Is anyone watching? I’ve read about this case before so was very interested to see they’ve made a Netflix docu-series, especially since they have her actual family/friends/real witnesses involved in it.

Ive watched one episode so far. It’s such a sad but strange and intriguing case. Her poor mum and dad.

The most obvious answer, is usually the right answer. I understand that her family need to think she’s alive.

Sadly I think she was very drunk, very sad (split with gf), and very tired, and fell overboard.

Weepixie · 20/07/2025 16:48

I’ve been on many a cruise and had she come back into the cabin and left by the only door into it, someone in the bedroom would have heard her as well as the ac going of when the balcony door opened. I used to wake up when my brother who was in the cabin next to me would get up in the night to go out on to the balcony even when it was raining or windy.

I think her family feel very guilty for adopting the attitude they did to her being gay and they just can’t accept she fell overboard.

And you just don’t walk off a cruise ship un-noticed, and certainly not barefoot because you left your shoes on your balcony.

x2boys · 20/07/2025 16:54

She was said to be a strong swimmer ,but I suppose if your drunk and enter the water in a shocking way ie falling overboard whilst also feeling nauseous and maybe still vomiting, i can see how she might panic which could cause her to drown.

Fluffypotatoe123987 · 20/07/2025 16:59

Her girlfriend said she sent her a suicide note. Her parents wouldn't accept she was gay. She didnt like upsetting her parents. Her dad saw her at 530 am. She had vanished by 6.

Weepixie · 20/07/2025 17:04

Falling overboard from a ship isn’t like jumping into a swimming pool. The drop is huge and the seas are rough/choppy even when calm. And swimming back to shore would not be anything like doing a bit of swimming along the shoreline when on holiday, or swimming a hundred meters or so out to sea from the shore on a nice day.

Ive spent decades jumping from the top deck railings of big yachts, the sea is a way of life here, and even at that height which is nothing compared to falling from a cruise ship you still hit the surface with a wallop and sink down quite a depth before resurfacing. The idea that anyone could jump from 8 stories up a cruise ship and compose themselves enough to start swimming to shore because it will be fun and I’m a lifeguard is only wishful thinking.

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 20/07/2025 17:16

She had reconciled with her girlfriend (according to the girlfriend in episode 3) just before she left for the cruise and they planned to spend Easter together, so I imagine that Amy would have been v happy not suicidal.
I think she fell from the balcony - possibly because she was drunk.
The ‘eye witnesses’ didn’t strike me as credible.

VintageDiamondGirl · 20/07/2025 17:17

Had listened to podcasts before but never seen the photos emailed anonymously, they really look like her. But, how, if so? Agonising for the family.

How do you figure she sent her girlfriend a suicide note? It didn’t come across that way to me.

Greycheck · 20/07/2025 17:18

I'm not convinced that her Dad saw her at 5.30, I think he thought he saw her in that half asleep/awake state that you are in when you awake suddenly and the thing that woke him was a shout/scream as she fell. I just can't see her leaving the room barefoot. Surely a barefoot woman leaving the ship would have stood out to someone.

I had half a memory that an unidentified jawbone washed up a few years back somewhere close that was said to belong to a Caucasian person. Going to see if I can find that reference.

There is a woman who has come forward to say that the woman in the sex worker photos is not Amy Bradley but a woman called Jaz who was a high class sex worker in a very controlled relationship . She apparently saw this woman who it actually was every day, when she was a child because she spent time in her apartment. I hear that she’s contacted authorities about it.

I have listened to lots of podcasts about this, it’s really well known amongst true crime fans. It’s a compelling story but unfortunately I think a lot of chancers got involved and took advantage of the family’s trauma.

I don’t believe sex traffickers would take an American tourist who was on holiday with her very close family. It’s just more likely it was a tragic accident.

The family have said she got a lot of attention from the male crew, trying to flirt with her. Kindly, she didn’t look as if she would be a magnet for that sort of interest.

If you Google the amount of people who go missing from cruise ships it’s shocking.

What with this and Trainwreck Poop Cruise also on Netflix, I think I’ll stay on dry land.

dayswithaY · 20/07/2025 17:25

@Greycheck Another tragic story of a poor young girl on holiday.

I think a lot of people were tempted by the reward money too 💲💲💲

dayswithaY · 20/07/2025 17:32

I think a lot of people exaggerated their role.

I don’t believe that’s her in the photo.

Absolute nightmare for the parents, crew didn’t seem to care.

Some people are charismatic though in a way that isn’t picked up in photos. It’s in rather poor taste to suggest that she wasn’t pretty enough to be abducted. I mean, I did used to think she must have fallen overboard but there are some strange things that don’t add up.

’Yellow’’s own daughter is suspicious of him. Which to me is strange. One woman in the documentary said that younger women stood out on the ship because most passengers were older.

3KidsPlusDdog · 20/07/2025 17:34

Gosh, I think she was very attractive. Sort of in a quirky way, but definitely extremely attractive

dayswithaY · 20/07/2025 17:36

I didn’t say she wasn’t pretty enough to be abducted.

You said that she didn’t look like someone men would be interested in 🤷🏻‍♀️

dayswithaY · 20/07/2025 17:38

Which is not the same thing.

LibbyL92 · 20/07/2025 17:39

I’m just watching it now after reading the thread.

I don’t know… the more I watch it the more I think she was potentially trafficked.

but then I resort to the possibility that she threw herself over. Alcohol is a depressant.. her subconscious mind coming into effect.

I’m struggling to understand how someone could remain missing on an island that small.. cruise ships dock in most days. The media attention.. various factors make it seem not possible.

such a harrowing story. My heart aches for the family.

JMSA · 20/07/2025 17:39

@dayswithaY

Agreed. She was a perfectly attractive young woman but certainly nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps she stood out to others because of her youth (when the clientele is generally older).

Thst was my thought absolutely nothing wrong with Amy's looks ,s but like most people I don't think she would have had men falling over themselves to flirt with her ,she waa pretty enough in an average way
If they did flirt I suspect they flirted with everyone

dayswithaY · 20/07/2025 17:40

@JMSAThank you for understanding my point.

dayswithaY · 20/07/2025 17:43

@x2boys Again, thank you for understanding the point I was trying to make. Nothing wrong with her looks but why would men be buzzing round her, she would blend in.

But maybe that’s the attraction.
