Is anyone watching? I’ve read about this case before so was very interested to see they’ve made a Netflix docu-series, especially since they have her actual family/friends/real witnesses involved in it.

Ive watched one episode so far. It’s such a sad but strange and intriguing case. Her poor mum and dad.

I agree with the cruise ship TBH.

They were about to dock. Thousands of passengers waiting to holiday. An adult woman hasn't been seen for under an hour and they wanted everyone to be stopped from leaving the ship?

Thats crazy. If she had been missing say, 6 hours and they had done a check and not found her fair enough. Or if it was a 6 year old etc...

But a 23 year old not being around for 60 mins is jo reason the stop a whole cruise ship.

It did turn out to be worst case scenario but 999 times out of 1000 in that scenario she would be with a friend/lover/ just having breakfast etc

HRTFTY but looking at the pic of the balcony someone posted the railings do look high to me. At first I thought they weren’t till I realised the white block wasn’t the floor but the lower part of the railing. Theyd be well above head height when sitting on those chairs. People always talking about railings on cruises but you really need to want to go over or be doing something daft to go over. Just looking at a pic from my last cruise and my 6,1 husband is standing on our balcony and the railing comes up to the just above the middle of his torso. He’d have to really try to throw himself over.

Also just to add that when you open the cabin door on a ship the balcony door usually slams shut so I don’t know if that’s another indicator that she went overboard. If the ship was docking or docked I don’t know if this is still the case. However I don’t think she fell. Or if she did fall I think she was messing about. Decided to sit on the edge for some reason - it’s not outwith the realms of possibility.

Thanks for the link. I thought it was sad that the brother felt he couldn’t have children after seeing what his parents had gone through losing their daughter.

I am surprised no one suspected the brother. (I don’t) usually on reddit or other crime forums they often accuse everyone especially family members.

3KidsPlusDdog · 27/07/2025 18:13

@InNewYorkNoShoes I don’t think her brother had anything directly to do with it, but I’ve read threads on Reddit which showed his tweets. He’s a pretty nasty person.

3KidsPlusDdog · 27/07/2025 18:14

And they still can’t accept that she was gay.

I think this has a lot more to do with it than they’ve given credit to in the series.

In what way?
Genuinely interested as i always thought he came across as quite broken by it like her parents.

the80sweregreat · 27/07/2025 18:29

I’ve a horrible feeling that her parents may never know the truth. I’d love to know the stats of people who show up again after decades missing, but I can imagine it’s rare. I doubt I could live with not knowing myself, it would drive you mad and just so sad.

I’m walking my ddog now. Just google something like “Brad Bradley Reddit” etc, and you’ll see all the screenshots and threads

Have just read one of the threads very interesting one poster theorised he was so against Amy,s sexuality becsuse he hadent come to terms with his own
I know he doesn't have children but is he marrie/ in a long term relationship does anyone know?

yallahbye · 27/07/2025 20:47

I just watched the whole YouTube interview with Amy’s brother that someone linked in the thread and it puts everything into a totally new perspective. It is even more informative than the Netflix documentary which in hindsight is incomplete in many ways. The brother explains a lot of things in more details, so we get the answers to previously unanswered questions. He cleared up a lot of things. I was previously of the opinion that Amy fell from the ship and any kind of abduction was nigh impossible but now I’ve changed my mind. That interview is a real eye-opener.

x2boys · 27/07/2025 20:58

I always thought although Amy,s parents may have struggled with her sexuality Brad would have accepted it more im the same generation as them and I know my parents would have struggled with accepting a gay child
But if Brad struggled to accept his own sexuality and maybe still is i can see why he might have repressed it and why he might be so against Amy's sexuality.

I feel that they may have tried to un-gay her. Maybe liking she had male attention on the cruise and encouraging it and I would imagine they could think it’s a phase or she wasn’t sure.
Someone mentioned about Ellen coming out but at the time but even taking that into account it wasn’t like it is now. There were different attitudes.

Definitely it really wasent mainstream both in the UK and US and it was a different generation I have always told my son it doesn't matter to me who he falls in love with as long he's happy but my parents. Generation were not so accepting or some of them weren't

I’m only a little woo and I did a tarot pull on her to see if she was still alive and it basically suggested taken away and con sealed and she’s now adjusted and living a small life not chosen by her. And on top of that there’s one medium I trust out of all the hundreds I’ve looked into and she has just done a reading on her and said she’s not in the after life. Obvs most people think this is loony and that’s ok but to the 1% that believe I thought I’d mention it.

JSMill · 28/07/2025 09:00

I had a look at her brother’s X account and I was surprised to find out she had been in a heterosexual relationship for several months before the cruise but that was completely cut out of the documentary. It makes sense now why the girl she’d known in high school was so upset about a kiss. I don’t think it has any relevance to her disappearance but it is very strange that it was cut out from the documentary.

Same here. I’m 100% convinced yellow is guilty of something after watching this interview

twilightermummy · 28/07/2025 13:45

I think the most obvious answer is suicide or her falling off. I agree with another poster; I took was astounded that Netflix managed to drag it out over 3 episodes. I think the Nicola Bulley case taught me a lot about water as well as public reactions. An open sea with sharks is unlikely to bear any evidence.

I don't believe that she was trafficked. Women who are tend to be extremely vulnerable in the first place with an addiction or a desire to move countries and then tricked before realising after transportation. They tend not to be missed, nor looked for. Amy wasn't stereotypically attractive. If she was trafficked, I think that she'd have gotten off the boat of her own accord on a drug run but I still can't see it.

I'm not sure that her family were wealthy though as it said they won the cruise? I think they had to persuade her to join them too which would induce guilt. I suspect if it was suicide, it would have something to do with their take on her coming out.

There were certainly some shady characters, the guy in the cabin next door was weird. He also seemed to do what murderers enjoy doing - getting in front of a camera. Why Yellow's daughter was even on the show though beggars belief. She basically offered a whole lot of nothing. I think he was dancing with the wrong girl at the wrong time. The two other female passengers who spotted them together had no recollection of time. It's probably ruined his life all of this.

If I had to veer off my opinion of accidental, and it's a big if, I'd be looking at a particular family member.
However, that site of missing people on cruise ships just goes to show that going missing at sea isn't a rare event and no body showing up is just as likely.
Just to add, I absolutely hated the cruise manager. I guess he's an employer's wet dream though - somebody who thinks they're running the joint.

Ahh a bit late to my own thread but I lost a bit of interest in the documentary, it was very much presenting an angle (but I suppose what do you expect with Netflix) and I wanted a more balanced look.

I don’t understand the insistence that a body would ‘definitely’ wash up. There have been cases of others disappearing off boats and ships and never turning up. Even people swimming from the shore.

Also only showing one photograph of the woman from the website, I’ve read online there are other photos which make it more doubtful they are Amy. There is a little resemblance but that’s it imo, I really don’t buy it being her.

Im still pretty convinced she very likely went overboard.

I don't buy the "sightings" of her either. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously wooly. People do make mistakes, overestimate their certainty and remember things incorrectly. I'm not saying the witnesses are lying.... humans are absolutely dreadful at remembering people and events accurately. It's been proven many times.

Look at her brother. He was certain he heard Amy's voice from the passing car. She's his sister, he knew her voice. But she wasn't there (obviously.)

People absolute do lie though, my friend had a very serious accident ( not their fault) and the utter bollox that was spouted from so called witnesses on FB was astounding. All lies. So I don't believe the sightings either.

Exactly. People want their 5 minutes of fame.
I don’t believe any of the eye witnesses were told by whoever they met that they were called “Amy”

VibeCurator · 28/07/2025 16:11

I was only a teenager when madeleine McCann was missing but I definitely remember reading the newspapers in the immediate aftermath about lots of potential sightings, a woman who had ‘definitely’ seen Madeleine in a service station with a woman is one I remember but there were others too. I think most big cases will always have multiple ‘sightings’ that are just cases of mistaken identities, mixed-up memories or plain exaggerations.

I agree I think they may have met someone who may have looked a little like Amy ,as a pp said she had fairly generic looks ,who may have been a bit upset and then read about or watched something about Amy s Dissappearence and put 2 and 2 together and came up with 100 and then thought they had met Amy and told everyone for attention.
