Is there a celebrity traitors thread yet?

Cast announced as, Stephen Fry, Mark Bonner, Celia Imrie, Alan Carr, Joe Wilkinson, Nick Mohammed, Ruth Codd, Paloma Faith, Lucy Beaumont, Charlotte Church, Jonathon Ross, Kate Garraway, Joe Marler, Tameka Empson, David Olusoga, Claire Balding, Tom Daley, Cat Burns & Niki Omilana.

I’m looking forward to this. I have a feeling that it will be harder for the celebs - some of whom must know each other - to trick people, but will definitely be watching. I’m glad it’s a good cast with several comedians.

Now wondering who would be good traitors. Mark Bonner in a cloak would put a smile on my face, but I’m worried that Alan Carr could be a Linda.

Off to a great start!

Loved Claudia's cloak. Needed more Mark, for visual appreciation.

Not much from Lucy or Joe W yet - a good omen for the longevity of the comedian contingent? Celia could go far, or have an important role, because she got her own special intro with the winking portrait. I like Wossy but think he'll be banished before poor flustered Alan, especially as he's already put his foot in it.

Good mix of celebs, definitely a cut above the reality celebs from US Traitors. Only ones I don't know are Joe M, Niko, Ruth and Tameka.

Is this the official thread? xx

Yep (and you thought you started threads too early 🤣)

Kate Garraway did strictly

And she was SO bad at it! The worst celeb partner I’ve ever seen. Zero rhythm and stiff as a board- she had to be pushed around the floor .

Loved it! Where else have I seen Ruth, I have looked online but nothing i watch and I feel like she was police in some kind of Irish drama recently...or does she just look like someone else?

She reminds me of Nina on Corrie

A huge fight started in my house (two English Lit PhDs) about the correct answer to how many characters die in total in Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet.

(Benvolio in R and J only dies in the Second Quarto edition, and we nearly came to blows about whether to include Old Hamlet because he dies before the start of the play, but if you include him you’d have to include Yorick and Old Fortinbras…)

I think it’s 14 in total, but there’s room for ambiguity…

ETA Which I’m sure you’re all very pleased to have had cleared up. 😀

Team Celia ‘Cheekbones’ Imrie!

I’m thinking 16 deaths.

8 in each

Scrabbler · 09/10/2025 02:49

Aargh can’t sleep so was going to watch episode 1 on iPlayer - but it’s not working 😢

the80sweregreat · 09/10/2025 03:55

Hugely entertaining! I need to watch the other ones now as I’ve never seen it before.
Are there only three traitors ? Doesn’t seem enough people ! Nick is amazing , his character in Ted lasso wasn’t great , but he seems lovely.
Love mark Bonnar , always had a bit of thing for him.
Alan as a traitor .. just gold

sittingonabeach · 09/10/2025 05:07

@the80sweregreat the traitors are sometimes given the opportunity to recruit other traitors

CaveMum · 09/10/2025 06:31

@the80sweregreat you’re in for a real treat! Personally I’d suggest starting with the 3 UK series first and then if you want more you’ve got the US/AUS/NZ versions.

Personally I switched off from the US version (everyone in it is a minor celeb) but others love it.

Re the number of Traitors just remember the odds of finding one at the Round Table in the early days are lower due to sheer numbers so the herd will quickly thin with 2 people leaving every day.

Stephen forgot Lady Montague. Did you remember her?

I rate SF generally been a fan of him since the 80s- BUT, he didn’t really come across as either robust, quick, bright, strategic, a team player, competent/competitive, leaderesque or on the ball …or even particularly warm or likeable..?
Also a bit/cringe wet lettuce coming back to reflect on the Shakespeare question retrospectively…I like the Bard as much as the next man, but seemed pompous and contrived to me.

Edited

Did you not see him, at nearly 70 getting stuck in pushing that bloody horse ?!

I would have been as obsessed as him about that question. So I, too, must eb a wet lettuce. Clare has a Cambridge English degree so I don't know why she wasn't (edited as being) more interested!

That's a hard question and the producers set it to either make him look like a failed know it all - or to see who gave a shield away. Either way, Clare cocked up so that didn't happen!

I saw Stephen at the weekend in the Importance of Being Earnest. He was so brilliantly funny.

I’m thinking 16 deaths.

8 in each

R&J: Romeo, Juliet, Tybalt, Mercutio, Paris, Lady Montague
Hamlet: Hamlet, Claudius, Gertrude, Polonius, Laertes, Ophelia, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern
So I think 14. Old Hamlet/Old Fortinbras/Yorick die before the play opens. I wish they'd revealed the answer on the show 😂

Tweet Ed Gamble - I’m sure he’ll try and slip it into Uncloaked!

Piggywaspushed · 09/10/2025 06:49

I'm laughing at people calling Joe Marler 'rugby guy' They must not watch much reality TV. Joe Marler is the new Iwan Thomas - here. there and everywhere.

When he gets going he'll be great. He's witty, dry , very very cutting and nobody's fool. They underestimate him at their peril. He might also upset someone.

Did you include Lady Montague who dies off-stage? I did. Old Hamlet not included imo as his death precedes the action of the play.

Nope, still lost me. Grin

ChatGPT made it 15. Another wet lettuce here, I had to find out last night. It’s a terrible question if there isn’t a definite non-debatable answer!
Mark B was counting on his fingers too and I’m pretty sure he’s done a lot of Shakespeare. And Celia Imrie - by which I mean, I don’t think it was just set up for Stephen

ChatGPT includes Old Hamlet, who dies before the play starts, though. And if you include him, you need to include Yorick and possibly Fortinbras Senior as ‘significant pre-play deaths’.

I make it fourteen, though with a caveat over Benvolio, who dies in one Quarto.

What would happen if the traitors failed to murder someone?

I’m not sure it’s ever happened. No idea. I suppose it’s just a lost opportunity for the traitors to start whittling down faithful numbers? Or, if Claudia tells the assembled group at breakfast that the traitors failed to murder in plain sight, I suppose it makes them look weak.

I am a little bit in love with him. its the eyes.

Sagaciously · 09/10/2025 08:23

I guessed 15 died in R&J and Hamlet. But that was with my brain creaking, so I might have missed 1 or 2.

We loved episode 1! Alan as a traitor is pure gold.

Not mad on Claudia's outfits so far - the drapey sleeves gave me granny hanky vibes or hideous boots (my son thought she had surgical boots on!). She must be the only person though, that can make skinnies not look dated as fuck.

Violetparis · 09/10/2025 08:36

Laughed out loud watching it, Alan is going to be hilarious at breakfast and at the round table.

MabelMoo23 · 09/10/2025 08:38

Loved it and I absolutely love Alan. But I do think he’s going to cock it up and completely get in a fluster and panic and murder someone who has a shield - just because he’s going to fall over himself and literally just grab the nearest person

the80sweregreat · 09/10/2025 08:45

Claudias coat at the horse was ok, but the sleeves looked a bit too medieval for my liking. I’d end up with them in my food if it was me ( plus I’d look hideous in it )
