It didn’t help that Meg totally ballsed up what Toni said about Emily. If you’re gonna tell tales, at least get it straight. She burbled something about Emily being boring, and Emily wasn’t explicit with Toni about what she’d heard, so there was a misunderstanding anyway about the nature of the beef. And then Emily wasn’t explicit expecting a British-style response to her confronting Toni ie awkward denial or downplaying, not for a way more direct US response as in ‘you wanna talk about this, let’s go!’ So that was a mismatch too. I think it’s interesting that Connor’s getting fed up of Emily at the same time Toni and Shakira are.
It’s probably just the first weeks’ facades wearing off as a PP said, part of the fake safe relationships breaking up and people being a bit more honest about their alignments. I feel Emily was a bit disingenuous with Connor, saying he hadn’t talked to her first, when he had literally just had a chat with her about needing more space, still being open etc and she seemed to get it, but then got miffed about him chatting to Megan. I dunno, I find myself thinking that Toni, Shakira and Yasmin are just a bit brighter than the other girls so there’s tensions and misunderstandings. Interesting to see how it’ll all develop by Sunday.
Other thing I noted was Meg telling Dejon he couldn’t flirt with anyone any more and then telling other people they’d dealt with it. I think they themselves that they’re this winning couple cos others are worse, but they’re not kidding anyone. It’s like Dejon’s light goes out, same as what Shakira said about Ben. Meg isn’t bringing out the real Dejon, she’s just making him behave, and it won’t work. He’ll just get down and/or get sneakier. I think he was the one who knew about Connor’s plans to pull Megan but he kept schtum about that. He must know he’ll be in the shit if he says anything. The consequence of all the quote games and filmed dates etc just means people who worry about how they’re perceived will go into their shells. Which is why it’s weirdly good that the likes of Harry and Yasmin seem to not care too much.
