Well done Tokito. What a match!

Raahh · 13/07/2025 13:30

Well done Oda- tough weekend for Alfie.

Meanwhile. Jelena and Hsieh Su-Wei are down a break in the first set, but fighting back.

Well done Oda - just too strong for Alfie - DH phoned me at match point Hmm

Raahh · 13/07/2025 13:40

I really like Tokito- he is still so young. He has loads of fans- even if it felt like there were lots cheering for Alfie.

I'm so glad Wheelchair tennis is finally getting some recognition. The fact Court 1 was quite full was also good to see, it was a good match.

kazzaD66 · 13/07/2025 13:52

Saw the last 2 sets of Hewett and Oda. I'm always in awe of the fantastic play and shots they make. (Apologies if that sounds condescending, it's not meant to be. Remember when Alfie played Jannik and blew him off the court Grin)

Shame for Alfie, won both titles last year, but 'only' runner up in both this year. Glad he won his final service game, it was lovely to see the smile on his face, as he was getting quite down on himself.
Congratulations to Takito!

Raahh · 13/07/2025 13:55

kazza I was glad to see Alfie seemed quite happy at the end of the match ( he was obviously disappointed) Finally having the Wimbledon win last year, possibly made this easier to swallow.

First set Hsieh/Ostapenko.

Carlos is looking like a film star.

Even though I don’t like the singles final starting at 4pm, it’s nice to see a good crowd for the doubles. Hoping Jelena and Su-Wei can turn this around!

For those who are new to tennis and asking about attending Wimbledon with kids, I would strongly recommend instead considering one of the smaller tournaments like Eastbourne or Nottingham. They are much more family friendly and easier/cheaper to get tickets for, and you will still see really good players. For Wimbledon you can only ever get 2 tickets through the ballot, and the queue is becoming a lot busier the last few years.

IceandIndigo · 13/07/2025 14:30

Come on Jelena, keep it together!

Raahh · 13/07/2025 14:33

Into a 3rd- come on Jelena and Hsieh!

Interested as to what the "Iga things that Iga does" are?

To be honest I found her running up and down and racket swinging quite rude when the umpire was talking to them.

Iga does this every match she plays, it’s just her thing. Actually lot of players have these sorts of rituals, male players are often jumping around while the umpire does their spiel, it’s not considered rude.

JaneJeffer · 13/07/2025 14:52

Rafa is Iga’s role model and he would be bouncing 6 foot in the air at the net. Carlos doesn’t stay still to listen to the umpire either.
