Is there a celebrity traitors thread yet?

Cast announced as, Stephen Fry, Mark Bonner, Celia Imrie, Alan Carr, Joe Wilkinson, Nick Mohammed, Ruth Codd, Paloma Faith, Lucy Beaumont, Charlotte Church, Jonathon Ross, Kate Garraway, Joe Marler, Tameka Empson, David Olusoga, Claire Balding, Tom Daley, Cat Burns & Niki Omilana.

I’m looking forward to this. I have a feeling that it will be harder for the celebs - some of whom must know each other - to trick people, but will definitely be watching. I’m glad it’s a good cast with several comedians.

Now wondering who would be good traitors. Mark Bonner in a cloak would put a smile on my face, but I’m worried that Alan Carr could be a Linda.

@Notonthestairs all the previous series are still on iPlayer, so if you feel inspired you can watch them at your own pace that way. However if you’re like me you’ll find yourself watching 1.5 episodes at a time as you NEED to know who was murdered/banished!

Notonthestairs · 12/10/2025 10:16

kind of wish you hadn’t mentioned that! That will take me til Christmas and then I guess a new series will start?! 📺🤓

Just caught up with Episode 2 last night.

My 2p worth so far:

  • I'm old and don't watch a lot of TV, so I was pleased to recognise half the celebs. Normally with "celeb" shows it seems like there's one person I've heard of, and the rest are the fifth-placed runners-up from Big Geordie Island 2018.
  • Airtime seems to be a bit uneven. We hardly see Mark or David or Tameka. But maybe this is because there are so many people still, and it will level out as people get eliminated.
  • Cat is brilliant. I'd never heard of her before but she seems like a really lovely person.
  • Tom Daley can get in the sea. So whiny.
  • Is Charlotte under a contractual obligation to wear low-cut tops at all times? They're filming in April in Scotland, she'll catch her death!
Choux · 12/10/2025 11:17

Can’t even think who David is so he must have barely been in it!

Not seeing your favourite in it much is a good sign they are not about to be murdered or banished. The traitors get airtime for obvious reasons plus those who are going to get heat at the round table and those giving them heat.

oh David Olusoga! Yes I love him. Glad he isn’t being seen too much yet but he seems calm, wise and observant so I hope he is going to do very well later on.

I’m interested in the people watching who have never watched the regular version. What has encouraged you to watch this one? Is there a certain person you like or was it because there was more publicity around it?

I've never watched The Traitors and didn't really fancy it, but the quality casting of this celebrity version piqued my interest and it hasn't disappointed.

I enjoy it, but I'm also a bit cynical about how much is staged. I think Alan in the kitchen with Paloma and the other woman seemed very much set up so the viewers could be left wondering which of them he'd chosen. Both of them, as actresses, could pull that off quite easily.

LIZS · 12/10/2025 12:05

Definitely some is staged. They walked to the graveyard, then had lengthy car rides back and only some of them looked damp from the rain. Did anyone notice the quip to Claudia about horse-riding on Strictly last night, don’t think she plans to do it again!

JewelleryCat · 12/10/2025 12:36

I read that they wanted household names and not just people off Love Island and programmes like that

Oh, I think a lot of it must involve a producer somewhere watching video feeds and sending a runner to take someone out of a room on some pretext. I thought that particularly when Joe Marler appeared to abruptly leave the kitchen, leaving the traitors there alone to discuss the murder in plain sight.

DontStopMe · 12/10/2025 12:42

I am impressed with the cast for this: not all equally high profile but I do actually know who most of them are and I'm very interested in seeing how it all works out. Yes, of course there's going to be staging and careful editing but it's still very enjoyable.

I don't know how much of the action is staged, but some of the dialogue has been pretty clunky. Obviously Claudia has to talk portentously, but a couple of the others have delivered lines worthy of football commentators in the pre-match build-up.

CaveMum · 12/10/2025 13:21

You have to remember that the show is edited in reverse, so the producers edit in the full knowledge of who wins and who says/does something outlandish. The cameras are on all the time in the castle/cars and they have to edit a days worth of footage into an hour, so of course they’re going to show us the bits of people saying the bits that sound more interesting and therefore seem scripted.

I think the producers do pop in and out of the rooms at the castle as they have to call people in to do those bits to camera, but previous contestants have said there is no direction from them.

Mentioning the horse reference on Strictly last night, did anyone else hear Claudia refer to the SCD contestants as “players”?! I imagine everyone is trying to get info out of her at the moment, at least when regular Traitors airs she can hide away!

We lasted about 15 minutes on the US Traitors because it was all reality TV veterans who came across as fake as a fake thing. The casting is everything on reality TV. My guess is that they got Wossy first and he was their tentpole for everybody else to sign up.

Yawhat · 12/10/2025 14:18

Much of the US cast is very showy and attention-seeking. I'm enjoying the contrast between ours and theirs. Maybe the US version will start casting a higher calibre of American contestants off the back of this?

The UK has one of the strongest celeb castings for any celeb show ever made. I can't think of anything better.

No, but a producer could tell a runner to go and grab Joe M for a diary room segment when they can see that he’s the only person with the three traitors, who need to decide a plan of attack for the murder in plain sight. It’s not direction as such, just timing something they’re doing anyway to give the traitors a rare daytime confab.

Last One Laughing UK was absolutely brilliantly cast, comedy industry specific though

Yawhat · 12/10/2025 14:37

Yes, LoL was quite a similar bonkers mix, where it was strange to see quite different comedians interact together in the same Big Brother-style room. Taskmaster, too, to a lesser extent. But for sheer scope and volume of well-known actors, athletes, musicians, comedians, etc, Traitors has broken the mould.

Yes, the cast of the Australian equivalent is pretty much all ex Reality tv, all looking for a bit of extra limelight. Whereas these are established names in their own right and less in need of profile raising.

I’m guessing she can’t ride. Or at least it didn’t look like it

Staged but fun

gingercat02 · 12/10/2025 16:49

Claudia children have ponies/horses, I remember reading an article where she talked about all the animals they have at home. Looking at her, and the digs last night she is not a horse woman.

CarlaH · 12/10/2025 17:06

We tried The Traitors when it first appeared and didn't make it past the first two episodes.

We're watching this one because of the high calibre of celebrities they have managed to attract. So far we are enjoying it but we still wouldn't be interested in the non celebrity version.

Or it might be because Mark Bonnar is in it!

ThatCyanCat · 12/10/2025 17:07

Anyone know where I can find out what Charlotte Church is wearing?

Someone was walking alongide with the horse on a lead rein.

Someone was walking alongide with the horse on a lead rein.

And she was clinging on to the pommel for dear life! One hand whilst addressing the celebs and both hands once the horse was moving.
