I think Josh and Saskia both knew but weren’t saying because they hoped the other one wouldn’t know.

Seeing an F1 car and saying to each other "Well I'm not sure where that could be" knowing full where it was

Oooh

Outside the casino in Monaco?

So close...

Rome next week.

Or Barcelona

Place your bets please

placemats · 27/08/2025 22:11

So Monaco is a destination place. Next is definitely northern Europe. Leaves turning, looks like the Black Forest. Not a million miles from Bruges.

InMyOpenOnion · 27/08/2025 22:13

What a pointless boring game at the Observatory. Obviously they wanted to lull people into going for it, but not one of them got Penelope Cruz! But then Daren was so ludicrously far off it would have been almost impossible for it not to be him out anyway. Bit disappointing for a semi final.

Choux · 27/08/2025 22:14

There are some reasonably priced places especially up in the old town near the Palace.

I once went there with work about 30 years ago - there were four of us, two male, two female . We were on expenses so eating at decent mid range restaurants. It might be different now but back then restaurants gave women menus without the prices on because women didn’t need to know them as they weren’t paying.

All roads lead to Rome. There was a clue card. Plus all the Audrey Hepburn references.

Italy has Alps where it would be cooler.

Fakewelsh · 27/08/2025 22:25

I spotted a really obvious clue in tonight’s episode that I believe shows the end point.

don’t want to spoil it for people but happy to share ..

In Episode 1 they filmed to camera pieces in this room. The posters behind them include the Eiffel Tower and a coliseum which looks more like Rome than Pula as Rome’s is more ruined than Pula’s.

I can’t read the writing on the far left poster. Does it say Germany? If so the posters could have been a clue: start in Germany, first stop Eiffel Tower then gap, gap, gap etc till the final stop of Rome’s Coliseum.

I think this is the first and final destination photos but I think the final destination is Barcelona as it looks like the cathedral

What if they just take them back to London? 🤣

But there are always red herrings as well as real clues…

The coliseum picture resembles Rome more than Pula. And the order would logically be left to right so Germany then Paris then several gaps and then the picture on the right. Plus there was a destination board at the airport in Episode 1 and so far they have been following the destinations on that.

That was the main point in my German O level aural 50+ years ago, either that or the prices on the women’s menus were different.

I guessed that early on so could concentrate on trying to remember the vocabulary.

(Aural = listen to a tape in German and then answer questions about it, presumably also in German.)

Edit: not allowed to write notes while the tape was playing, if ever.

I really can’t see another series being commissioned. I’ve enjoyed watching it but the games are quite woeful and there are a finite number of very obvious locations and contestants will struggle to guess where they are. Can you imagine being stuck for hours at a time on a bus with no view?!

I thought a second season driving around different states in the US would be fun, although with the distances involved I’m not sure how well it would work.

Zingzoomyzingy · 28/08/2025 00:06

I said Monaco after seeing Grace written on that cap. Judith to win, or Saskia please not Josh.

TheFifthTellytubby · 28/08/2025 00:52

If bugs me how they don't bother reading the whole clue and miss really obvious pointers. So Daren just saw the picture of the Mona Lisa but missed the words "she's got company", and ended up completely misinterpreting the clue. And Judith focused on the "pi" and ignored the letters "AS". Given how important these clues have turned out to be in the past, you'd think they'd pay a bit more attention to the details!

CatrinVennastin · 28/08/2025 07:29

Have I completely missed something but what has Judith done with the golden X card? Is she keeping it for the final?

She could only use it in the map room that took place on the day she got it.

GenieGenealogy · 28/08/2025 07:34

The whole series has felt like half an idea. The basic concept is there for a good game show, but the execution needs work. The games are too involved and the red herrings are a daft idea. The whole first episode with the twins and the fake terminal was just ridiculous.

cakeorwine · 28/08/2025 07:34

Imagine if they had all said Monaco - but it was the nearest one to the bus who got it.

You get out the bus, see Monaco and say "WFT, I put Monaco"

champagnetrial · 28/08/2025 08:34

It would be good if they all got off the bus at each Destination X - or even stood on the steps and waved to the one dropped off. Like in Traitors, when at the end of each episode all the contestants at least have the satisfaction of the big reveal - faithful or traitor?!

It just seems like so much effort, especially for those that have guessed correctly, not to have the satisfaction of seeing the result. It kind of gives off cabin fever vibes for those left behind and makes for uncomfortable viewing (imho!)

I agree. It’s almost good.

They clearly don’t get told where they really are then as Daren wouldn’t have guessed Paris otherwise.

I think the problem with the clues is that they are part of the task. They are so busy doing the task that they don’t really pay attention to the clues.
I think it would be better if they had all the clues in the map room and they all get to go in and have a look. Or they have some on the screen so they can discuss them, then if you win the task you get extra clues.

LIZS · 28/08/2025 08:53

Agree it doesn’t feel like a treasure hunt type game, the clues are too randomly available to players so it is just chance whether they make sense to any one or even a pairing. The mine activity had potential but felt an anticlimax rather than a challenge, “stick or twist” rushed and over complicated. But nor is it about general knowledge or travel experience or even social dynamics. Some of the thought process is edited out so much to appear disjointed.

crumblingschools · 28/08/2025 08:54

It’s based on a Belgium programme, wonder how different it is to that

Half an idea is exactly right. I've enjoyed it but it's the most frustrating thing I've ever watched as it could be so much better! I still don't know whether the clues are meant to be pointing towards where they are at that point or where the destination is? E.g last night there were loads of clues to Monaco but then also at least one to Marseille (a poster that said something like 'what would Ma say?' that was never mentioned again) so we wondered if maybe they were going through Monaco on the way to Marseille. I don't think either the contestants or the viewers are really given enough to go on to work it out logically, just cryptic clues and red herrings. What was Penelope Cruz all about?! And all the driving around in circles and back on themselves 😩 it would be good if they were given more information about the journey so they could actually work it out using their own knowledge rather than just guessing based on the clues

NightSweatsNinja · 28/08/2025 09:01

Are they not told where they are (approx) after each round? So they have no idea if their clue interpretation skills are on the money or not?
