Anyone watching? I think it’s brilliant. So funny on Gen x /Gen z differences and how long marriages really are

I've just watched the first two episodes tonight, really enjoying it

DtotheOG · 03/05/2025 23:07

If is excellent. I adored the Alan Alda cameo.

Sockmate123 · 03/05/2025 23:36

3 episodes in. Loving it

roses2 · 03/05/2025 23:42

Just finished watching it tonight - nice series and unexpected ending!

Birdbrained13 · 04/05/2025 07:37

I binged it all! Yes unexpected end and I wonder if a s2 will be made?

I binged it all yesterday, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Apparently it's based on a film? I'd be interested to watch that if anyone knows where I can see it.

Tablefor4 · 04/05/2025 13:12

I only spotted Alan Alda from his voice - unmistakeable. I enjoyed this.

theresnolimits · 04/05/2025 13:14

Me too. Have watched the first three episodes and had to look up where the lake house was. And the luxury resort (upstate New York and Puerto Rico for anyone interested).

Belindabelle · 04/05/2025 15:56

I am enjoying it. Very well observed and frighteningly accurate with regards to behaviors in long relationships.

Dunkou · 04/05/2025 19:54

I enjoyed it as well. I just looked up the original film, Alan Alda played Jack in it.

hopeishere · 04/05/2025 19:56

We watched the first one last night. I thought it was meh very forced acting and not that funny. DH refused to watch the second episode.

CandyflossKid · 04/05/2025 19:59

Really enjoyed it

imsosotired · 04/05/2025 21:49

I really enjoyed it. I’d like to watch the film version too.

Cadenza12 · 04/05/2025 21:50

Just finished it. Best thing I've seen for ages

FridayNight1975 · 04/05/2025 21:56

watching with my husband so won’t be able to binge watch.

really enjoying it, although I find her husband very irritating.

heard tina fey on amy phoeler’s podcast this week and she said she wanted to make a show with no science fiction, murder or any other ‘themes’ we’ve gotten accustomed to lately.

she wanted to see if there’s still an audience out there for this sort of show.

loving the scenery too.

landryclarke · 04/05/2025 22:09

Absolutely loved it!

FloraBotticelli · 04/05/2025 22:13

It’s okay but I’m losing interest by episode 4. Tina Fey and Steve Carrell feel like they have the chemistry to be in a couple together and for some reason my head thinks there should be 4 couples and I’m constantly questioning where the missing one is? It’s not that funny.

smurfmonkey · 04/05/2025 22:20

I remember the film from the 80s, it was one of my Dad's favourites and I remember him hiring the video from the local video shop. I'm now wondering how old I was to have been allowed to watch it 😁

I couldn't remember much about it though but when I checked back the series does differ from the film plot.

I binged the series last night, I enjoyed it although did find some of the characters a bit irritating at various points.

SnobblyBobbly · 04/05/2025 23:27

I watched it all tonight and really enjoyed it. The daughter’s play was so funny! And Terry in the last episode was a fun addition to the group 😆

Snipples · 05/05/2025 02:41

Ah I was hoping there would be a thread on this. I loved it. I won’t give any spoilers away but the singing moment with terry was hilarious, I don’t know how they all kept straight faces during that scene. Thought it was very well written. Anything with Tina Fey holding the pen is always going to be good.

charabang · 05/05/2025 08:12

I watched this in one sitting yesterday and it made my bank holiday. Really enjoyed all the characters and it was a great mix of sadness and laughter and drama. The daughter's play was brilliant especially the poor old bookshelf! It reminded me of a book I have recently read by Erica James 'An ideal husband' if anyone wants a recommended read.

Weefreetiffany · 05/05/2025 08:15

Its funny, Im happy to have something to watch which isnt reliant on trauma or stress to push narrative. Made me realise I miss sitcoms! Lovely to just relax and watch something light, funny and intelligently written

MooFroo · 05/05/2025 08:23

Binged it too and really enjoyed it- very easy watch and made me realise that me and DH are like Tina and her husband! Need to work on that!

Orangesinthebag · 05/05/2025 16:58

I binged it over the last few days & enjoyed it.
Also loved the daughter & the play. I thought it was good to show that the traditional "waiting until your children leave home" split can still be devastating for the adult child.

And I loved the age difference issues - the way Ginny's friends reacted to the Kenny Loggins holiday story as compared to Terry who found it hilarious and the fact none of them drank, were all vegan etc.

Great ending too. Hope there is a sequel!

Scorchio84 · 05/05/2025 18:55

I watched it too, I go bored mid way but stuck with it, I definitely think there will be a second series, don't think I'll be rushing to it but it might be one for a mindless watch in the future, OH def wouldn't enjoy it
