Is there a celebrity traitors thread yet?

Cast announced as, Stephen Fry, Mark Bonner, Celia Imrie, Alan Carr, Joe Wilkinson, Nick Mohammed, Ruth Codd, Paloma Faith, Lucy Beaumont, Charlotte Church, Jonathon Ross, Kate Garraway, Joe Marler, Tameka Empson, David Olusoga, Claire Balding, Tom Daley, Cat Burns & Niki Omilana.

I’m looking forward to this. I have a feeling that it will be harder for the celebs - some of whom must know each other - to trick people, but will definitely be watching. I’m glad it’s a good cast with several comedians.

Now wondering who would be good traitors. Mark Bonner in a cloak would put a smile on my face, but I’m worried that Alan Carr could be a Linda.

Would absolutely LOVE Bob Mortimer to go in but I read he couldn’t do it on health grounds - he had massive open heart surgery so certainly couldn’t do some of the missions. And he’d never keep a straight face at the round table!

Yes. He said in his autobiography that he can’t let his heart rate go over a certain BPM. That task pushing the horse would have been plain dangerous.

Why do people think 19 is not the right amount of cast? Both versions have an odd number at the start which means there will still be an odd number after the last regular banishment.

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 11/10/2025 13:26

If Bob Mortimer is a surprise late entry then as well as his health conditions, they might only bring him in part way through because he's such a surreal loose cannon, and they wouldn't be able to rely on him to play by the rules.

To keep the numbers odd it would be hilarious to have both Bob Mortimer and David Mitchell 🤣🤣

I just love them on Wouldn't I Lie To You
although I’m not sure Mitchell would survive the stress of Bob full time 😆

I’m not surprised Kate has come under suspicion. She does come over as a bit fake and false, over-performing her surprise and shock when anything happens.

Bob Mortimer was on the radio yesterday and Scott Mills asked if he’s watching traitors. He was quite vague and evasive and so I wondered if he might be going in later!

I heard that too - would love to see Bob on there! Loved his story about being Jarvis Cocker’s solicitor at the Brits after the Michael Jackson incident…he’d be great fun to hang out with I think.

More because some other seasons have brought somebody in later on. Although to be fair we mostly saw them right at the start so they weren’t complete wild cards

For those that love Bob M, if you haven’t already seen it you must watch Last One Laughing on Amazon. Bloody hilarious! I won’t spoil it but it’s basically a reality show on speed - a group of comedians locked in a large room together for a day and the aim is to make the others laugh. If you laugh twice you get eliminated and they keep going until just 2 comedians are left.

Yawhat · 11/10/2025 15:44

They might be big names but competitive reality shows are a different ball game and most won't have participated in one, especially one as intense as The Traitors, which is really diving into the deep end of the reality genre.

They would all have been briefed and psychologically evaluated to check that contestants are strong enough to handle a competitive reality show as well as the more macabre aspects. I also imagine they would have been received a fact file about their fellow contestants in advance to save any potentially embarrassing faux pas upon introductions!

Usually at this early stage of the game, it's a case of blind panic and grasping at straws. But murdering Paloma in pain sight has provided a big gift of a clue to the faithfuls. They may work it back as to who had the best opportunity, and the answer from the faithfuls seems like it'd be quite unanimously Alan, so it's a refreshing change that the faithfuls already have something substantial to work with.

I thought that. It’s not that long since Derek’s funeral. Not the most sensitive of tasks chosen given everything

Oh no I hadn't even thought of that although she did know there is "pretend " death so not a total suprise.but yeah could be jarring.

I haven't watched before but im loving it. It is an absolute hoot!

You have got to watch the previous non celeb versions! Series 2 is my favourite because I fancied Paul it had the best cast IMO.

CarefulN0w · 11/10/2025 16:12

I’ve just realised that this thread is already at 800 plus posts and so we will probably need a shiny new one before Wednesday. I’m actually away until Tuesday and am not sure what Internet access will be like.

Could I ask a faithful friend to start thread 2 at an appropriate time, if I’m missing in action? Thank you 🙏

I shall be on the iplayer watching by the end of this series I think. Tbh I thought it looked irritating before especially Claudia but I get it now,

I wonder if Ruth will recall Alan touching Paloma's face when they have a bit more time to consider how the murder was conducted in plain sight.

I thought Ruth had already left the kitchen by that stage

True. She might remember that she left them alone together, though.

Another one here who has never watched the non-sleb version, but is rather enjoying this one.

All this about Kate perhaps being triggered by the grave stuff - she was quite ok with (over) exploiting her husband’s illness & death for £££, so I reckon she’s just fine. And would have been briefed.

Joining in with the Mark and Nick love ❤️.

That’s a deeply unpleasant thing to say about someone

I stand by it. She had him filmed in a way that he absolutely could not have consented to. I didn’t like the guy (knew him personally), but yeah - absolute exploitation.

Anyhow, back to the actual show.

Sagaciously · 11/10/2025 18:34

I’m absolutely positive they would be briefed beforehand regarding the trials. They have to factor in claustrophobia as well.

Agreed. She didn't stop talking about it, tv magazines. Maybe it was her way of coping but it came across as very undignified.

I do think it’s what she is like. IMHO I struggle to like her because of it, I’ve known people like her in real life and they’re not usually very sincere as people.

I thought the 2 documentaries she did were very moving & powerful and not at all exploitative. They had a deep love for each other. I think she was quite amazing with what she went through. Now's her chance to enjoy her life
