Hello all
I couldn't see another thread but it looks like this starts on Thursday 10th April.

What will be the themes this year? Banquettets aplenty? Grumpy contestants coming on to the thread to tell us off for not being kind? Hideous colour combinations?

Who know what joys await us!

Just one more. I think it's easy for us to be her's is rubbish and full and his is ... because so far this year there's been very little that makes any of us fall in love or see something WOW! I remember the first week when Banjo was on and it was something like a train carriage although of course it wasn't but a small space like this year's first one which I guess they do every year. I was blown away and knew if he kept it up he would win. I mean sometimes I wanted to smack him but he has real talent and it was obvious from the start. This year there is nothing close to that. Plus I think Alan is doing all our heads in and making us more catty than we might otherwise be.

Now I truly do stfu!

@FagsMagsandBags You are me and ICM5UK. I’m wondering if we have ever sat lusting over the Seagram Murals at the same time.

The 60s Mad Men look was what I was expecting and so long as it was designed to incorporate the rugby theme could have been a great idea. The fifties look was more Happy Days than Mad Men. It is possible I was also very irritated by the constant references to Rothko to upsell blocks of badly daubed paint.

I think Craig/John could struggle to work together. John’s timekeeping is terrible and Craig is a bit my way or the high way. Either they won’t finish or they will ring fence areas which won’t work together.

FagsMagsandBags · 10/05/2025 23:29

@C8H10N4O2 wouldn't that be funny. I love that you do that too. I forgot to add, as you know, that Rothko eventually gave Seagrams the money back that they'd paid for the paintings because he didn't want people just sitting there with them as a backdrop to eating and not being appreciated. He then gave them to The Tate. I think that story also made me look at them and him differently and something clicked. I am a big art lover but he is one of a very few artists who I will sit down in front of just to look, not because I need a rest, although I might need that, but just to look and be.

I probably don't like Craig much - he's terribly handsome, I can see why Alan goes giddy for him - because I'm as pretentious as he is. I have a sort of teacher's tic. When I'm passionate about things I just want to talk about them to other people so that they can hopefully get pleasure from knowing this stuff. Which is why I apologise for being a pretentious twat at times because I do go on some.

FagsMagsandBags · 10/05/2025 23:34

Craig and John are very opposite ends of the design spectrum where Bryony and Rita are quite different but there are similarities in timing for sure. I don't think they've either of them been in trouble of not finishing. And if there is a problem they just roll their sleeves up and do something else.

Of course, they'll all prove us wrong and B and R will fall out massively and C will flirt with A while J finds timing and they'll both be through to the final because they produce something that finally we all love. I sit in the corner with you mumbling "Rothko".

Rosierambles · 12/05/2025 13:02

Just catching up and place marking. I'm unwell currently and it is providing much needed distraction

Chrysanthemum5 · 12/05/2025 13:27

Sorry to hear that @Rosierambles hope you are feeling better soon

Only just managed to catch up.
What did they see in Briony’s? It was dreadful. Those painted chairs were horrid and the room was bland.

It was right for Victoria to go. Even if it had all worked brilliantly it would still have had nothing much to it.

Sneak peek at tomorrow’s ep (it has moved again this week) here

This week sees our intrepid interior designers do shop week (yay!) However, Rita does appear to be making creepy hands from the ‘luxe’ panelling left over from Bryony’s room last week 😂

BBC One - Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr, Series 6, Episode 6, "It's gonna be like one of those foam hands"

Alan assists Craig with stencilling and offers his hands up for Rita’s ring display.

@FagsMagsandBags you think Craig is “terribly handsome”? There’s nowt as queer as folk!

Tbf, I think if the man was chocolate he’d eat himself, he’s that vain. And I think he’s probably one of, if not the smuggest contestants they’ve had in years. But he has aged well and I can see why @FagsMagsandBags thinks he’s handsome.

FagsMagsandBags · 14/05/2025 12:09

I don't personally think "oh my, let me faint at your feet", but he's got that look and has no doubt found it easy to have men gagging for him over the years. And, of course, everything @Netaporter said about him. Handsome doesn't make him likeable.

Chrysanthemum5 · 14/05/2025 18:23

Yeah I love shop week.

Quick insignificant comment before tonight, I thought it was funny when Alan asked John if his hair had been inspired by Sue Perkins.
John is starting to get on my tit ends, I’m sure he’s a lovely guy but he’s a bit of a wet lettuce and I think he’d drive me insane if I had to work/ live with him.

Chrysanthemum5 · 14/05/2025 20:00

Here we go!

jay55 · 14/05/2025 20:03

Evening. I love shop week.

Chrysanthemum5 · 14/05/2025 20:03

What is derma rolling? I'm assuming something skin related?

Boys v girls. On paper this should be easier for the ladies since they both seem ok with time management

Mary Portias as the guest judge hurrah!

Tell me you are living of a huge inheritance/ trust fund without telling me …. ‘I have an Indian paper shop in Rye’

It’s that or money laundering

Halsall · 14/05/2025 20:09

Rye is lovely. The paper shop has beautiful stock but unfortunately looks like a school supply cupboard inside. There must be huge scope to improve it.

Chrysanthemum5 · 14/05/2025 20:10

@Victoriawould24 like the shop near me which was featured in the Sunday times - a couple came from London and bought a shop with their banking bonuses. I went in and didn't stay long. Although if I ever need a special croissant plate I know they have one for the bargain price of £105
