Is there a celebrity traitors thread yet?

Cast announced as, Stephen Fry, Mark Bonner, Celia Imrie, Alan Carr, Joe Wilkinson, Nick Mohammed, Ruth Codd, Paloma Faith, Lucy Beaumont, Charlotte Church, Jonathon Ross, Kate Garraway, Joe Marler, Tameka Empson, David Olusoga, Claire Balding, Tom Daley, Cat Burns & Niki Omilana.

I’m looking forward to this. I have a feeling that it will be harder for the celebs - some of whom must know each other - to trick people, but will definitely be watching. I’m glad it’s a good cast with several comedians.

Now wondering who would be good traitors. Mark Bonner in a cloak would put a smile on my face, but I’m worried that Alan Carr could be a Linda.

Oh, I think a lot of it must involve a producer somewhere watching video feeds and sending a runner to take someone out of a room on some pretext. I thought that particularly when Joe Marler appeared to abruptly leave the kitchen, leaving the traitors there alone to discuss the murder in plain sight.

It's this, rather than being scripted or planned - more manipulated by the production team. But as Richard Osman said, many of the presenters are used to being producers, too, and in control so the dynamic is interesting (and they are more alive to what's happening than the non-celebs in the regular show are)

Yawhat · 13/10/2025 04:54

I thought it was interesting what Paloma said on Uncloaked, about being willing to boot out anyone boring. They seem to have an eye on collaborating to make the best telly they can while genuinely playing the game. So if anyone's not pulling their weight from an entertainment perspective, maybe they'll be advised to shake things up a bit!

I was thinking about Richard Osman’s point about the traitors also having producer hats on and therefore not wanting to murder the most famous people right off, ditto the least famous because it would be punching down, giving them, he thought, a choice between eight or so people ‘in the middle’.

I take that point, but I’m less sure he’s right when he says that if you asked all 19 starters to rank the whole group from ‘most famous’ to ‘least famous’, the lists would all be identical. For my 13 year old, for instance, Niko Omilana is by far the most famous person in there, whereas Stephen Fry is ‘the guy who reads the Harry Potter audiobooks’.

CaveMum · 13/10/2025 10:42

@Mushrump I think Richard’s point was that if you asked the 19 to rank each other they’d all end up with the same list. Outsiders will have their own personal views, but in terms of knowing where you individually sit in the pecking order of a group of your peers - they know their place.

Yes, it was also obvious the killing in plain sight task would fall to Alan, and that he would choose his friend to touch. So they obviously didn't want Palmona in from the start or they'd have saved that for later but then they'd risk Alan getting on better with someone else.

ThePoshUns · 13/10/2025 13:01

When he said that on the podcast I thought that would make a great task for them!

Who do you mean by "they"? The producers let the game play out, the shows are edited in reverse once the murders/banishments happen to give screen time reasonably equally (although the Traitors always get more screentime) which is why you saw so much of Paloma and why it's likely to be Kate or Tom for first banishment. Or do you mean the Traitors wanting Paloma out?

I mean that by setting that as the first murder, given Alan and Paloma are best friends, it was the obvious outcome. Neither of the others were going to get close enough to touch someone's face, so it was always going to be Alan.

CaveMum · 13/10/2025 13:58

But they will have decided on the first murder circumstances in advance - before the Traitors had been selected. They’ve openly said that they will only pick people who want to be Traitors as they can’t risk choosing someone who is apathetic about the role.

They’ve never done a murder in plain sight first before, likely to try and throw the players off balance.

I can’t see that they wanted Paloma out early on - arguably she would have been a real agent of chaos which makes for a more interesting show.

IMakeDealsWithTheDevil · 13/10/2025 14:12

Yes I was annoyed at it because I thought she would have been fun to watch. It was the obvious outcome though. I imagine they had a list of ppl they thought would be good traitors once they knew the line up, so if they had thought it through logically (and maybe they didn't but to me it seems unlikely) they'd have realised they would lose Paloma first doing that plain sight murder first.

Choccyp1g · 13/10/2025 15:31

But it wasn't in plain sight! He waited until there was no-one else in the room.

RubieChewsDay · 13/10/2025 15:33

By plain sight they just mean out in the open, rather than just discussing in the tower with the other traitors and sending a note.

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 13/10/2025 16:20

It was interesting that during the round table Stephen Fry took on the role of 'chair' pretty much from the off. If he carries on doing that, I wonder whether the traitors will want to get rid of him or let him carry on doing it.

bizzey · 13/10/2025 16:22

I watched civvies Traitors last series.
But can't remember if it was on all week or just 2 evenings.

I feel it was on more than 2 !

If so ...why have they done the celebrity one this way.

I feel the momentum/viewing figures might get lost with it being so spread out .

They show the normal one wednesday, thursday, friday and are all about the cliffhangers!

Ohh well 3 is better than 2 !!🤣.

Mike Myers Evil Laugh GIF

I said to DH if I was a Traitor on a regular series I’d just make a point of murdering whoever was the first eligible victim to speak at the Round Table every night! Just keep it totally random and see if anyone spots the pattern

It’s interesting to see who it taking the leads. Clare Balding did on one task, and Ruth took leadership in deciding everyone should vote. There’s alot of alpha males and females in the pack (if that’s the right term).

Just stumbled across this article (sorry if it’s been shared already). Gives a few more behind the scenes peaks at what goes on. The producers to say they aim to be as hands off as possible as they don’t want to accidentally give anything away.

Also 😱 that the Round Table Room has fake panelling 😜
