and how it was presented. All three of them seemingly went to the same location to plot their co-ordinates on the map, but despite there being three minutes only between them at the end, they didn’t overlap there. And, having been to the Spanish Steps I also know that when you get to the top of them there is a road, then a church on the other side of the road. No big park or villa - you’d have to go a bit down the road to get to a location where they could have filmed the ending.

Being on the BBC* though you can have faith that it happened as presented, even if not exactly as shown. So, everything would have happened at the times they said. Maybe each of them had to check in with the production team at the top of the steps who verified their time and finishing position, and then held each of them separately before ushering them off to film the ending with Rob down the road? Hopefully Richard Osman will talk about how it was all done on his podcast - he is good at covering issues like that!

(*For example the BBC makes it clear that contestants in Traitors don’t stay at the Castle, as that would be misleading. The American version has no issue with suggesting they all stay there! And all the shots of Traitors walking menacingly to the Tower etc are filmed after the game is over, and just edited into the programme)

All helped him along as he was not seen as a threat.

I just wonder if there is interference from production to 'help' some contestants...eg. telling one of the moped drivers to drive a bit slower, giving an off camera hint to a contestant, etc. I didn't want Josh to win either but he flew through all the tasks. Judith walking around the earlier clue task and being bamboozled by the equations seems at odd with her winning this last task - perhaps I'm overthinking it! It was an okay program - I wouldn't watch a second series of it.

Yes I think you may have a point

Piggywaspushed · 29/08/2025 08:03

I assume a second series might be a bit better because contestants will know to look out for cryptic clues.

The ending was attempting to be like Race Across The World, I guess. The music was very similar.

I wasn't a Judith fan either. Josh thought she was clever simply because of her job. No one ever really seemed to appreciate that Saskia was pretty savvy. Judith was terrible at every challenge apart from the one in Venice.

Workisntworking · 29/08/2025 08:08

I think they were timed at each task and then when doing the X - the stopwatch stopped when they told the driver to go to the Spanish Steps. The running up the steps was just for the drama
